For those who are waiting for me to answer their questions, firstly, I'm sorry for the wait, and secondly, I'm going to have to ask you to wait a bit longer - I have a lot of things going on in my life at the moment, so admittedly, "Ask Laura" isn't taking priority.
Rest assured I will get back into the swing of it when life finally lets up.
Thanks for being so patient, and remember, you can always read the archive while you wait! |

UPDATE: Because I had some spare time I thought I'd update Ask Laura for you all. I'm sorry it took me so long. I've only answered a handful of questions, at random, but I plan to try and answer a few every couple of days or so in order to conquer the backlog - starting since late February.
I hope the update is to your satisfaction, there are many funny questions still waiting to be answered and I'm looking forward to tackling them. Thanks for being so patient (again).
If you want to, feel free to post any feedback here, if you have any. Laura loves comments! |

I have a small request, guys:
Currently there's a backlog of 19 questions that I still need to answer, but new ones are being submitted faster than I can reply to them all. I'd be grateful if you could all give me more time to answer the existing questions before submitting new ones. I'm feeling a bit snowed under with it all.
Thanks and I hope you carry on enjoying the column.

Yes, please be gentle on poor Laura, 'cause if you don't her friends have to "help out!"
Actually... I don't mind, but whatever. XD |

Thanks for all the nice comments. I'm very happy to report that
The column is up-to-date and complete!
It's great to see "Ask Laura (0 New)" again, and it only took 5 days... You can all knock yourself out asking questions now - only 37 more questions to go until we hit the 1000th question milestone! I'm off to go get a celebratory cup of tea.
Edit: I'm going to lock this because I think it's served it's purpose now. |

Back again, this time with a new notice:
Due to the overwhelming popularity of the column these past few days, I may not be able to answer *every* question that's sent to me, should it continue to be this popular (e.g. 11 new questions per day anyone)?
As much as I love reading and answering your questions, it might have to come to a point where I can only answer a select few each day - think of it as a lucky dip, or the Lottery. I wouldn't mind if I had the whole day to reply to them all, but I don't and at the moment I cannot keep up. When I can't keep up the questions start mounting up ridiculously, and that's when running the column becomes as much fun as catching the plague. Sadly, I am not a question-answering machine. It would be so much easier if I was!
I hope you guys know that I'm not doing this to be mean... I know I said to you all "knock yourselves out!" but these crazy numbers of questions are starting to knock me out a bit!
Thanks for your co-operation and understanding. |

Laura's too kind to mention she's completely tortured by the enormous mass of goofy questions flowing into her super secret sections of CC.com- like ten questions an hour!! 0_0 She's up way past her bed-time and needs to retreat to the warm nest of her bed to sleep, but I think she fears the site may explode under the magnificent weight of the tsunami of questions! O the horribleness!
...
Yeah. That's all I got. If you could, please think through before submitting your questions. That's not saying you should stop, just make an effort to make 'em good, alright? Quality over quantity- the better the questions, the better the replies, eh? |

Wow, Anduin, I should make you Ask Laura's official spokeswoman!
But yes, I second that too - quality over quantity is a wonderful thing. And no, you shouldn't stop submitting questions completely, that would be sad. I'm actually thrilled that Ask Laura is still being recognised by CC'ers old and new after 4 years, I just never imagined it to ever be this popular. |

"Such is the price of fame" Laura. But yes, I must agree. You have only so much time to spare on any given day. One simply cannot expect you to dedicate every second of your day to answering questions - it is not humanly possible. You do an admirable job answering those that you do. You are not a computer, nor are you an AI with limitless energy at your disposal - you have real life to attend to and must sleep from time to time. (If I seem a little weird today, I blame 8 solid hours of listening to Spock last night)
Back again! Beware! |

I agree with Data. No one can expect you to spend every last second of the day coming up with solutions to those problems. I bet Trish had to go through similar things when she worked at Helen's Bibble Directory.
I'll probably only submit a problem every few days rather than two or three per day, so that should lighten the load.
You do a good job, Laura, and I don't want you to feel overworked.

Ultimately, Laura, you're doing this for fun. No one can legitimately have any expectations of any kind. Do what you want when you want.

Yeah indeed - on reflection I think I've definitely been too hard on myself - my expectations for myself were too high. I guess I just want to keep the people who submit questions happy, but I realise now that I can do that *and* take things a bit easier at the same time.
Doesn't help that I'm a chronic perfectionist either! Each response has to be to my satisfaction otherwise it's no good. I should stop fussing so much... |

Laura, I'm a perfectionist too. I understand how you feel that each answer has to be good to you to be good to the readers...
I think that we should start taking it easy on Laura... it's fun for her to make hilarious responses to the silly dillemas we submit, but we should cool down and submit fewer, better questions (as Anduin stated above).

Atomic Bologna and something about destroying cheeseburgers.

My Brother sent that in, I didn't expect to see it online! XD

Just thought you might like to know that in the past week I've began tackling the backlog of questions and Ask Laura has been updated with questions from:
Cowboy Creature
Holly the Bondi Norn
Light Bulb in Tennessee
Bart the Bird
Hungry Norn
Surprised Norn
Anti-Ettin
Fig
Hardman Green
Norn Speaker
Needacake
I had to put the column on the backburner whilst I was being bombarded with assignments and exams at university, but I'm back for the summer, so there should be some more updates soon.
Hope you enjoy! |

Hi guys!
Ask Laura has had a bit of an update, with some questions from the backlog now responded to!
I only handpicked 7 questions out of 119 (yes, you read that correctly, 119! ) to answer, these are from: 'RJ', 'Christamaria', 'The Hand', 'Scarred for Life', 'Distraught Norn', 'SpringRain' and 'Romeo's Mother'. I hope that they'll be enough to get everyone reading and enjoying Ask Laura once more.
Feel free to start writing your letters to the column again, but please go easy on me (I am quite busy too) and appreciate that I might not have time to respond to everyone.
Thank you, and I hope you all enjoy the update! |
