I was wondering, how did everyone come to be in the world of Creatures? I'd like to know your stories.

I was only 1 when Creatures 1 came out. When I was somewhere around 5, I got this little tamagotchi like puppy v-pet doodad. Man, I loved the thing.

Then I discovered that there were pets on the computer, too! When I was 7, I stumbled apon this site. This is where is saw a norn for the very first time in my life. I remember asking myself, "How do I download it?".:\

One day, somewhere in March 2005, my friend, one of the most popular kids, installed Dogz 5 on one of the computers at school. My friend let us each adopt a few petz. I eventually got my dad to get me a copy, which i love. :D

Then, the day before my 10 birthday, I said to myself, "Okay, I've known about this "creatures" stuff for how long and I haven't found the download page? I'm gonna find this thing and settle this(and find out what the heck a grendel is)!" And so, I found DS. My jaw dropped as soon as I fired a world up. KEWL!

Soon, I thought that there might be some downloads somewhere for creatures. Petz, you could customize EVERYTHING. Creatures seemed a bit more advanced to me, wich surprised me even more when I found some downloads.

The first creatures website that I ever saw was AmberCreatures. This was the place I downloaded DS from. I went to the links page and explored.

About 50 downloads later, I stumbled apon this website. I quickly joined and went around doing stuff.

About 3 months later, I joined the Gameware forums and recieved the whole "Please leave your sanity in the skull shaped basket by the door and please take this bag of quirky cookies and a fish" thing. I still keep my sanity in a refigerated locket (so it doesn't rot;)), though.

A few weeks ago, I ordered C2 from Amazon. It's fun, but REALLY hard. The only way I could get the powerups was to use the blueberry cheat, however, I had *2* creatures activate them maually. And they were both ettins!:|

Yay a chance to talk about myself!

I had C1 since...whenver it was right before C3 came out. Lurked sites, yadda, yadda.

I consider myself having joined the creatures community in April 2001 when I decided to go into JRC one fine evening. My fifth CC anniversary was a few months ago! I was in like eigth grade back then when i first came around. I stuck around for a while. I'm kind of in and out of the community right now (college sucks the life out of me, free time is a concept, not an actuality).

Yes, I'm the forum [devil]... Any questions?

When I was 5, my parents suddenly bought a game called Creatures. It entertained the whole family, and had us loving it so much I was impatient to see Creatures 2 come out. I got them all, then suddenly heard of Docking Station. After its release, I gave it a try and began to learn of JRC. I've lurked on every CC site since the 90's, but just learned of and joined the CC through JRChat, and also found Creatures Caves days after finding JRChat. From there, I went on. My CC anniversary is in October, but my JRC anniversary included with Creatures Caves is January 8th. Right now it has been a total 3 years I've been around, almost 4.

When I was younger I saw C2 packaged with one of those cute little norn dolls and I had to have it. I enjoyed playing the game, but didn't really understand a lot of the concepts it utilized.

A few years laters, I got more into it as my interests in science and computers developed and started visiting sites to download gengineered norns with lots of bright colors and breeds like the Mer- and Scorpio norns.

Finally, I started posting here in the Creatures Caves forums and JRChat around 3 years ago and have been around the CC on and off ever since.

My Mum bought me Creatures 1 in 1997. I wasn't interested at first, but she insisted and bought it for me anyway. It won me over though, because it was during the time of the “Tamagotchi craze” in England and I was pleased how Creatures revolved around the same idea, only much more advanced. I was very much hooked.

I didn't have access to the Internet back then. So when I returned to the series again in 2003, (I had Creatures 2, 3 and Docking Station by then) I used the Internet to expand my games with agents, COBs and new Norn breeds. One of the first sites I visited was "Helen's Bibble Directory", and I loved reading the "Ask Trish" column there. I only really started to get involved in the community though when "Ask Laura" was up and running. I joined this place on June 1st 2003, and started the column two days later.

And I've only started frequenting JRC recently, due to angel's methods of persuasion. :P

Well when I was about 6, my uncle bought me C1, but I didn't like the look of the box, it kinda scared me for some reason!!!
When I was about 12 my cousins were sleeping round, and they saw the box and asked if I could install it, so I did. And loved it ever since.
We played that game for eight hours straight. It was amazing. :D
Played that for a few months when my dad rung me from a computer fair, saying C2 was there and did I want it, so I did, and the first time I played it I didn't really like it but soon i grew to love that as well.
By this point I was looking on the internet when I found loads of cobs and stuff, and just the CC in general, and the old DS forums which i became addicted to, as well as the game. Eventually I got C3 off ebay.
I can't remember how I found this place but somehow I did...so yeahh. And then my computer broke and I lost all the games...:( I have DS and C3 reinstalled but I really need the first 2 as those are the best in my opinion.

When I was around 6 - 7 my nan brought me creatures, dunno why, but I was hooked to it!
I didn't know there was a creatures 2 or 3 until around 9 years old, I brought them and just became more hooked, then I found DS and found an old site called creaturesinc.com. (Some of the older members will remember that site. ^^) I loved the adoptions there, then I was checking out the links page and found Creatures Caves among them, I joined it and went on JRC, starting from then, I classed myself as "fully" in the CC.

I did post on the old CL boards before creatures inc, not often however.

That's my story.

My wiki page tells part of my story, but not all of it. Creatures was a birthday present for me, about circa 1997. I hatched my first norn (I still have a copy of him!); played with him and his friends that followed, and generally had a fabulous time.

Then I found the Internet and it all went downhill from there. My poor Norns were suddenly covered in a variety of COBs and their world changed faster than their poor heads could keep up with. Great times. Then one day I stumbled into JRChat and promptly got kicked by someone for using too many emotes. I eventually came back, and then just sort of stuck there. I got C2 right after it was released, and it instantly became my favorite game, so I decided to make a website for it. And so on. :)

C1 came bundled with Oddballz when I was, uh, 9? 10? No less than 9, because it was in Arizona. In any case, it kept my attention a little longer than oddballz. And now I'm here, doing what I love. Yelling at you guys.

When I was very young, my dad got me creatures adventures for my birthday. I loved it! On my next birthday, my dad found creatures playground. I loved that.

One day I was looking on the little book thing that came in the CD case when I found an ad for a game called Creatures 3. But it was only when I was 11 when I metioned it to my dad. My dad found it on the internet, and it came. I played it for a few months, then stopped for a little while. Then I found it again. Then I decided to find out more about the game. I typed in "creatures 3" in a search ingine, found out about agents and breeds that were made by people, then stumbled upon this website.

My family bought Creatures 3 when I was 16, but it ended up getting ruined. Probably because someone let the CD fall on the floor without picking it up. :P

When I was 18 or 19 I discovered Docking Station and Creatures Caves. I lurked, posted once or twice, lost internet access, and came back again awhile later. :P

My sister got Creatures2 for her birthday when it was first realsed, but it wouldnt play on our old, batterd windows 95. Much later, when I was about twelve, we got a new computer. One of the first things I did was install creatures, I'd always loved the cute little ettin on the cover. A month or two later we got internet acsess where I discoverd the CC and dockingstation

I first discovered Creatures when I was at my cousin’s house-that must have been around 1997/1998.

At that point, I didn't even have a computer so we always used to play it when I went to his house. Back in 1999, I finally got a computer but I didn't get Creatures 2 until Christmas 2000. I became hooked to the game and spent hours upon hours playing ('til my eyes went watery and stingy- perhaps I now wear glasses because of creatures :P ? ).

I didn't realise there was such a vast online community until back in 2001, on my 14th birthday, I stumbled into JRC (with a different name) and totally annoyed everyone (think I got kicked). Came back with a new name and I will have been there for 5 years this November :)

My mom hooked me on C2. She played it constantly. I waited to play and she let me. She had to reinstall C2 at least 20 times, I used to mess 'em up all the time in some way i dont remember - I think i was 7.

Im not sure but it would be the only game i played. But i lost that CD - but last year i got a new one. I hooked myself on C3 and docking station, but i lost the C3 disc. Last christmas i got a new one. I'll say, what is it with me and losing stuff?

Docking station is messed up - on one computer eggs dont hatch, errors pop up constantly and creatures dont breed unless its docked. On the other computer theyre all immortal and i cant figure out how to fix it because i dont have a backup folder...

Can someone send me one? Im desperate here!

Post edited by mod - sorry but it was really hard to read. Maybe you could check what you've typed before posting? That would help.

About six years ago I wen to the store with my mom. I was about 7 at the time. i saw the game Creatures adventures on the shelf and i was dying to get it. I begged my mom to get than she finally gave in. (I'm not spoiled). Than my sister and ihave been playing the game for hours and days and months. About a year later I got creatures playground and creatures 3. But when my cousin was over my house playing creatures 3 she was shocked to see how violent it was :$. My mom noticed it too and she told me not to play it anymore :(. A couple years later I talked my mom in to getting the game again and she gave in. ever since than I played. Last year i got creatures exodus and for Christmas this year I got Creatures and Creatures 2.

Violent? I'm really just dont see how. I have DS and I cant think of any way in which it is violent at all.

Anyone care explaining this?

Well, this could be a pretty long story but I'll try to keep it short.

A long time ago, in a country far far away, well, ok, just over the sea actually, I was watching the news and heard about this odd little programme where one could raising 'artifical life' creatures called Norns. Now, I didnt expect to find it and when it was at the very next Computer Fair I went to, well, it was too much to pass up. Thus, addiction. Eventually I got C2 and C3 as well, but they are still over there in the UK and I'm here in America (long story) so, for a while, it drifted out of my range of interests.

Until the other day, which is when I heard about the 'Albian Years' set, the one that supposadly works on XP? It was more than I could resist and, with a little more research, I quickly stumbled upon the Creatures Wiki and this whole massive online community teaming with 3rd party CoBs and Breeds that I had never actually been aware of before! Looking around I found this site, and these forums and decided it would be a good way to find out about other fans of the series. So, here I am.
O and hi, by the way. :)

I got C1 for 1$ at a dollar store about one year after cyberlife died. After I played it I felt shocked that such an amazing leap forward in virtual life would be a buck. I wanted to strangle the store manager! Ive never had any other creatures system ever. Ive installed and re-installed it countless times, and i never get rid of it! Even when I learned that it was bugged and couldnt be upgraded!

Nine times have I been told im crazy and ten times I have accepted it.

First post! Truth be told, I really don't know how I got into creatures. I first got C2, then 3, but I don't remember how... They just appeared. Anyway, I played them for a while, but never got really interested in them. But now, three year after I last played C3, I am getting back into the game, and the community to boot. So, I guess this is hello. I was introduced to this place by Jacob, btw. Hello Jacob! And greetings to Laura, I guess. :)

When I joined the CC, I had never actually heard of or played creatures before. It was three to four years ago and Dragongirl told me to check this place out. I really loved it and felt at home.

I first signed up to cc.com then to albia. Then I figured if I'm going on the forum of a game, it may actually be wise to buy the game itself, so I bought the PS version which I loved.

I'm the evil ancient community guy. Several of you said that you considered yourselves members of the community when you stumbled into JRC. But alas, I predate JRC.

I came across C1 by way of a junior high friend. I enjoyed it, but I really got hooked when I found ICE chat on LummoxJR's website. There I could learn some of the finer workings of the artificial life from some of the community legends - LummoxJR, AntiNorn, StormPike. I've been in and out ever since then. Mostly out, though. I pop back into the community on roughly an annual basis. :)

Its a sad story, really. Sahkmet, over there, is my sister. So I heard it from her that her friend had this really cool game that she wanted. As soon as we got it in the mail, I tried it out without consulting her and I thought to myself, what the...? I had no Idea what was going on, what those weird looking brown things were, and what on Earth was happening. I quickly shut it off. But as soon as she came home she started playing it, and taught me what to do.

But the really sad thing is, I have no Idea how to download more and different norns. Or items, for that matter. We don't have Winzip, and I would appreciate knowing a site where you can download it.
