Phew! I thought that my sudden absence might cost me for a bit there...

However, I'm going to be very... Sedentary for a few days. I just need to catch up on what everyone was doing while I was busy. ^_^

I'm kind of curious, how will ties be handled in the future?

Rock paper scissors? A coin toss? Maybe.... space phaser duel?

I really hope it's a space phaser duel...

In this case, it wouldn't really have been fair, because ettinmaniac hasn't logged in for a little while. The best thing to do is try to get as many people as possible voting, so that any ties can be broken naturally.

Examples of tie situations in Survivor and their resolutions:

Tie Scenario 1

User1 - 3 votes
User2 - 5 votes
User3 - 5 votes
User4 - 2 votes

Even though Users 2 and 3 are tied, since they both have the highest vote count they are both removed from the island.

Tie Scenario 2

User1 - 2 votes
User2 - 7 votes
User3 - 3 votes
User4 - 3 votes

User2 is definitely removed from the island, since s/he has the most votes. However, Users 3 and 4 tied, so only User2 is removed this week.

Ties such as the one in Scenario 2 have one side effect: They lengthen the total time of the game by one week.

Week 2 Results

Malkin and ettinmaniac have been voted off the space station. There was a tie for the second person off the island between Malkin and ettinmaniac last week, so apparently voter mentality wasn't swayed much by week 2 journals.

Additionally, the following users passed the contest this week by posting an exploration image in the art gallery:

Meanwhile, the following users failed the second contest:

We had another great week of journal postings and events on the island, and DarbyDoo kept us all up to date on the goings on of Survivor: Space in her column. I wonder what week 3 will bring...

Week 3 Results

rubberducky and NimhsLab have been voted off the space station. The players had a break this week as there was no contest announced, however there will be a contest during Week 4. [devil]

Rascii, a part of me expected this update to potentially be:
"I was about to say that everyone failed the contest, but I then noticed I had not posted one this week."
Though, I more expect you to have done a break on purpose, and I must thank you for it!

I missed the first couple of weeks because I wasn't able to keep up with the journals. Now when I'm voting, I go for those who clearly aren't active in posting. After that, I'm basing it off of quality of the journal entries. You don't need to be posting like crazy to have a good journal: A good storyline often only requires occasional efforts every few days!
