The Wildkat Norns are making an early appearance! This nature-loving, C1toDS-style breed is based on the Eurasian Lynx, and I hope they will make a happy addition to your worlds. The Wildkats are essentially in a late beta stage; things are looking good so far, but let me know if they need any tweaks!
My other release is something for the breed developer: I call it the PRAYEgger. This Javascript tool automatically generates PRAY code for an egg agent, so you can skip the tedium of writing long sprite lists. Just answer a few questions, like the name and sprite slot of your breed, and PRAYEgger will write the entire code for you. |
Over at the Garden Box Central forums, TheSecond has released the Bitter Almonds patch plant agent: a cyanide-filled treat for your Toxic Norns. Check it out!
Remember, if you've never used the Garden Box before, all your catalogues must be in the right place, and you must download the agents that work with the Garden Box in the Agents Collective. |
Ever wanted to take care of a norn, grendel or ettin while browsing Creatures Caves? Well, now you can! Allow me to introduce an all-new website feature here at Creatures Caves: Creatchi, the online Creatures game. You may select a Creatchi egg to hatch a new, random Creatchi, or you may adopt an offspring of some community users' Creatchis (available in the future after some Creatchis have already bred). Please read the Official Creatchi Care Guide for more information.
Special thanks to Ghosthande for creating all of the incredible sprites. It wouldn't have been possible without her! Also, special thanks to the following for their help testing and giving input: Laura, Ghosthande, Jessica, Malkin. This project was over 30 days in the making. I hope everyone enjoys it! |
After much planning, the first contest of sorts for Project Teddy has arisen in the form of a Wolfling Run!
Spanning over several rounds, the winner of this particular run will be able to request a Norndoll of their own! Could you be the lucky winner? ![[nwink] [nwink]](/images/smilies/emot_wink.gif) |
The Shee, ever the avid scavengers, found this peculiar wooden crate jumping around in the Capillata?s garbage chute, with only a ? symbol engraved on the front as a clue to its contents. Left unopened after all this time, they concluded that whatever?s lurking inside must be from another world... Let the wackiness ensue! [Download For DS]
Any feedback or comments are welcome. |
Creatures 4 recently posted on the CreaturesFrance Facebook Page that Creatures 4 Norn figurines are being offered for participating in a short quiz at Gifted! This appears to be something geared only towards French fans, but remember that a fan art competition has already been mentioned, which should be open to all. Keep an eye out for other news regarding Creatures 4 and the figurines! |
The genetic breed I have been working on for the past few weeks, the Albian Ant Norns for Creatures 2, are now available!
From my blog, Docking Station Galaxy:
A highly social breed, Albian Ant Norns enjoy living in large groups. They normally only live for around an hour but have unusual breeding habits; the lifespan of males decreases whenever they mate, but in females it increases. Female Ant Norns who have mated and laid the most eggs are referred to as "queens" and will usually outlive the expected life expectancy.
Albian Ant Norns also have a strong immune system and can digest most plant poisons.
More info and a download link can be found here. Hope you enjoy! |
If you've been following the latest Creatures 4 news, you'll know that the Fishing Cactus team attended the Game Developers Conference 2013 in San Francisco, and returned on Wednesday 3rd April. While we all wait for a follow up post on the Fishing Cactus Development Blog, I thought I'd share this photo of the Creatures 4 booth, that I found scouring their official Facebook page:
Sophie wrote: Yes, this is the single pic I've taken so far. And yes, it's from our own booth again. To my defense, the turn-out of visitors to deal with is completely overwhelming and I haven't had a minute to leave the booth, not even for lunch break. It's not much to look at so far, but hopefully it'll whet your appetites for an official update! |
For the past two weeks I've been working my new Creatures 2 genetic breed, the Albian Ant Norns. They are near completion, but I still need people to test them for me, and to provide feedback and suggestions in case they come across any problems. Anyone interested should contact me immediately!
The Albian Ant Norns are a unique breed, with the females typically living around an hour and the males even less. Like real ants, Albian Ant Norns have a queen, although in this case she is simply a female Norn who has had the most children, which has consequently increased her lifespan.
Male Albian Ant Norns have only one purpose: to breed. Whenever a male Ant Norn mates, his lifespan will decrease slightly. Males who are constantly mating will therefore age quicker and eventually die.
There are also many other features present in the genome. These will be covered in the care guide released with the final breed!
The Albian Ant Norns use the Dragonfly Norn and the Golden Desert Norn sprites. |
Check it out! It's running on an iPad! ![[ngrin] [ngrin]](/images/smilies/emot_grin.gif)

According to Jessica, Fishing Cactus has confirmed that the next Creatures 4 contest will be a fan art competition. Please feel free to begin posting C4 pictures in the art gallery in preparation. It's a great way to get feedback before the contest begins!
J Faith Wallace: Is there going to be competition based on skill? Like an art competition ect?

Have you ever noticed that a large amount of C3/DS breeds have a plain ChiChi genome? Wouldn't it be nice if one of them got a new and unique genome to make it more interesting? Well, I, Grendel Man, am willing to do just that. In fact, I'll even let the community pick which breed I do first.
But! First, there's a condition that needs fulfilled first: 10 creatures need to be submitted to the Creature Repository. Furthermore, the 10 creatures cannot all be submitted by the same person - one person can submit 2 creatures maximum to the overall quota. The other 8 need to be submitted by other people.
So, Creatures Community, how about it? |
Fishing Cactus are hosting a new collaborative Creatures 4 contest!
From the Creatures 4 Facebook Page: Surprise, surprise! Creatures 4 Giant Easter Egg collaborative contest - Break the Egg to free the Norns and get a chance to win yourself an exclusive limited edition Norn figurine! Starts right now. Deadline is April 1st and that's sure not a joke. Happy Easter everybody!
You can find the contest website here! |
