Norns don't live forever, but sometimes they can leave us in heartbreaking ways (even though Norns can't be considered alive, it is really quite saddening when a Norn you are really attached to dies.) Please post your saddest Norn death stories here.

Here's two Norn deaths that made me quite sad. My two C2 Mernorns, Neptune and Peaches, had both bore two beautiful children, but I can't remember their names. One was a boy, and one was a girl, and while exploring the eastern ocean, one of them pressed the spring. This sent Neptune onto the Island of Love, near the Love Horn, and I desperately tried to get him back into the Ocean. Sadly, he became trapped in the boat, and soon dropped into a coma. I didn't know how to inject him with defilbrillant, and he soon died. This also happened to Peaches, but she went into the desert. :( Just as she got to the pier, she fainted..... :'( I was devastated.

My VERY first time playing C3 standalone, in 2005, was saddening. I had a family of Bruin norns, A mother, father, two daughters, and a young son.

I had no intrest whatsoever in getting the powerups; I was having a great time caring for the family of five.

I had also forgotten about the grendels.

Eventually, one came into the Norn Terrerium. I panicked and tried to guide them all away from the brute.

This went on all over the ship until I only had the youngest child, the boy, left. I exported him, and didn't play the game for months.

RIP

ps. I haven't played Monster Raannnrrrnnchhdoggy

I had a really cute fallow norn named Oki. He was just a child; happily playing in the DS and all of a sudden, he just died. I looked to see what was the cause and he had died of a disease, yet he showed no symptoms of illness. ;__; Rest in peace little Oki...

Azumizai sent me one of her tests, a green Siamese Norn named Asatarou. He was very neat; I kept injecting him with Life so that he wouldn't die. One day, he wandered into the Grendel Jungle. I brought him out, but he DIED.:(

I also had this Grendel/Norn splice named Roald. He was mostly Grendel, but wouldn't hurt a fly. He was soooooo sweet... Then he got into the Ettin Desert and died.:'(

Oh Asatarou... How we'll miss thee.

My saddest norn death had to be of my 2nd norn ever. Julie. She was John Tomato's 'wife' I suppose, and she and him had two eggs together.

I really was quite crushed when she died. When I was little really believed they were alive, so whenever something happened with them, I'd get shocked, happy or even sad...

Ah Julie...

I've got two saddest Norn deaths, and they both apply to the same three Norns.

This happened not long after I first bought C3. I had accepted the option of importing two starter Norns. I immediately liked them. It wasn't long until they had a baby. I brought the baby up to the garden and the parents came over to see it. Then I brought the ball over and they all started to play with it. The ball bounced over toward the stickeltrout pond (as usual) and they chased after it. Then all of a sudden and for no apparent reason, the baby DIED. :( The father was over toward the stickeltrout pond trying to get the ball back, but the mother was right by her baby when it happened. She walked back over to it and tried to tickle it, smiling. Then her face fell, and she squatted down next to it and just sat there. The father came back, but he stopped when he saw the baby. He didn't say anything, he just stared at it for the longest time. Finally the body disappeared, and I led them away.

I tried to get them to mate again after that but they really weren't feeling up to it. They spent their time in the treehouse eating apples. Then, for no reason that was apparent to me, the male died. :( The female came over and started saying "me like Norn, me like Norn" over and over. He didn't reply, so she crouched next to him and waited until the body disappeared. It was very sad. :(

I geted very sad when my first C1 norn died her name was Lea. The story: Lea was a happy norn whit long blond hair. she was living in a world whit 7 norns and geted her second pregnancy whit my other norn Aqua.(Aqua is a Purple Mountain norn) I guided Lea away from her family for feed her some herbs. Finally she laid her egg. A grendel was coming! I hited the grendel. And said to Lea: ''Lea run grendel'' She runed away and was still healthy. But then she geted sick! Carbon Monoxide and Fever toxins and a bit sleep toxin. I geted panick and guided her away from her family again. i feeded her herbs. Morning Glory, Feverfew and... the flower for fever.. I tacked care of her but she was not get healthy. She was now almost dead. I bringed her mate her......lover. I thought the moment never was going to end. Zingo(Lea's mate) was standing beside her and looked at her sleeping. 5% life force left i said my last words to her: ''Godbye i love you''. Lea said her last words to me.. ''Lea push Emma''. And then she died.Zigo said: Zingo stop norn''. I even cryied. That was the last from Lea.

once, ages ago, i had a family of eskimo norns living in the desert in ds docked with c3 and c12ds. one of them layed an egg, so i stuffed it in the c3 incubator. meanwhile, it's dad had wandered over with a stuffed bear from c12ds. he looked like he was waiting for it to hatch. when it hatched, it walked around for a few seconds and then died. it's dad dropped the bear and actually put on a sad face. it then refused to leave the body even when it dissapeared and later starved.

aw man i cried so hard

Yeah the Autonamer is for losers who can't think of a creative enough name, lol!

I think the saddest for me was my first Pixie norn (C2) For a while, it was just my family who got "turns" to play C2 - And I watched them all do it, and over time I fell in love with the Pixies. So when I finally got to play, I hatched my own Pixie. She was an average colored female, but to me she was the cutest darn thing around! Sadly, before she even got to socialize with other norns - She died. I cried SO HARD for SO long it was.. rediculous. I was also about 8 or 9 years old, too.. But it was tragic. While typing up its headstone thing, I was just bawling..

But then I found this site that had an adoption area for every color of Pixie imaginable! Yay! .. But I never got to adopt a single one because my "mommy and daddy" couldn't let me download anything, so.. The site closed down about a year later, then we moved, then C3 came out, then.. Things moved on.

Ooh, I have a couple here:

--1--

Several years ago when Docking Station was brand-new and full of life, I got a norn through the warp with the name of Azami.

She was a girl, a baby with a grendel tail and a little green tint. And she never aged.

She lived a really long time, outliving several generations of creatures. She became like the cute little mascot of the world.

So when she just up and died one day, it was really surprising and depressing. At first I felt just a little sadder than usual when a norn died, but then several times later that day I found myself absentmindedly going to check on Azami out of habit, only to remember she had died. After a while I just stopped raising norns in that world. I didn't realize losing her would be so depressing.

--2--

Creatures 2 was the first creatures game I owned. Anyone who has played C2 might see where this is going...

So I hatched my first pair of norns in my Vanilla C2 game, no patches, no updated genome, nothing. Freshly installed from the CD. I was so excited... I did everything I could to raise them right; I tried to get them to listen to me, learn to talk, learn to eat, and so on. I kept checking their age every five minutes to see if they were ready to breed yet. I wondered what their baby would look like. The suspense was killing me.

Then, for seemingly no reason in the world, they died. I remember staring at the screen, just awestruck with terror. I was like 12 at the time... they were my first norns... I seriously walked away from the computer and cried for a few minutes. I was so confused...

Later I researched it online and learned of the faulty genome and downloaded an updated one. Things went a little better after that, thankfully, or my Creatures hobby might have died right there.

--3--

This isn't sad as much as it is kind of pathetic.
Once I was conducting a C3 feral run and had my eye on a particular mommy that was breeding a lot. I watched her as she laid an egg, walked off, and got pregnant again. Then she came back to her egg, and just as it hatched, she beat the baby to death.

Now I know this was a feral run, but I felt the need to interfere with this brutality. So when she laid her next egg, I took it from her, hatched it, exported the norn, and brought her into my non-feral world to spoil her to death.

Well this "rescued" norn was considered very special, so much so that I felt the need to keep a running story of her every move. Though as time when on I wasn't documenting her life as much as I was forcing her into awkward situations to make the story more interesting (Like.. making her "swim"...). Also a several parts of her life were selectively left out (like the part where her mate was also her son and nephew) So I decided that when she died, I wanted to be holding her hand, just to make it more dramatic. Of course, to do this, I had to know when she was about to die. So when her "life" chemical was really low, I took her into the aquatic room and held her hand and waited for her to die. And waited. And waited. And actually fell asleep waiting. When I woke up several hours later, she was long dead and decomposed. I was disappointed, but still wrote her "dramatic," "devastating," and "traumatic" death into the story.

That was about as corny as it got. I still have that story somewhere too.

I once had this beautiful C1 Norn named Filly, who laid an egg hauntingly close to the Grendel Egg layer (the Grendel was out on the other side of the tree bridge at the moment). Just after she laid it, she was whisked away by an elevator by some random male Norn that wanted to flip from the emotions "high up" and "low down" for the next half hour, so I sat there to watch the egg.

It hatched to be an adorable White Pixie Norn, which I named Nigel. But only moments after he hatched, the Grendel returned. But rather than beating the poor Norn out of his misery, the Grendel started to tickle the Norn. I don't even know how, since I didn't inject the "Grendel Friendly" agent into that particular world.

For the next two hours, I watched Nigel and the Grendel romp around Albia together, an inseparable duo of wanderers who basically avoided other Norns for a long time. I genuinely think that Nigel believed that he was a Grendel. But I still didn't interfere.

Eventually, however, they ran into this big group of female Norns, and the most peculiar thing happened. One of the girls, Fayja, ran over to them and started beating up the Grendel. The Grendel didn't even defend himself, but Nigel began to attack Fayja. Almost at once, Fayja turned away from the Grendel and began to unleash her misplaced anger on Nigel.

At that inopportune moment, several other female Norns joined in the jamboree and began to attack Nigel as well, to the point where his pain percentage got too high. As much as I desperately wanted him to live, and continued to inject more energy into him, I couldn't keep up with four feisty females. He died only one minute after Fayja's first assault on the Grendel. :'( I was so upset that I literally cried.

The Grendel lived for about fifteen minutes after. He just stood there, by the body of Nigel, for the longest time. He refused to leave his side, and eventually died of starvation.

...

Dangit, now I need to write a story about it. xP

The saddest deaths for me are for Rodolphe and Alexandra, two C1 norns.
Rodolphe was my first Norn. We was exploring Albia, and he death in the island's underground. In this time, I didn't know that there is the "laboratory tool"...
Alexandra was dead because she was old. I never forgot her.

Harvard, definitely. I was playing with the Midsummer norns (for C2) shortly after they were released and I had two adult first generations mate. When he was born, he collapsed within seconds. I checked the science kit (and eventually the genetics kit) to figure out what was wrong and I was horrified to see just how mucked up his respiratory system was. He had three left lungs, no right lung, he couldn't process oxygen, and I think he was missing a good chunk of his brain.

I worked for about an hour on his genome, trying to replace the missing genes and fix the botched ones, but the deeper I dug the more mutations I found. And the worst part is I kept injecting clones of him to test my changes and he basically collapsed over and over and over again. -_-

Finally I decided enough was enough and ended it, but that death's always stuck with me because it showed me just how little I actually know about genengineering in that game (or, alternatively, just how effed up a genome norn can be born with). Only second generation... I have no idea what happened.

I remember when I imported one of the forest norns, Nancy. She was a very sweet norn, the only one who could actually take care of herself. XP

She lived a good 10 hours or so. She used to love to play with the banjo toy (this was Terra Nornia). One day, she just died. I placed her body in the carrot patch, and placed her banjo on top of where she was. Now, the banjo marks her grave.

The saddest in my world was one I had caused from complete, noob ignorance.

I had the sweetest 7 minute old Expressive Civet named Bovia. She had an unusual obsession with the jack-in-the box... but it was taken by an older norn whom immediately teleported away.

She was so sad she was having trouble eating. I had just downloaded the Halloween pack, and handed her the frank-in-box. She died of fright the instant she activated it.

Did I mention I'm a complete noob?

I had once an Ettin. it was a mix of 2 genomes I made by myself (one gets food from using machines and buttons. the other one gets food mainly from being around other ettins).

the ones that only use machines to get their food are very allergic to Food, Fruit, Seed, Critter and all that stuff.
that was fatal for my Ettin, because it decided to try the taste of some pieces cheese...

maybe it was suicide... -.-

I've had many norns that died shortly after hatching..
I've had a sad death last month. I couldn't save a Flora/Butterfly norn named Tenar, that I wanted to use for further breeding. I even made my DS game crash on purpose, so it couldn't save her death, and try it over and over again. But her fever developed so far, she simply kept dying. So I gave up, very disappointed after all the attemps.
Another sad death was the death of my very first norn ever. I even almost cried about it. But I told that story in a different topic..

Officer, were your C2 norns hanging around in the volcano? That increases the risk of mutations.

By the way, I don't care if anyone steals my ideas for their own work, as long as you don't try to stop me from making my own stuff. Many ideas I mention are things I don't have the time or skill to actually do.

My saddest norn death had to be a 4th generation mixed apple norn girl's (I completely forgot her name... I never remember names >.< I know it started with D though...). When she was born into my Docking Station and Creatures 3 world, she did nothing. She looked at nothing. And when I used an agent to teach her words, she only said one thing: "eat something". I put food and toys in front of her, but she didn't use them. I also put her near norns, and a feisty male tried to kisspop her, but she didn't kisspop back. She was always hungry as well, and I was always injecting food chemicals into her because she wouldn't eat herself. Sometimes she walked, but whenever she did, she only bumped into walls, and that seemed to discourage her because whenever she hit a wall she'd sit down. I finally guessed that she must be blind, for she was not able to see anything. All she did was repeat "eat something" over and over. It finally got so depressing that I injected a small amount of ATP Decoupler into her, and she died in the medical bay as an adult, for I had been keeping her alive for some time.
