Huh, I think I've heard of Terragen before, but I don't think I've ever messed with it before. I may have to check that out sometime soon. Thanks Elthar.  And thanks Malkin for making the news post!

I'd like to add that Terragen has a free version, and it's much better than Bryce for rendering landscape, plus you use a free package of XFrog plants with it. Also, if by any chance, you have access to Mac OSx there are cool free 3d programs on it, too, like 123D Design by Autodesk - a very simple to use program, not unlike the one Google made for 3d, but more complex and developed at that. There is also TerraRay, a package for terrain rendering, which is on sale until the end of the year with 50% discount, I bought it for less than 15$ and it has all the features of "bigger" products - volumetric fog, materials, erosion, vegetation... | |||
