yes. I think this is the closest thing that allows me to have them as pets.
funny enough in the novel version, mogwais were created by alien to be the perfect pet, but something went wrong, which resulted a large number of mogwai to become evil and turn into gremlins.
i like to think the shee did it. |

I forgot to introduce myself. I'm cyborg, I discovered the Creatures series as an adult. And then I become obsessed with the Creatures franchise to the point of thinking about it nearly everyday of my life for the past few months.
I'm an amateur coder and a decent artist. |

Welcome, GhastlyMirror. If you're feeling adventurous, try looking for archived site urls on the Creatures Wiki. The Creatures Community has had a long list of websites that have risen and fallen over the decades and they (especially the ones before 2010) collectively give a very good insight into the culture and traditions of the community.
Who knows, you might even find a forgotten download or two in the archives of the really old ones. |

Hello, I'm THEdragon. I got into Creatures Docking Station a few years ago as an adult, and recently bought Creatures Exodus. I am fascinated by the complex digital biology of the creatures, and I am interested in creating my own custom grendel breed. |

Greetings! I'm Ar3dhel, I was massively into the Creatures series in my childhood and teens, and have just recently gotten back into the games and started wondering why I ever stopped playing them. |

Also greetings! My name is Quil, and Ar3dhel got me back into Creatures after also having grown up with them and not played for a long time. I used to program terrible attempts at C1 and DS Fangames in python when I was a child, but now look back and shudder. I would like to get into COB and Metaroom creation, but am not quite sure where to start. ![[nquestion] [nquestion]](/images/smilies/emot_question.gif)
So long, and thanks for all the fish! |

Oh I forgot to even make a welcome post haha!
I'm Karithina, I got C2 (and a norn plush) from a Scholastic catalogue when I was 7 or 8. My first norn was called Destiny, though I accidentally drowned them before I knew I could pick them up out of the sea 😠I've been playing on and off since then, and Creatures had a pretty hefty weigh in on my life choices because of that haha.
I was fascinated by the AI, and it's why I did IT in high school, though I've ended up in graphic design - art is my stronger point 😂 I lived in Germany while in uni because I was learning the language since so many Creatures sites seemed to be in German. I also got into a lot of different sci-fi so that I could understand the references in different people's creations 😊
Cut to now, I'm very excited there is still an active community, and I'm finally brave enough to be a part of it. I'm interested in eventually making something to give back for all the great downloads over the years, but I haven't decided yet what â¤ï¸ |

Hi everyone, I'm Gem. I was about 9 years old when the original Creatures game was released and I've been hooked ever since. I've gone a long spell without playing due to not having a PC set up and Windows 10 compatibility issues but I've finally got Exodus and Albion Years functioning (admittedly with a couple issues I'm still trying to iron out).
I used to be pretty active on some creatures forums waaaay back when. I forget which ones but it was probably here on Creatures Caves. I was super excited to find there's still an active community and it's been amazing tracking down a lot of the breeds and cobs I had all those years ago.
Looking forward to getting to know you all! |

Hi, I'm Alyssa. I was 10 or so when Creatures 1 came out, and I got really into the game and the community. I was pretty active on alt.games.creatures, and wrote a fair bit of fanfic I am almost physically incapable of rereading anymore , most notably the Grenorn series.
I never could get into C3/DS, but I still love C1 and C2 dearly, and it's been a real treat to discover that there's still a quiet but active community. The CC was such an important part of my childhood, and I'm really happy to see it still around in some form. |

OH MY GOD YOU WROTE THOSE? I read them a year or 2 ago to pass the time at school and they were kind of hilarious (the mental image of one of the white fluffy C1 norns cursing out another norn is so...) but I genuinely loved how sincere they were. being able to write silly stories and not be judged for them was one of the best parts of the pre-social media internet imo. |

I WROTE THOSE! God, yeah, it really was just purely, unselfconsciously writing whatever I thought would be cool and dramatic at age 11-13. I loved getting to participate in the community in that way, and I hadn't 'learned' to feel ashamed of my hyperfixations yet. I'm so glad I had such a safe and supportive space in my childhood to just play like that without any shame. I'm still trying to relearn that sincerity as an adult! |

Can't believe these games still have some sort of community! I used to run the website 24th century creatures in like 1999 and wasted way more hours of my life than was healthy at the time in jrchat and in msn with ping, Ali maggs, fuzzie etc etc. |

Howdy! So uhh I'm Cherry, I actually haven't played the games yet (I wasn't born when the earlier games came out, I'm a 2003 baby woo) but I plan on buying it soon! I've always been interested in breeding games and AI stuff, especially older ones, so I was definitely really interested in it upon finding out what it was about
I'm not the most forum savvy, but hopefully, I can get decently used to this site! |

I can't express how cool it is people are still engaged with this content.
I'm so old I had it when it was new, then I rebought the DISK around 2011, lost it a couple years later. Then here I am again in 2021. I wish I downloaded it at the start of quarantine, but I made those first few months an offering to Animal Crossing instead. I guess cute stupid AI-type animals is just my gaming style.
I also love tamagotchis and I think all the fans of virtual/electronic pets would be blown away by this game if they ever played it. It was before its time and is like tamagotchis on steroids.
I need help making multiple worlds before I fall back into this hole. I have to figure it out BEFORE I make a bunch of babies and get attached to them so I don't **** up and lose everything.
Don't look at my profile its basically just a repeat of this.

Hi I'm Sera, a 35 year old welder from Illinois who ended up falling back into Creatures on a nostalgia kick. Can't get docking station or Creatures 3 to sense eachother so it's been interesting but... it's been fun.
Thinking of breaking out my old pixel art skills to make a new breed, honestly... could be fun. |

Hi everyone, I'm Cordo, a 40 year old loner from mainland Europe. Some of my recurring interests and hobbies are: evolution of life and intelligence, image manipulation and drawing, electronic music, pc games and modding.
About a week ago I stumbled upon the Creatures series and have been playing DS and testing additional content since then. I must say, I love it so far. |

I don't really know what else to say here. But it's a pleasure to meet you all and to be finally back in the community. |

hello! i recently noticed the creatures games were on steam, and since as a kid i could never play the game we had because my older sister's disc was too scratched by the time i could play it, i was a bit interested!
the fact that this series has a living community is awesome to me - i love it when older games still have a dedicated fanbase this long after they've come out. i'm a fan of the old petz games, too!
i don't know how active i'll end up being on these forums - i'm not a very talkative person {and i'm usually doing other things like playing ffxiv}, but i still wanted to leave an introduction here |

WHADDUP?
I started playing Creatures when I got the first game for one of my birthdays as a child. Played C1, C2, C3, DS, and a little bit of the PS1 version for years. I was looking some things up this year out of nostalgia and I reinstalled as soon as I noticed that not only was this game on Steam, but the long-lost breed packs were there as well. I missed my Toxies so much.
Genetic manipulation and running feral runs/experiments is the most interesting thing to me. I used to do the tamagotchi/pet thing as a kid but I don't really have the patience for it now, as well as two actual real furry pets to take care of. |

Hello there! I used to frequent JRChat back in the day and was absolutely obsessed with all of the games. It blows my mind that there's still an active community! I believe I tried to get C1 working on one of my laptops some time ago to no avail. It would be interesting to delve in to it again.

Hello! Unlike many people here, I didn't grow up with Creatures, but I'm absolutely fascinated by the series! I've been messing around with the games since I picked them up on GOG a few years back. Now I'm enjoying the semi-recent Steam releases that fix some longstanding bugs and issues. I'm considering getting into making agents and suchlike, but I have no background in scripting, so it would be a bit of a slog at first, haha. Regardless, maybe it's a good place to start learning such things.
Cheers!

Hello! I'm a recently turned 30 year old man from Idaho.
I've been playing creatures 3 on and off since practically when it came out,
but it's only been a couple weeks since I mustered the courage to join the forum. I'm in the Process of creating and modifying several objects for the game, but it will be a while before they're ready to post. Ill let you know when they're ready! |

Hi!
As you can tell from my username, I’m autistic and into aliens! Creatures was a big part of my childhood and I hope to get back into it soon. I’m interested mostly in the Shee and their lore, as well as the first guy I ever obsessed over, the Lone Shee! So feel free to chat with me about those.
I also like robots, AI, cats, animals in general, reading scifi short stories, writing poetry and fanfic, plushie and book hoarding, and more!
I’m excited to join this community and I look forward to my future adventures here. ^^

Hi, I'm cutecabaret. I never played Creatures before, but the name sounds familiar? I found this place while googling for forums for virtual pet games, I used to play them all the time as a kid and I'm trying to capture some of that childhood nostalgia, lol. It's so hard to find forums that are still active today, I'm happy to have found this place. |

Well, hello there! If you are new to the games, there is a couple of ways you can pick them up. While it is possible to get the old original disks, it can be..... complicated to make them work with new systems, unless you know your way around a VM to run an old operating system.
Alternatively you can pick them up on GoG.com for a few bucks (and they are often on sale too). They require less fiddling than the original releases, but some tweaking is still required.
Lastly, you can pick up Creatures 3 and Docking Station from Steam. Those should require little to no fixing if you are on a new-ish computer. DS is meant as an add-on for C3, but it can be played on its own as well. Your choice how much money you want to spend. Going by the steam page, they actually added some optional quality of life features as well.

Hello!
I remember being very young when my dad came home with the original Creatures game and I fell in love with it immediately. I was so upset when my first ever Norn ate a poisonous flower, developed a cough and subsequently, died.
Creatures 2 will forever be my favourite in the series. I feel the graphical style of the third game lost its aesthetic when they attempted to give the illusion of "3D".
One thing that I wish was implemented in the series, was... pooping. Such a vital aspect of the handheld Tamagotchi, teaching kids about hygiene, but not present in Creatures? What a missed opportunity
If you guys haven't seen this video before, I thought it was fascinating:

So yeah. Just thought I'd say hi before posting properly. |

Welcome!
You know what's funny - Creatures do urinate, but invisibly. And some of the critters poop, also invisibly. I have no idea why that same solution couldn't have been used for creature poop. They also have no explicit bloodstream 'out of the box', just a sort of chemistry sea. Their biology is... funky. But still fun!
Conclude with killer catchphrase.
