In this week's Creatures Online update, the team largely tested the most recent additions to the game, including the Science Kit!
Chemicals will be displayed by category, the graph only displays the selected chemical, but when no chemicals are selected, it shows all the chemicals together. Injections will come at a cost - we will have to buy them. Most chemicals are 'generally cheap' except for food chemicals or life. |
It is hard to contain the excitement of working on Albian Warp, and I know that beyond ham5ter and I, there is a good number of the community who are brimming with anticipation! So, here is some news for you:
In the coming days I will be setting up a semi-dedicated AW server to perform some updates and testing, regarding the AW messaging system.
Depending on how well the server stability holds, I will be allowing any enterprising Creatures Caves people to register. It won't be anything fancy, mostly just for testing out the registration and login system outside of us developers.
You can read the details about this and see the current short-term road map, over on our blog! |
In this week's Creatures Online update, the team improved the readability of the Science Kit, by adding short descriptions of each chemical, adding the ability to display only one chemical, and adding a warning label next to some important chemicals when they are dangerously low or high.
The ergonomics of the Norn Collection screen (Nornopedia) have been worked on as well. |
In this week's Creatures Online update, the team are implementing more components for the Crafting Machine, including a wheat plant which drops wheat for cookies.
The team are also currently working on a genome issue which affects all genomes created by crossing two parent genomes - all eggs laid by pregnant norns. At present, they will not hatch.
The Android version is still being worked on! |
In this week's Creatures Online update, the team is working on some features which can't be shown because they're still in progress. Instead, we're getting our first glimpse of the Crafting Machine!
It will allow us to get some objects by combining various components, which are released when norns do actions. (For example, watering a plant, using a toy, tickling a critter...) If we get impatient, we can buy the components for the crafting machine with our Golden Eggs, but all the ingredients will be available to us through regular gameplay. |
In this week's Creatures Online update, the team worked on some technical fixes.
Whenever we sell an object, a message is now sent to the server, which means that selling objects will be easier to handle. A "stage" server for testing patches has been implemented. The presentation of the science kit is being worked on. The genome patch tool mentioned in the last update has been finished. |
Liam has returned from his adventures in the United States and brings with him some much-awaited news! Thanks to the generosity of Ylukyun, C2toDS Beta 3 now has a new home and is once again available to download... With an added surprise! Liam wrote: You'll also note two new downloads - a hotfix for the frogs (which must be REMOVED first, then injected), and C2toDS at night, which... you can probably guess what that does. Have fun, and don't forget to leave your comments and feedback in the corresponding topic! |

I'm excited to announce that CC Chat has moved to its very own server, created especially for the Creatures Community and our purposes!
You can now visit us at creatureschat.com to directly join the #Creatures IRC channel, or you can continue to use the chat applet here at Creatures Caves. For IRC clients, you will need to change the server address to irc.creatureschat.com (SSL users: Port 6697).
Please don't hesitate to ask myself, or one of the chat operators, if you require assistance with the changeover; we'll be happy to help. Happy chatting! |
In this week's Creatures Online update, the team worked on a tool to allow them to modify the norns' genomes in our worlds in case they need to update the genome past release.
They also worked on an improvement of the loading screen, and prevented the game from crashing due to its search for a pregnant male norn model!
You can also check out a current group shot of the Cacti on the Fishing Cactus Facebook page, released for Social Media Day. |
In this week's Creatures Online update, the team have been busily preparing for the closed iOS beta.
However, the development team still managed to:
- update the localization file with some new entries
- fix some arrows displayed as default textures in the world monitor
- do a small improvement of the backsave system
Don't forget to keep an eye on the Creatures Online Facebook page over the coming weeks! |
Hi there! I would like to let the community know about Albian Warp, DS Warp system replacement being built by ham5ter and me.
Albian Warp is a community replacement for the long-defunct Docking Station multiplayer server. There is no real feasible way to reverse engineer the original server protocol as there are no packet dumps anywhere, so ham5ter came up with a workaround. We are now implementing this workaround so that we can all start sending and receiving creatures (among other things)!
We do a lot of our discussion in the forum here, and in the CC Chat. Today, we also opened a blog, where we will be posting significant development updates.
Let us know if you have any questions or comments (and please read the forum post to see if it has already been answered)!
Oh look, a green light! ![[ngeek] [ngeek]](/images/smilies/emot_geek.gif) |

Ham5ter has developed a CAOS syntax highlighting module for the free text editor Sublime Text 2, which will let you read and interpret your code more easily when viewing it in Sublime Text 2. Download the addon here! |

In this week's Creatures Online update, the beta has been validated by Apple - make sure you enter the contest if you're eligible! Some minor fixes were done in preparation for the iOS beta.
The game has launched for the first time on Android - it still needs to be re-ported with the latest engine for the best possible performance. |
From the Creatures Online Facebook page comes the following:
Last Thursday we presented you the Gene Splicing Machine of Creatures Online, which allows you to create countless unique Norns. In today’s contest we would like you to guess, how many different variations of one Norn can be created by changing its genome via this process?
Post your guess below until Monday the 23rd of June at 5.00pm (GMT) and get the chance to win an official Creatures Merchandize package, consisting of a Norn figurine, a hardcover notebook and access to the iOS softlaunch phase of Creatures Online. The nearest guess to the actual solution or the first correct answer getting posted wins and the second- to fifth-placed users will also be able to get their hands on an iOS beta code! In case of identical correct answers, the first submitted answer will win.
