After a wildlife-filled week, Deskman and Pirate-Rob have been voted off Survivor Island. Deskman's adventures on the island include building his hut and complaining loudly, and Pirate-Rob's adventures include pushing Jessica into a pool! Keep an eye out for Ghosthande's upcoming Message In A Bottle column for more of the highlights of Week 2.
The contest of the week will be announced on Monday for our seven remaining Survivors. Follow their adventures in their journals and consider them well - for the next two survivors with the most votes will be evicted on August 31st, when the Survivor Week 3 poll closes.
Thank you to Pirate-Rob and Deskman for playing, and good luck to our Survivors! |

Since Gamescom 2011, it's evident that Creatures 4 has come on in leaps and bounds with a new starting tutorial, plus some features which I'm sure Creatures fans will be happy to see make a return: Norn speech abilities, the Science Kit, an Ecosystem, the Hatchery and the Splicing Machine!
But wait, there's even more! Read the full article on the Fishing Cactus blog and enjoy all the new information and screenshots they have to offer! And don't forget to leave your feedback! ![[ngrin] [ngrin]](/images/smilies/emot_grin.gif) |

An all-new section has just opened here at Creatures Caves. It's called "resources" and you can find a link to it in the Community section. Resource articles fall under three categories: Games, Development and Website. So far the three CAOS Chaos articles have been posted and are filed under Development. Soon the Website section will be filled with help on using Creatures Caves, and the Games section will contain articles to help people use games from the Creatures series.
Anyone may post new articles, so feel free to make an 'official' article for that project you're currently working on, or post a step-by-step guide that you may have written. You may also comment on articles and suggest updates to be made for them. Authors will have the ability to edit/update their own articles, and each article has a "last updated" date at the top. Also, there will be a "change log" for each article whereby everyone can see when an article was updated, who updated it and what changes were made.
If you have any comments or suggestions, please feel free to post them in the corresponding forum thread. |
After a surprise three-way tie in the votes, only Lisha has been voted off Survivor Island this week. Lisha's adventures on the island include being chased by a bear, and bringing her baby along for the ride. You may read the remaining Survivors' journals, and keep an eye out for Ghosthande's upcoming Message In A Bottle column for more of the highlights of Week 1.
Our nine Survivors will encounter a new animal this week in the second contest of the competition. On Friday, August 24th, two users will be booted off the island. These users will be those who have the most votes in the Survivor Week 2 poll. Please read the journals before making your decision, and remember, every vote counts!

I am very excited to announce that this agony aunt has finally packed her bags and set up shop at the all-new Creatures Caves! You may now easily search through the archive and comment on your favourites.
I look forward to receiving letters from Norns, Ettins, Grendels and Hands alike, and helping them with their daily dilemmas once again. Whether they're unhappy in love, experiencing difficulties with inter-species relations, having caretaking problems, or even if they've just run out of cheese and have lost the will to live, I'll be there to lend a hand with wisdom... and hopefully a touch of humour!

RProgrammer has updated Jagent for greater compatibility with the Garden Box, with bugfixes and new features including optional S16 transparency! |
Survivor Game 4 has officially begun! You may now start reading the journal entries posted by contestants in the Survivor forum, and keep an eye out for posts by Ghosthande in the Message in a Bottle opinion column (also in the Survivor forum).
On Friday, August 17th, the first two users will be booted off the island. These users are decided based on which two have the MOST votes in the new Survivor Week 1 poll. Please wait until you've read some journal entries before voting!
Good luck to all the contestants!! |
After several months of effort, Amaikokonut has released the Garden Box!
The Garden Box is an agent injector system for Docking Station. Partially inspired by The Biodome, the Garden Box allows for easy injection of plants, animals and decorations, so that you can easily customise rooms, both decoratively and ecologically.
Special features of the Garden Box include the ability to create 'patch plants' - where you draw a box on the wall for plants such as apples or chili peppers, and they grow inside the box you defined.
Another special feature is the decorations function - which injects scenery objects, such as a dormant volcano or the shee statue from C2 into the background, allowing you to make your world prettier.
The Garden Box is available at the new Garden Box Central forum!
EDIT: Due to circumstances beyond control, the SQL Server has gone down just as the forum was announced. |
Thanks to everyone who voted in the recent poll to determine this year's CCSF coordinator! I'm thrilled to be a part of such an important annual event, and I hope to make this a wonderful CCSF we all can enjoy! Please make sure to have a look at the latest topic regarding the CCSF:
Planning the CCSF 2012
It's important that we figure out some of the details fairly quickly, so as not to save everything to the last minute. Time flies by! Everyone is encouraged to offer input and feedback: Although not every idea can be used, I hope to come up with a middle ground where nearly everyone will be satisfied.
Share your ideas today, and get ready for the CCSF 2012! |
The Biodome and the Lost Cave have each been updated to v2! With a whole hoard of bugfixes, make sure to grab them from the below links. Big thanks to ylukylun for continued hosting and to everyone who submitted bug reports!

Survivor: Game 4 officially begins on August 12, 2012.

The first 10 people to reply to the correspdoning thread and include the word "Sign up" will be the 10 contestants who will be placed on the island.
Survivor is an online community game that is played on Creatures Caves. This is the fourth game that has taken place.
Basically there are ten users sent onto an imaginary island where they document their excursions and what happens. They post journal entries to keep everyone updated on what they're doing and seeing, and contests that they are required to participate in are posted in this forum. For example, in one of the previous games everyone had to create a map of the island, post it in a forum thread, and the winner received a prize.
Every Friday the two people with the most votes (anyone on CC.com can vote people off) are kicked off the island. The last user remaining wins! And there's an opinion column run by a separate user to keep everyone updated on what's going on with the players. (Who wants to run the opinion column this year? They cannot be a player who is on the island.)
It usually gets pretty intense as more people are voted off. The votes are supposed to be based off how active the user is and what they're doing, based on their journal entries. However, a lot of people will put images in their forum signatures like "VOTE KARIAS OFF!!!" to try to influence the voting. It's a lot of fun! |
