Hello, everyone! Welcome to the new Development Forum here at Creatures Caves. Please feel free to begin posting any questions or scripts you may have for developing new agents, metarooms, etc. for any of the Creatures games. Please be sure to provide as much information as possible when asking for help, and utilize the new [ code ] tags for pasting blocks of code.
Feel free to also post questions about development for your website, including HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, etc. and I will be more than happy to assist!
Also, you may wish to check out the new CAOS Chaos section which has been archived from Edash's Creatures. When following the tutorials, if you run into any trouble, please ask for help in this forum.
Good luck!

Hey all,
Great to see.
My suggestion--please, please, please. An index thread for all known tutorials. There are some great tutorials out there, as I recall, and I'm sure new users would appreciate having an index for them!

Sounds like a great idea! (and welcome back! )
I personally don't know of the tutorials, but I'm sure someone else would be glad to compile a list. Then I'll go through the effort of making it sticky.

I should write a new CAOS Chaos tutorial, are people still interested in those?

That would be awesome AquaShee! I remember being very disappointed that there weren't more of those, they were very fun to go through.

What kind of stuff should I teach next though? I suppose animations and movement would be fun. Make the cheese walk and all that.

I guess it would be fitting, given that it has legs.

Yeah, but I want to teach CAOS in a way that makes you able to begin learning new stuff yourself.
I think that once I have the basic done, which means a vendor after this, I'll write tutorials explaining concepts instead of making a specific kind of object, for advanced readers.

That would definitely be a good idea.
That was what I was hoping to do with the "metamorphosing toy tutorial", although I don't think many people realized that...

Oh, I'm gonna be pretty clear about that.
I'll be like, "Hey, if you don't know how to make an object to use the following stuff in go read my other tutorials!" and then I'll be like "Listen up, here's how I solve the following problem!" and then I'll be like showing them how an agent can check for walls, for example. And then everyone will be like "Ooh, I get it!" except the people who didn't heed my first warning. They're like "Huh, what? It doesn't work!" except without the grammar and spelling.

Exactly.

I'm glad that I'm such a good writer.
But yeah, a critter and vendor are all that's really missing from the basics.
Except maybe a vehicle and a compound object, hmm.
I should dissect some of my old agents and make tutorials out of their .cos files, I'm sure many of you would just explode if I did that.
