Suggestions for TPV3!

I'm currently in the process of doing TP version 3, and several people have made noises about wanting things in the room - so, are there any suggestions out there? A new critter, plant, toy or whatever? I'll do my best to try to incorporate them into the room.

For those wondering, there is a SAM of sorts in TP but it is rather broken. I'm not really sure if I can be bothered fixing it; it basically just allowed you to control the rain (to an extent), and change some graphics here and there. If there is a general consensus that you'd like me to fix this minor SAM, I'd be happy to do it, but I won't do it unless people are actually interested in it.

All bugs will be fixed in TPV3, I've currently nailed all of them but 3; 1 of which I don't know what causes it so I can't fix it, and 2 which I think I know why it happens but I can't fix/don't know how to fix.

Also: What sort of interest is there in a second level of 'hanging gardens'? Several people have commented that the bottom is quite crowded with plants, critters and various other objects, and my solution would be to add hanging gardens... however, this requires a LOT of work so I'm only doing it if people are actually interested, as with the SAM.

And, of course, I'm willing to accomodate critter and plant suggestions... Or anything else you can come up with, depending on the complexity! I'm willing to spend another 10 hours or so on it, so depending on what I can get done in that time...

A big thankyou to my current betas Clohse, Grendel Man, Nintendo_6444, Fluff, and everyone else who has sent in suggestions and bugs!! Especially big thanks to Clohse for allowing me to use the Frogs in Terra Pluvialis. Which means there are currently 2 new critters done; the Frogs, and the Banna bugs (well... the Bannas work, but they're quite simple because I'm lazy. XD)

TP? What's that? Yes, I know, I'm ignorant. If it's a jungle metaroom, maybe it would be cool to have mini panthers for norns to cuddle!

It's a tropical rainforest (it rains almost constantly) so panthers wouldn't really fit in very well... :P

Hmm...

The SAM things sounds cool!

How about this:

When you click on a certain part of the backround, the leaves part to show a hole. You put the norn in frount of the hole, and the hole sucks the norn up. You find a helicopter similar to the sun one in C2. The norn gets in the helicopter....

As for Animals:

A venus flytrap that can walk, or an orangataing.

I would definitely be interested in a hanging garden. :D

I was going to suggest a few more critters, but it sounds like you'll have that area covered, so would it be possible to see another forest/jungle-themed toy in the room? Maybe a pile of shrunken ettin heads or a wooden blow dart gun?

You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. If that leads to somewhere unexpected then perhaps you really needed to go there.

Those sound awsome!:D
How bout a kiwibird?
or a tree classified as a critter that could move like an Ent from LOTR!
(O.k, maby not that one.)
For toys...

a climbing rope that norns could swing on!:D

Are those good ones?

The SAM won't be expanded, I'll just fix the existing SAM and maybe add in one or two little things. Doing a proper SAM would be too much effort, and I really don't want to crowd TP with unecessary objects.

A walking venus flytrap isn't really what I had in mind; the Pitcher Plants are quite like those anyway. An orangutang while looking cool would have nowhere to go; Orangutangs are huge, and it simply wouldn't fit.

How I would code it climbing things and doing the graphics would be really quite hard, too... XD

Officer: Ooooh, those are great ideas... I'll talk to Moe about getting shrunken ettin heads, and I'll see what I can do with a dart gun. :D

A Kiwi bird is a good idea, I'll look into that one... a climbing rope that norns could swing on... hmm. I dunno how that would work. Maybe a vehicle or something. I'll look into it. :)

Or, poision dart frogs, sort of like the c2 frogs, but smaller and black and yellow. or maby a parot that copys what your norn says or make your norns say funny stuff.
Ive got a billion ideas.;)

Plants: Berry Vine (with berrys your norns and the tocan can eat)

Animals: Tocan, that eats berrys.

Hmm....I might be able to help you sprite this, Liam. How about a flying gecko? *gets to work*

ps. I haven't played Monster Raannnrrrnnchhdoggy

I'm not really looking for any more flying critters (though the flying gecko sounds cool ES- I have to warn you though, I might remodel it after you've done it because I'm anally retentive XD) and there's already a berry bush, so I don't really see a need for any more berry plants.

The poison dart frogs are a good idea; keep them coming! I'll choose my favourite ones from the lot.

I'm planning to model another 2 critters and some plants, depending on what people come up with - and of course maybe a toy or two. But, as I said, I'm only really willing to spend another 10 hours on it so we'll see how it goes. People are absolutely welcome to donate images or anything, it makes my job a lot easier! Just try to keep it in the TP style. :)

EDIT: Since I got bored and modelled a basic Kiwi bird, there will be kiwi birds in TP. :) So I'll model one more critter... any more suggestions before I decide?

LOL... I just had to show you this; this is one of preliminary tests to see how I could make them slightly furry... I think I went a bit overboard. ;P

Im so happy somone like my idea!:D

Eeek, it's a kiwi pom-pom!

This page has a recording of a kiwi's call, for those who want to know what they sound like. Kiwi are nocturnal, so is it possible for them to be active at night and hide during the day?

If you still need another critter, how about an Agouti-like animal?

I know - what I'm doing to do with the Kiwis is give them an underground burrow, and they'll come out during the night. :) I'm going to do my best to recreate them as realistically as possible (but unfortunately I can't have them making nests, as then they might create nests where there's no ground for them to burrow in... :(

The Agouti looks awesome, but there are already enough ground critters I think - we have the Roachy thing, the blue mammally thing, the Kiwi bird, and the Prate.

I don't want to overcrowd the ground! ;)

Are there any flying critter ideas that I could do?

Like a Draco Lizard, or perhaps some kind of bat?

Hah, I was just watching Prehistoric Park. It would be fun to have a Microraptor, but that would probably be very hard to model.

The baby kiwis will look somewhat like that. The painful thing is it takes 14 minutes to render, so... :P *twitchtwitch* Ah well.

I can probably reduce detail and render at 5 minutes or so, but thats still an aggravating render tiime XD

and THANKYOU :D

Shadowveil: Oooh, I'd be so tempted to do something similar to the Microraptor, but I just don't think there's enough space - I'll get to coding some of the ground critters tonight, and hopefully a full update for the testers to play with. :)

Regarding the vine thingy,

Why dont you make it like a leftright/ horizontal elevator that is a vine with a basket in it that the norns sit in.:\

would that work?

( could test the kiwis, will it work on DS standalone?)

It's not natural; I'm trying to go for the most 'natural' objects and stuff as I can - things such as hanging gardens are explained in the story, but thats about it. I'm not really willing to add anything which is 'unnatural'. We'll see how I do a lift, I'm not entirely sure yet, lol.

Thanks for the offer but I don't need any more testers, I have plenty already. :)
