This was easily the best birthday of my life. I already didn't mention it at work since otherwise, it's basically mandatory for the one having the freaking birthday to bring in some cake him- or herself. So I didn't expect anyone to say anything. What I didn't expect is that nobody seemed to remembered at all. Except for my family, and how glorious that was! I was gifted a pair of one dollar store gardening gloves along with an order to weed the yard. Whee! There wasn't even any cake. I always knew I'd end up like this sometime, but at 22 already? Life is tough. |

Oh man, what a depressing birthday. I'm sorry to hear it's not what you expected, Zweitausend. I'm a bit taken aback with the gardening gloves story! Could it be that asking you to weed the yard was just a ruse, and maybe your family have something better for you planned later tonight?Failing that, do you have any friends that you could spend the evening with? I've always found my birthdays to be more enjoyable when they're spent with friends (my parents aren't really party people), and last year I bought my own cake. Anyway, here's wishing you a happy rest of the day regardless! I hope you finally find something to cheer you up. Whatever you end up doing though, just make sure you do something nice for you! |

I doubt it. Mother especially jumps at every opportunity to not get off her butt and let someone else do the work around the house. And my sister is too busy browsing facebook to contribute anything to the household. Besides, it's 8 PM over here already. The day is basically over. Laura The problem with this is that none of those so called friends of mine (none of which reacted, too, even though they should've gotten automatic notifications via Skype - shows how much they care) live anywhere near me, and I'm not a drinker, so there's no point in just going out into some night club, either. I hate to sound like a whiny little birch, but there it is. Now, if you excuse me, I'll make a cup of hot chocolate so massive I'll probably get sick because of it. |
