General Forum Create A Creature    daz      6/13/2008 Welcome to the Create A Creature contest! The idea of this contest is to design a new creature species. Not a new breed of a norn, ettin, or grendel, but something completely new. What is a geat? What existed in Albia millions of years ago, or what will the Shee create in the future? Restrictions and Rules: 1) Design: The only restrictions and guidelines you should follow in your design are the ones used for designing the official creatures: here. Try to meet the criteria of section three, the technical considerations. You can ignore one or two if you want, but think along these lines: would it still work if I put it in the gene splicer with a norn? 2) Entries: You may enter two designs, posted in the art gallery. Please state clearly that the pictures are for the contest so that they aren't missed when it's time to judge. Try to draw your creatures to the proportions they would appear in game! Colour isn't needed, but it will be useful if your design wins (see prizes!). 3) Deadlines: The contest will be open for a month, or until 16 entries have been posted, whichever comes first. 4) Judging: When the deadline is reached, I will make a post with all the pictures in it. Anyone who wants to is then free to post their top three favourites (people are not allowed to vote for themselves), and the winner will be the one with most votes. 5) Prizes! First, second, and third will receive trophies featuring their winning design, and 1st place will also get a custom computer art of their creature! Here are a few examples of the sort of thing you could make. If i've missed anything please let me know, and have fun! I'm not much of an artist (unless it's for webdesign) but good luck to everyone who submits an entry! - Rascii   daz   6/13/2008 ^^ entries are to be judged on quality of design, not skill of artist. you don't have to make a fantastic piece to enter, just design a cute creature! or slimey, lumpy, ugly, smelly, spikey, whatever you want.   river_mnemosyne   6/13/2008 Ooh, this sounds like fun! o:   Dreamnorn   6/13/2008 *clears throat* I would like to enter a design I made a long time ago: the Windwalker Norns! These Norns are partially canine, feline, and Eastern Dragon based, who can literally prowl on air currents. They have light purple fur, sky blue highlights (to make themselves seem smaller), and a gemstone on their foreheads. Other features include: Super Sniffers: If they were a Norn, they could smell critters, home scent, and other creatures from far away. Excellent Ears: They can hear much better than the average Norn. Exquisite Eyes: They can see things from farther away. I'm drawing some concept images right now of Windwalker Norns. I'll post them in the Fan Art gallery when I'm finished. ^_^   KC11     6/13/2008 I've drawn up a breed. I don't have a name for them yet. Is it alright if I put them on my deviantart and posted the link here instead? The image is too large to fit in the forums, and I don't want to squish it. Do not upset the ugly worm, lest it be a dragon in disguise. I've also made another breed, a little more dragony and less canine, which are the archenemies of Windwalkers. I haven't given them a name yet, though, but I'm thinking of calling them Skystalker Norns.   Wup   6/24/2008 Ooh, this will be fun! I'll go draw mine! ps.
