ID: Specimen 2026.3 Egg Laid: 2/25/26 Researchers Notes: 2/25/26: I had MUCO lay me a random female ettintchi egg. Waiting on it to hatch in the incubator! 2/26/26: The ettin egg hatched into a beautiful little golden ettin. This ettin's fur glistened as it hatched from the egg. I swear it smells sickly sweet, like the aroma of an apple left on the table for too long. I'll have to watch this ettintchi carefully, it looks like MUCO's gene randomizer has pulled from my database of genes which I have collected as my ship travels from planet to planet. That yellow fur pattern and those golden yellow eyes remind me of something...but what is it? Update: 3/5/26 So after testing some fur and mucus samples for DNA strands and hours and hours of pouring through my library the old fashioned way...I've discovered that MUCO seems to have taken strands of DNA from an brachiating animal from a distant jungle-world and combined /that/ with a tiny plant sucking organism from earth known as an Aphid. The brachiating animal (which has no common name) produces a thing slime thoughout their coats to reduce mite-load. And the aphid naturally excretes a sticky sweet substance known as "Honeydew" from its rear end. Combined the two animals appear to end up with an ettin who constantly produces honeydew from her fur. Which the other creatures seem to have taken a licking too! She is constantly being preened by her cohabitants here on the ark. Unfortunate that she's not a norn! All of this attention seems to have made her a little claustrophobic and she is constantly asking for more space. I shall have to make her a special "leave me alone" pen in the habitat so she can retreat. I wonder if she can climb! Maybe I could plant a fast growing apple from the Norn Meso! Nectar is saying "Retreat Norn!" |
