Well, in my forum feral run, a few of the names stood out.
Kappsune's Fallow norn is named "Sick Cushion." I wonder how a cushion managed to get sick, though. It was probably hanging out in the Jungle with the rest of the norns.
Her Dream norn is not much better, "Taboo Earthquake." Well, I guess making earthquakes taboo sort of makes sense, but I don't thank that will solve the problem.
Rat-tailed's Zebra norn, Dezzy, was at first called Zonked Pigs.
Finally, for a name that I thought pretty, not funny, Grendel Man's Magma norn is named Dusty Clouds.

Admittedly the Culture novels of Iain M. Banks have been out quite a while - first one was published in 1987 - but I've only just discovered them. More importantly, some of the spaceships have names that sound like they came directly out of Protective Tub - things like Prosthetic Conscience, Irregular Apocalypse, Armchair Traveller. Also some great grendel names from the warships - Attitude Adjuster, Nuisance Value, Injury Time. I think Screw Loose would work quite well for an ettin. Think the next wolfling run stage I do I'll name all the offspring with Culture ship names instead of the autonamer. Full list of names on Wikipedia. |

Recently, two names from Protective Tub I got really stood out. Illustrious Owl because I think it's beautiful, and Obscene Station because it made me laugh. Then again, "Obscene" makes any Protective Tub name funny (to me, at least.)

I got so close to having a creature named Protective Tub. Instead, I got a Turquoise ettin named "Protective Club". So close. XD

I'm starting another semester of college soon, and I got a relevant name (especially considering how I was last semester) from Protective Tub: Overconfident Test.

I remember why I love this agent, I just got a Grendel called Swanky Shoes. One of her parents was called Measly End, and he died when a Norn randomly decided to kill him.

I had a grendel named Friendly War who proceeded to eradicate my norn population during an experimental wolfling run.
Other somewhat amusing names I got are Useless Cabbage, Worthless Purpose and Obese Balls. Poor guy...
Edit: I think I have a new winner. An adorable little second generation hardman norn just got blessed with the name Filthy Grandfather. |

Yeah, I got several amusing names from that thing, I love it... Right now I have a norn called Mature Advice, who is VERY friendly in a mature way (she seems to be exhausting the poor males... ) and one of her children came out with a nice color mutation that made him a pretty purple, and he got named very fittingly: 'Purple Color'... I've had several others that made me laugh too or fit remarkably well, but I can't think of them now... Oh, I had a short-lived Ettin in that same world named 'Ill Cough'.

Just caught up with Kezune's blog, and the tons of baby geats. I liked two of the names in particular: Beligerant Snow ("I'm going to snow and there's nothing you can do about it, so there!" and Dysfunctional Mitten (a mitten with no thumb?) |

Heheh, well, here are some norns in my new wolfling run:
Silent Pollution, Sick Quill, Hot Magic, Spiteful Zipper (LOL), Makeshift Manager, Far-Flung Seat, Exultant Scissors, Squeamish Daughter, Blue-Eyed Pencil (because, logic)
Just to name a few...
I particularly love Spiteful Zipper.

My housecleaning spree continues. I used some carpet cleaner today that smelled like artificial freesias, and thought what a good name that'd make for a norn. Today I started looking at the window frames, and the more I looked, the more dirt I saw. It was like mandlebrot filth - and I've got to name a grendel that the next time I play! |

To give the grendels in my wolfing run identifiable names while exporting, I injected Protective Tub and removed their default Wolfling Namer names.
Among the ridiculous names I got:
*Assorted Bite. No thanks, one kind of bite is enough.
*Dramatic Writing, aka what I hope to do on a regular basis some day.
*Fearless Cloth. Well, that's one way of describing the American Flag (or any country's flag, really).
*Historical Protest. Does that mean this grendel is the Boston Tea Party?
*Idiotic Crown. Well, some rulers were morons. It must have rubbed off on their headgear.

I just got a Norn named Chunky Geese. More interesting names include:
Internal Fairies (like butterflies in your stomach?)
Internal Ants (even worse)
Few Bear (as opposed to many bear?)
Bright Disgust
Worthless Tax
Awful Rice
Far-flung Meal (food fight!)
Thoughtless Hate (poor thing)

In an outstanding bit of luck, I have just hatched a Dark Banshee Grendel with the most fitting name of "Pretty Beast." Pretty accurate way of describing his kind, I think.

I had an Ettin who was named 'Chunky Waste'...
Other cool names I got recently testing my hardmen and grendels: "Handsome Form", "Friendly Baby" (Ironically on my first CFF Hardman hatched from parents, though he really was pretty friendly, at least until about 10 minutes old when he killed his first jungle grendel...), "Cute Feet", "Adamant Balls" (on another Hardman, yet... Adamant, now that's hard...), "Incandescent Coil" (this creature came out of a light bulb apparently), and "Enchanted Pets"...
Oh yeah, "Crabby Balls"... This guy was a Hardman in the middle of wars with the Dark Banshee, so I kept seeing 'me hate crabby balls', 'X dislike crabby balls', etc... Crabby Balls was not very popular in that world actually, even the other Norns said they didn't like him except a male friend of his that hatched around when he did.

InsanityPrelude wrote: Sounds like you got a slider- not surprising if he's part Dream Norn, they're notorious for that.
There is an alternative Dream Norn genome you can get that is much more compatible with other breeds, you have to hunt for it a little on Amanora's site, but it is there. Butterfly Norns have the same issue with their original genome (it's basically the same as the Dream Norns other than their attraction to flowers), you can get an updated genome for them too.
