Creatures Caves

After Dom confirmed all those magnificent things I'd heard from Blitz, I stared out at the ocean for a while, watching as the calm sea turned to rough surf, and began to beat against the scattered rocky outcroppings as the wind picked up.

"We should probably move!"

Dom hollered, raising his voice above the whistling wind and the crashing of the waves. I agreed. When I reached the boardwalk, I found a console beeping in an attempt to get my attention.

I really don't want to do this, but I have to. I have to go back to the planet. I am to collect rock samples from a certain sector of the planet below. There's very little information on it:

"Environment: Desert
Glowing Rock deposits in nearby canyon, just past the bluffs.
Warning: Hostile tribe of creatures possessing strange powers lives near canyon. Do not attempt contact."

And then there's a rough map. I can barely make out the details for all of the monsters drawn on it. Is that meant to be a compass rose? Maybe not- it's labelled "glowing lights".

So, maybe the canyon is to the west? South-ish? Maybe? The console did give coordinates. I guess I'll just have to hope they take me to the right place.

Dom has kindly given me a cloth bag to hold the rocks in. And with that, and quite unwillingly, I'm off.

Well, so far, it's a canyon. With bluffs nearby. Not all that special, really. Well, a spirit did manifest itself from my staff. I know what you're thinking: it's about time, right? Everyone, including me, knew this thing was haunted. It was only a matter of time. Did that stop me from screaming? Not really. Did it stop me from catching the attention of the "hostile" tribe? Of course not.

They're not so bad, really. They just spit whenever I mention the bluffs. I didn't want to linger, but just as I was leaving to collect more rock samples, a massive sand storm began to blow in. Fortunately, they weren't quite as terrified of the long-dead monarch who manifested from my staff as I was, nor surprised at all by my tale of conspiracy and journey across the known universe, or my dealings with a half-borg.

I would still like to get back to the ship, but the sandstorm has only been broken so far by mysterious lights in the sky. I'm really getting a feeling that this is not the sort of place I'd like to stay.
