i was just wondering if anybody else has encountered this one before, I'm noticing a couple mutants that have spontaeously developed bruin heads in my wolfing run world. yet i have never imported a bruin into my game before.
the base genepool was bengals, alphanorns, dodgy norns, santa norns, tadpole norns, draconian norns and my custom sadist norns (which have a chichi/grendel base)
So is this a common thing? is it beacuse bruins are the base norn if there is no appearance data?
I'm up to gen 50-60 and every 10 gens or so i move all of the norna and eggs to the contamination chamber for a mass iq test
I prune out the norns who dont mave colour mutations, or when i get too many with ettin heads. (i export them, so if you want some hearty ettin headed chichi norns just ask, i have hundreds by now)

It's more common than you might think. :3 I had a pure Bengal run that ended up mutating Banshee Grendel Parts, for example.
The reason isn't that Bruins are a base. The reason that it's happening is because the species slot or letter slots in your Creatures' genes are mutating. The reason I tended to get Grendel parts on my Bengals, for example, was because Bengals occupy Norn slot B and Banshees occupy Grendel slot B. It simply changed from Norn to Grendel.

Do you think bruins are really the result of mixed breeding? That may explain it. The creators may have bred that breed through cross mixing. just a theory |

If there is no functional appearance gene for a body part, then it will default to Bruin. But it can also be caused by the letter slot mutating to slot A. Either way, it has nothing to do with any Bruins in your game. |

When you do not have C3, it will default to ChiChi instead of bruin, since that is the lowest available slot.
Also, kezunes bengal/banshee mutation may come from the fact that Bengals are Norn Slot B, while Banshees are Grendel Slot B. A mutation like that can easily happen.

I sometimes like to edit the genetics of my starting Norns/Ettins/Grendels so that their appearance genes are fixed. No mutating, getting deleted, or being duplicated! Although it is fun to have the Bruin head issue pop up and other random breeds show up, I prefer to have some of my worlds populated by Creatures whom I know will always stay true to whatever breeds I start with.
