Does anyone else enjoy making themed worlds? I plan on making a heat-themed world.

Do you mean making metarooms or just worlds with themes? I do love making themed worlds. My current wolfling world is Chione, and is mostly themed around cold and there not being much food. Another themed world I have is this one and it's just your basic underwater theme.

Yep, I do all the time. I've got one specifically dedicated to C2 with strictly C2 and optional C1 breeds, one strictly dedicated to C1, one with C3 docked and there's food supplies in every room except the main passages, etc. I can't do things like toxic worlds though, don't have toxic norns.

There are toxic creatures other than the Toxic Norns, such as the Plague Ettins.

That reminds me, I meant to ask yesterday- does anyone know of any toxic Grendels? |

On Toxic Grendels: Look for "Toxic Grendels" and "Contaminated Grendels" on this list.
Back on topic: my worlds are themed around whatever metaroom I decide to base them on. I rarely make a multi-metaroom world with a theme.

No not my game play style but I think a toxic world would be good as well as an aquatic world when I have time to set them up. Or something more exotic maybe a candy world. |

When I make fantasy-themed worlds, I use the updated script that allows crossbreeding. However, in my more realistic or science fiction-themed worlds, I don't.

Mine are usually forest themed with plants everywhere but I usually just decorate the world and not put Creatures in it. |

I guess so. Hadn't really thought about it. Usually for different projects like wolfling runs or taking pictures though. |

Mine only tend to be themed in terms of what sorts of creatures I'm going to put in them- this one's my general world, that one's my toxic world, that one's my aquatic world, that one's my Grendel world. |

Yeah, I theme mine by breeds too. I usually create worlds to test out certain mixtures and/or as playgrounds for agents I am working at.
Additionally I usually have some kinda scrap world where all creatures go I sorted out elsewhere, but are too good/interesting to be just killed. There's usually the biggest party going on

I usually just hatch masses of random creatures plus every agent I feel like having no matter how ridiculous XD So my worlds are mostly a big silly mess. |

I love making themed worlds! Especially using agents like the garden box. I usually try to end up doing Wolfling Runs and such in them, but I lose track of that because decorating is too much fun...
My favorite themes are probably holiday and seasonal ones. I loved turning Chione into a winter wonderland.

Speaking of holiday-themed worlds, I'm thinking of doing a big Halloween-themed world this year (like I did with Chione last year). As decorating Tulu would be overkill, I'm considering making over Ainarda. It has a surreal element to it, and darker areas that could make for a nice effect. Plus, it's massive, so there's plenty of room for decoration.
This all makes me wish I could code better. If so, I would try to make a haunted house kit for the Garden Box. I might be able to make creepy windows (ooh, if I could animate them and have ghosts appear occasionally...) and gravestones, though.
Ooh, it'd be awesome to have re-sizable, semi-transparent decorative screens that work like filters. It would be a subtle, but cool touch to darken (or add a colored filter to) the scenery. Not sure it'd be possible, though.

I love making themed worlds.
I have a sort of forest themed wolfling run, with Veridia and Gardenia, and a lot of natural agents. However, it also had some gadgets, and the justanut, lemon, and carrot pods from the Meso.
I also have a home themed world, where everything is warm and light and there's lots of food and toys and anyone who is sick gets healed immediately.
Once I made a natural world, where I had a bunch of nature themed metarooms connected by torii and elevines, and disconnected from areas like the bridge and the hub. Once that was set up, I made sure to delete any non-natural things, like cheese vendors and DS elevators, and replace them with natural substitutes, and then I put in a bunch of nature themed agents, like the Cabern Tree.
A lot of times I just go by what breeds I'm using, like when I was testing out the Colortrue Pearl Mermaid Norns by filling the Capillata with water and all the aquatic agents I could find.
Sometimes, though, I just make a world and go through the agent injector, adding anything and everything that looks interesting or useful.

Right now I have a Halloween themed world on DS filled with Gargoyle norns. They don't seem to mind all the spooky stuff I put in it.
It's been a lot of fun so far, so I've been thinking about doing a Christmas one with Santa and Fallow norns sooner or later. |

A metaroom with four floors each a different season or time of day would be cool, I think. |

@ TigerCivet: Pretty simple. Start up a creatures game of your choice, create a new default world and add rooms or COBs/agents/breeds which fit the same or a similar theme.
BAM, themed world.

Hmm, sadly I don't know of many good tutorials if any. There used to be some pointers including programs like WorldBuilder.
I'm actually curious, but don't expect answers, how many people create their own agents for themed worlds for their personal enjoyment without releasing them, hehe.

Liam wrote a long tutorial, for the CCSF 2006, called 'Creating a Metaroom'. You can find all seven parts, and the introduction, in our Resources section. I hope this helps! Don't forget you can always ask the Development Forum and the Hack Shack if you have any questions too.
I've never created themed worlds, is that strange? I've often just slapped different agents and metarooms together, although these days all my worlds have been called 'Test' for testing my new agents. Maybe I should try having a grotto-themed world for Christmas! |

Hey Laura, more than half my worlds have weird names like "just a test" or "all the rooms" or "sdggh" since I do a lot of testing

Same here! My worlds' names is either one of those, the type of creature that's in it, or just Albia. ![[nlaugh] [nlaugh]](/images/smilies/emot_laugh.gif) |

I name my worlds random things. Fort Spaghetti, Jelly Bean's Hideout, Pancake's House, or sometimes I go crazy with Latin and call them Terra Parvi (Land of the Small) or Dulcis Parum Albia (Sweet Little Albia).

I had a world named Mobula Ray for the longest time because I used to like to pretend I was a Shee and had my own space ship. So I still use that name alot for my worlds. Well that or Wolfling Run. I seem to always have a wolfling run world.

not sure if this counts, but i have a world named new ettinornia (it used to be called ettinornia but a metaroom caused it to lag painfully so i had to export everyone and delete the world) and i'm planning to make it city-like, by using that one metaroom that lets you build houses and stuff and whatnot |

Mine have been "The _____" for ages- main is "The Source", toxic is "The Corruption", C12DS is "The Beginning" and so on. ("The Source" was from an old, old fanfic idea I eventually decided would work better as original fiction and then never wrote anyway.)
The exception is "Aperture Science", my testing world. c: |
