He returns several hours later covered in mud and carrying a sack, explaining this took him longer than expected. From the sack he takes a live (but stunned) Goshawk, and throws it in the general direction of a strange, complex purple plant, which grabs the Goshawk with a tentacle and devours it whole. Watching with amusement, Hannibal suddenly becomes bored, and decides he has had enough of plants for one day.
He thanks his sister for showing him around the Gardens, and gives her a parting gift; one of Zetta IV's manuscripts that had found its way into his possession, documenting in detail some of the more ferocious plants she had engineered. He hopes the information contained within will be novel and useful.
