Strangeo Forum RIP, Steve Irwin   1 | 2 Jacob      9/4/2006 Source THE Crocodile Man, Steve Irwin, is dead. He was killed in a freak accident in Cairns, police sources said. It is understood he was killed by a sting-ray barb that went through his chest. He was 44. He was swimming off the Low Isles at Port Douglas filming an underwater documentary when the incident happened. Ambulance officers confirmed they attended a reef fatality this morning at Batt Reef off Port Douglas. It is understood Mr Irwin was killed around midday, Eastern Australian time. Irwin leaves his wife Terri and young children Bob and and Bindi. I had alot of respect for Steve Irwin, he would put his life on the line to get amazing footage for us to watch. RIP, Steve Irwin. The guy always had me in awe with the way he handled those snakes. I feel really sorry for his wife and kids... But maybe it's a consolation that he died doing what he loved best - what a way to go though!   Jacob   9/4/2006 Yes, he got stung in the chest, the barb would of penitrated his heart. Not really active around these parts anymore.   Megan   9/4/2006 I woke up really early this morning and turned on the T.V to that awful news I think other than Princess Di and Spike Milligan, it's the only famous death that I've really felt sad about. He was extremely un-lucky, a doctor was saying there have only been three recorded incidents of a sting ray heart penetration. I think a tragic accident like this was inevitable. I wouldn't have been that surprised to hear of him getting hurt in an incident, because that was very likely, but to get killed. It's terrible. I feel so bad for his family.   Tails   9/4/2006 Felt really sad when I heard it this morning. The man handled all sorts of dangerous creatures and was practically invincible. Like the others have said, I feel really sorry for his wife and kids. His kids are fairly young- how are they supposed to understand? Ugh, I could never stand his show, or the way he exploited the animals in order to get press. I couldn't stand him from the first time I saw him, years and years ago. In a way, it makes me want to say "I told you so" Nonetheless, it is sad indeed. He was a great conservationist, regardless of his methods, and losing him is a loss to much endangered wildlife. I may have hated the guy, but i didn't want him dead. Its definitely a shame to see him go, moreso since this was a situation in which it was so unlikely to happen. Yes, I'm the forum ... Life does go on. Maybe she'll go one and marry another crazy crocodile lover. And Neverwinter, its not up to you to say who deserves to be hated or not. I never liked him and that's my personal opinion - its not out of spite, I just really disliked the way he did things, the way he ran his shows, the way he... just was. I found him to be a very unpleasant person. But at the same time, he deserves to be remembered and he will be - look at how fast the news spread and how touched everyone is. I'm not denying that he was good at something or other, I just don't like the way he went about those things. Yes, I'm the forum ... Any questions? I never liked him. How in the heck will the crocks miss him? He toyed and wrestled with them all day.. How is he educational? He's a stupid showoff- he's like those boys who think it's cool to do something life-threatening and daring. I think he got what's called karma. Sure I think it is sad he died- but I never saw good in him. Sorry folks. You say he wresled with 'em? Thats the only way to get them without harming them if interupting body-functions (AKA, shooting disruptive darts to calm one down, witch by the way doesent really work on crocs anywhay). And he was an actual human like you and I. If you werent friends with your brother or sister, and they died, would you laught at theyr funeral? And I'm not going to answer your question either, for it has two answers and both will go somewhere bad. Besides, I didn't say I was entirely glad of his death- but one last question- if he wanted the crocs in their right place, why not just leave them be while educating the audience? You don't have to be a man to come up and restrain them, bothering their lives so often.. Err don't answer that. I thought is was a joke, or I didn't read it right. But I looked online and it was proven true. I told my parents, and they were suprised. Do not upset the ugly worm, lest it be a dragon in disguise.
