Sabertooth Norns

Hello!

SpringRain here with another plea for help (I seem to have a lot of these) ^///^;

This time it's my little darlings in KT. (Thank you Ghosthande - it is wonderful.) They are happy and they 'like' me to death. (Lol). But they are VERY homesick. I'm not sure why...

I put in a Norn Home smell emitter agent which I downloaded and they like to hang around there, but they still complain of homesickness and won't leave their safe cave. Is ther anything that might help them?

(Their names are Saberlin and Sabrine, btw. ^_^)

I had that happen, too.. They were constantly complaining of homesickness, I eventually just exported them. I don't know what causes it. :\
Edit: Cute names by the way :D. Sometimes I really think Norns just complain about homesickness to hear their own voice :\

Hmm...exporting... what a good idea!

No, no, I am just kidding. Lol. XD I only export really sick creatures, like sliders, etc. I don't think home'sickness' counts so much as a life threatening illness.

I don't want to export them though, otherwise my Sabertooth Norn world will be empty and sad. But there has to be some way to help them with their home sickness.

Also, thank you, Yamishi! ^_^ Hee hee! I named one of them after a character of mine.

ditto that Springrain,i think theyre adoreable and i also noticed that, but thats not my biggest prob..

my prob with the ones i got from muco the egg layer,was that they won't fight back the rexes,they let themself getting eaten ;__;

so later,i tried to test out if only the sabertooths was like that or any other as well,so i hatched 3 creatures with a bad temper that could probely withstand the rexes, namely the hardman, beowolf and a banshee grendel...so i made copies of them and saved the originals, and yep,all of the acted brave at first
then as quick the rexes came and nibbled on them they run and was in apin,no energy to fight at all,not even when they had the chance...later i thought there must be a way,so i hatched a female chameleon ettin, since i know my ettins been good survivors and isn't defeated easy..had allmost right there,Charola enjoyed beating the rexes, following and hit them til she was tired or wanted to do something else, and that lead to her death, but she was most effective..

so i spliced a chameleon and a sabertooth and got a "genetical breed" kinda..Siver was the female norn i got wich lead this genetic breed i call, she looks like a sabertooth, has a slight coloration and has this temper as my chameleon ettin (added her in DDBA Bank) and injected more of it and they actuly made a group of fighters of the rexes, prob is there was one big and 3-4 teen/baby rexes and just one of them didn't know when to stop "eat" even when slaped,it got slaped, turned away, then just exact after quickly turned around to try take a bite and so,while the other fled and wouldn't try to take a bite til later ^^'

In short,The Sabertooth i got from muco all died if i tried to teach hit beast, they where unable to survive and i tried it 8 times O.o' and even with theyre offsprings *gen2-3* My idea was to make a genetical breed myself using sabertooth sprites fo my own use, since i only seem to have this prob *hopefvully* and then i got myself a free genetical breed by just having my splice Siver there XD

The rexes is really anoying and i had to kill hots the one that acted strange, the other did i leave as it is..
I also wondered,is there a way
to realy have a wolfling run in this world, without being there and babysit cos of the rexes is there O.o *is the real answer realy to kill hots >_> *

(also i only got once 2 sabertooth eggs injected in KT,and the first female did i export, the male did i just test out to try "hit beast and he actully did it o.o I don't belive the muco and the ones injected in the world uses diff genoms.so im puzzled o.o' )

as for the homesickness no clue what to do,i was curious about the lowest part in TK,that part with a levetaror leading to a empty room,
my norns see's something but nothing is there,i got a answer that it might be "nornhome" ..

and sorry for the rant X_x
i probely should have made my own topic ^^'

All my creatures in KT are allways homesick. And my sabertooths are allways slapping and 'disliking' each other.

I'll have to look into the homesickness thing. Do all Creatures really have this problem? Just one species? Just this breed?

I'm already working on an add-on for KT which will (among other things) make the Rex "nicer". I do think they're a bit more persistent than they ought to be.

You're right that the invisible thing in the lowest level is the Norn Home.

And if anyone else seems to have problems with overaggressive Norns in KT, make sure you aren't letting them play with the WAR DRUM... because frankly, it makes them killing machines. I think I'm going to have to put something about that in the readme or on the site.

[edit] And if anyone else needs to cure their Norns of hit-eachother-syndrome, use this cheat:

urge writ norn -1 2 -1 2

This will cure the currently selected creature. They'll still be angry for a while but they will be back to normal. If you want to cure everybody, use this cheat:

enum 4 0 0 urge writ targ -1 2 -1 2 next

This is another thing that's going into that add-on...

Lol, I hit the war drum probably 20 times while my one Saber-Toothed Norn was around... She got really mad at me for it :$ XD.
They only seem to be homesick when they go into KT... Not in other rooms like the Norn Meso.

I don't think there is a norn home CA emitter in there.

In my nerd cave, nobody can hear you scream.

Wow, Norngirl...your Sabertooth adventures sound more interesting than mine.Lol. And Siver sounds cool.

As for the Rexes, I don't mind them being vicious. It gives me a nice challenge. Usually I find things too easy so it's a good change.

@Ghosthande: I'm not sure if all the Sabertooths have homesickness. I thought it was just my norns.

(Ohhh, so that's why they keep trying to 'approach Norn Home' down there)

Actually, I was testing out the war drum with my Norns because I was curious to see what it did (despite the word 'insidious' in the agent help. XD) and it almost killed Sabrine! I told them to push toy and then she pushed it, but Saberlin ignored me. I hit it a few times as well. And poor Sabrine went on a mad rampage. She kept saying "hit norn" and stomping around, (into walls) and forgot how to eat. She wouldn't do anything I asked her to, like 'rest'. Or 'eat' and she was starting to starve to death. I wondered why she wanted to hit norn when it would have been perfectly acceptable to say 'hit Grendel' or 'hit beast' instead. XD

Anyway, she was dying and I panicked and so - the only thing I could think to do was...

Inject the inseminator and get a dna sample from Saberlin and make her pregnant.

It worked. As soon as that happened, she calmed down again and could be put back with her mate without hitting him to death. He still likes her and she likes him so I guess it ended well. ^_^

Except that he died of being eaten by Rexes later on...

Poor Saberlin...

I don't think there is a norn home CA emitter in there.

There are at least three. They might need to be "cranked up" higher though, if Norns are still complaining this much.

It seems a bit odd that I haven't had any Creatures complaining of homesickness myself, but I'm counting at least 4 people now who have reported their Creatures doing it, so it's clearly a genuine problem.

I just figured it was my game: my Sabers were complaining about homesickness, too, so I threw them in the Norn Meso and they were still complaining about being homesick. They're not the only breed I've seen do that, though, so I figured something was just "off" with my game.

Still loving the breed and the metaroom, btw, especially now that I've sat and played with them for a bit (so I should stop asking you stupid questions like "Where are the baby sprites?" and "How I mine for vegetation?" :P ). I even found a cauldron recipe!

You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. If that leads to somewhere unexpected then perhaps you really needed to go there.

I can't even get my Norns to tell me they're homesick--even if I take the emitters out they're still "intensely secure". But I know about how high I need to adjust the CA's to, so they can go approach cliff edge. [devil]

Ghosthande, have you thought about writing a sort of guide to tending to Sabertooth Norns? I love these guys...loved them ever since I saw your avatar months ago.

Mine don't seem to have problems with homesickness...yet.

I eventually took them out of KT and plopped them in the Meso because of those Rexes. xD

But they won't eat. Well, one of them didn't, anyway. He just stopped eating and croaked it, leaving the female all alone.

I still have Ghost Norn sprites, aren't new sprites supposed to replace old ones? Creature sprites only unpack if you use Muco, I've noticed...
Also how do I remap breed slots/know what breeds I have? I'm actually willing to remap the Ghost Norns over Bengal/Bruin/Civet because those breeds are BO-RING

New sprites don't always replace old ones, no. There's nothing in the game that actually tries to remove the old set--the new set will overwrite the old set if both match up perfectly, otherwise, you'll still have bits and pieces of the old set left.

Also how do I remap breed slots/know what breeds I have?

You have to do three things to remap a breed to use a different slot: rename the sprite files to point to the new slot, and do the same for the ATTs, and edit the genome's 'appearance genes' to point to the new slot.

As far as figuring out which slots are already used, I usually just look up breeds online, there are plenty of breed lists out there which list the slot they take.

I've had...something of a breakthrough. Maybe it was just my first family of norns after all. Because I hatched a male after Saberlin was...er...eaten, and he turned out just fine. :D No complaints at all: "me intensely secure" It was music to my ears. (Or is it my eyes, since I'm reading it?)

I hatched the new norn's egg in the DS Norn meso, then moved him to the Sky Sanctuary room with another Sabertooth (Katt, daughter of Saberlin and Sabrine).

Also, Katt is the sister of Kitt, and Katt's colouring was mauve-pink at child and teen stages!

*Edit: Also, another problem -never mind, I'll start a new topic for my new problem.

As a solution for homesickness, I've discovered that grabbing Vampess's Home Smell Parfume agent setting it to red (norn home), and placing it in the corridor just under the temple cures all my homesickness worries. ;)
