I'm for it, although I would like to throw the fact out there that there are not a lot of members without Creatchis. So these new eggs likely would not be adopted for a bit, or until Creatchis start dying of old age. Love the monogamy feature: It's something so hard to come by in the real games! Ha ha!
One way that this might make sense is if people could "reserve" an egg for when their Creatchi passes away. I know I would love to adopt Tyrion's child, but it would have to involve some good planning. Just throwing that out there! Not exactly a necessary feature or anything. I usually make things hard enough!

If you allow 2 children per couple, they're breeding at replacement rate. Not sure how relevant that is because of 1st gen eggs, but I'd like to see it anyway! |

I'd tend to agree with Laura, it sounds like a great idea on paper, but might lead to an overabundance of unadopted eggs.
Maybe give it a test run of a week or so, and see the effect on population before finalizing it?
Otherwise, Beowulf thinks having a matching son and daughter set would be the bees knees.
My favorite norn is still Belldandy. |

Mind if I make a suggestion?
Is there a way to check to see whether a member has successfully raised one creature before letting them adopt a Gen 2+? A lot of us have put quite a bit of time into raising our creatchis and having them breed. It would be a shame to have an inactive member adopt one of our babies and just forget about it. Maybe require someone to successfully raise one generation 1 creatchi before allowing them to adopt any gen 2s. It's just a thought.

What happens if noone adopts an egg? Gen 2 eggs are predictable in their species and even their sex, unlike Gen 1 eggs. Some eggs may be less desirable due to their species or sex.

Considering 4/5 of the current eggs are female Nornchis, you might be on to something. |

ylukyun wrote: If you allow 2 children per couple, they're breeding at replacement rate. I think that could be good -- a limit of two eggs per couple. And I have the feeling that not all couples will be able to breed before old age, due to the mismatch in genders and species available for breeding at any given moment.
kezune wrote: Is there a way to check to see whether a member has successfully raised one creature before letting them adopt a Gen 2+? I really like this idea. I think it would be quite feasible as well. I'll take a look into it.
Malkin wrote: What happens if noone adopts an egg? At the moment eggs just sit in limbo in the 'hatchery' until someone adopts them. Perhaps there should be an egg expiration date? I don't think it's necessary though. I think once all the 1st gen Creatchis pass away, everyone will be adopting 2nd gens.

That's a sad thought - Your Creatchi went through all that to get an egg, noone adopts it, and it goes bad. . . . Facts of real life though.
I think limiting Creatchis to one spouse but allowing two children is excellent, but I'm also in agreement with those saying it might either produce an overflow of unadopted eggs, or it could be great replacement rate of adult Creatchis. I think testing it out for a few weeks is the only way of telling. There's been a nice increase of Creatchi owners lately, and some are doing a great job of keeping active and responsible!
Hint though, I still think as someone mentioned once, having a #10 on the My Caves main page in the suggestion of things to do list being getting a Creatchi would be a superb idea/thing to add to the "to do list".

Are teddy bears really rare to get? I don't need any..but the only ones I have is from the ones I got for free.
Also, is there a rare chance of a creatchi producing twins? |

Are you really sure the item balance is alright too? I already found both, balls and apples by the same actions. Yet balls are pretty rare, at least to me.
My ball count dropped to 0 now. I still got one teddy left, then I have to see what I do.
But honestly: something can't go right when you have and get more apples than you ever need, but run out of toys!
EDIT: See? AGAIN! After I clicked post, I found, guess what, an APPLE! Sorry, but when it continues like that I probably won't be able to keep my Creatchi much longer. I don't wanna be forced to rely on begging for stuff and I really can't think of enough material to post in order to have a tiny chance on finding more items. I don't want and I won't spam the forum by talking garbage.

It's just about where you post. I have far more balls than apples, more apples and balls combined than any other, but true, my teddies are the smallest stockpile.
If you find yourself posting more forums than bibbles or bibble comments, switch it up. Or if you find yourself doing the opposite, well, switch it up. That should help with the ball/apple ratio.

I think it might be useful to tell new owners how long it takes for their egg to hatch because we're likely to expect it to hatch as soon as we adopt it and leave for awhile once we realise it's not happening.
I can't tell if it could prevent some death but I guess it would truly help for us to know when we should come back or adopt an egg. I'm pretty sure some people end up thinking that it might take a few days to happen.

I think to adopt an offspring egg the user should have to disclose their email address so we can harass them in case parental neglect arises.
haha mostly kidding, I like the idea of spamming someones cell phone personally |

I don't know about an e-mail to harass, but an e-mail to let them know that their creatchi hatched would be lovely. : D I like the PM system now, though. : D

So..I've noticed many Senile Creatchis that are about to pass on..but how will you be able to tell if it was simply from old age..? I HAD predicted that you would be able to tell if they were smiling in the pictures..yet..checking the graveyard of the senile creatchis that have moved on..no smiles. Will there just be no way to actually tell..?

Yeah, I feel that this is something that it would be really nice to change! It's a bit heartbreaking to watch a creatchi live a long and seeming happy life, only for it to go with a deadpan expression . . . was it's life unsatisfactory in some way? |

Can dead animals or Creatures smile? Maybe I'll add a little badge noting that the Creatchi lived to old age to distinguish it from other neglected dead Creatchis.

I'd assume that users who get bored and leave their Creatchi will check back within three days, which is approximately how long it would take for the Creatchi to die of neglect as a newborn.

I noticed the sad expression too. Perhaps another feature you could add would be to be able to customize the picture frame around a deceased Creatchi? |

I do have a question, where do you get more food?
...and then I regret posting that two seconds later. |

You can find more Creatchi items by actively participating on the website and forums. For example, posting forum topics and replies, bibbles, comments, images, downloads, etc. However, it can be down to pot luck; sometimes you may find an item at random, but sometimes you may find nothing at all. The idea is to keep hunting for rewards.
Posting bibbles and comments is almost guaranteed to earn you an apple or a ball though. |
