I thought that I really should blog about Creatures, and hopefully this should help stabilize my participation in the Creatures fandom and gather more interest from outsiders. Then I realized I probably wouldn't have much to say, so I broadened the topic to virtual pets in general, any kind I feel is notable at the time. Right now that only includes Petz and Creatures, but later you might see additions like Grandroids. http://computerpets.tumblr.com/ It doesn't look super-pretty right now I'm afraid, it's WIP. |

For all you green-fingered Hands out there, these beautiful blooms are a great addition for brightening up any world, while providing the perfect ambiance for budding romantics! They increase the sex drive of any creature that picks them up, while emitting a sweet scent to attract butterflies and Butterfly Norns alike. When night comes, they retire into their buds; just like real roses. Any feedback and comments are welcome!  Survivor: Space has officially begun! Please head over to the Survivor forum to begin reading player journals, joining in the general discussion and keeping an eye out for DarbyDoo's first post in her opinion column, Message in a Bottle.The following 12 contestants are now on their way to the space station: Coolpikaaa, Feddlefew, Grendel Man, Malkin, HavenHoney, ettinmaniac, c1anddsaddict, Kappsune, LoverIan, Nudgie, rubberducky, NimhsLab (in order of registration). The first two players will be booted off the space station on Friday, August 23rd, 2013 based on the votes in the Official Survivor Poll. For those of you who have been around for a while, you'll notice how many active users have a "title" (maximum of 15 characters) underneath their avatar in the forums. These titles can only be bestowed upon members by the website moderation team (moderators, managers and administrators). They have historically been given to members who were very active and contributed to the website frequently, as a special reward. This system will continue, though there is now an added feature: Users who have a title may now post throughout the website without requiring approval for their posts (news, galleries, etc). This was previously only possible by users who had the level of "staff member." Therefore we have cleared all current titles. Users who were "staff members" will automatically have their titles reinstated, so that their staff powers continue. The "staff member" level is no longer in use. Other users who are deemed worthy of having the ability to post without needing approval will be sent private messages by members of the moderation team to see if they would like a title. For more information, please feel free to comment, or reply in the forum thread. |

 The amazing CreatureLink section, run by our very own Jessica of Discover Albia, has now been updated! EASIER TO FIND Rather than having the CreatureLink downloads mixed in with standard adoptions under "Newest Creatures" on the main downloads page, there is now a separate section for each. LIST OF SIBLINGS & CHILDREN Sibling and children lists have been shortened to make scrolling through the page more pleasant. NON-CREATURELINK PARENTS It is now possible to select "Outside Creature" for one of the parents when posting a CreatureLink adoption. There is still the requirement that at least one parent is from existing CreatureLink Creatures, however. |

With an impressive history spanning well over a decade, Creatures Caves has always been a constant and beloved fixture in our ever-growing community. To date, this website continues to attract new members everyday, while being a close-knit hub of friendship and support, with all the features and resources that any dedicated Creatures fan could ever need! For several months, one of the most informative sources of Creatures genetic information has been down. Many of us were worried that it would not return, but a quick check today confirmed that the Creatures Developer Resource is back up and running! This excellent site by Chris Double has a plethora of genetic information that can be applied to all of the Creatures games. There are also programs, utilities, and tutorials to enjoy. If you've been one of the people hoping for the return of this site, or if you've never visited it before, make sure to have a look! |

 Attention, breedmakers! If you're looking to cut the time it takes to make a breed from scratch, the answer is here. I have extracted and compiled the official creature breeds' sprites from the Creatures 2 game's sprite files into a handy zip file. In each zip you will find the full set of one breed's sprites as transparent .png files so you can start editing the sprites right away! This way you don't have to spend time extracting each sprite set from its file.The breeds available now are Pixie Norns, Desert Norns, Emerald Norns, Golden Desert Norns, C2 grendels, and C2 ettins (Frog Norns can be made available if requested). If you would like to host these zip files on your website, please let me know and I will email them to you. Please let others know these are available so other people can save time too! Otherwise, send me a PM with your email address and which breed's sprite set you want and I will email you the zip file. The Creatures 3 sprites will be done next! |

 The Anai and Rikori Stinger Norns are here, all the way from the planet Veli III! They were created by the Shee to rid the planet of stingers, and as their name suggests, they eat mostly stingers and bugs. The Anai are based off of the CFG Norns, and are a bit special. They live for around 11 hours, have a longer pregnancy then your average Norn, and take about an hour to grow up. The Rikori are closer to your normal CFE Norn, and can eat pretty much anything but detritus. So crack open some stinger hives, and download them here.Just one thing to mention before you download them though, don't breed the Anai with any other Norn or you will get stuck pregnancies. You can breed the Rikori with regular Norns, just be aware that they might not be fully immune to the stinger's poison. |

These four Norns, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta, are sick! And it's up to you to save them, for fame and glory! This is essentially a puzzle, with difficulty ranging from somewhat easy to incredibly hard. Each Norn has some kind of affliction. The goal is to cure each Norn with one line of CAOS, entered at the CAOS prompt (Shift-Ctrl-C). Rules: 1) It must not create an agent to execute code repeatedly for the rest of the Norn's life. The solution is a cure, not repeatedly applied treatment. 2) The usage of external tools to figure things out is allowed, and encouraged, but the solution MUST be a line of CAOS. Using an external tool to adjust things does not count as having solved it. 3) I am ok with discussion of the puzzles, including solutions, but please do so only in threads marked as spoilers, and please hide your spoilers and indicate what you are spoiling. Someone might want to see spoilers for Beta but not Delta, for example. |
