This is a more personal topic about how the Creatures Community has affected your life. I'll share my story first, hopefully without being too rambly.
All my life I've played video games and liked to make simple art but had never really made a connection between the two. I made fan art of video games I liked but it was always with pencil and crayons or something. Once I got into the Creatures games and began being involved in the Community I began making art for games in the form of breeds and by using digital art programs (mainly GIMP and MSPaint).
One day I was in JRChat and two people started talking about tablets, as in a drawing tablet. I was very confused and asked them what it was, so after they explained to me what it was, I realized I could put together my love of technology and games and my interests in art. In 2007 I got my first tablet (a Wacom Bamboo Fun - I still use it) and began to learn to make digital paintings. I've always loved drawing but digital art, especially digital painting, is one of my very favorite media and is, to me, one of the coolest ways to make art.
I believe that I would probably not have found quite the passion I have now for art if I had not been part of the Creatures Community several years ago.
The cool part of all this, besides the obvious fate of becoming a digital artist as a result of Creatures, is that this fall I will be attending a large media arts school for game design with a game art concentration.
Besides all this, I've found that I love making up species and backstories along with culture and language, also partly because I played Creatures and am part of this awesome, creative community. So this is also a thank-you to the Community because I would likely be on a very different path in my career and interests had it not been for Creatures. ![[heart] [heart]](/images/smilies/heart.gif)
So what about the rest of you? How has Creatures or the community affected your life? |
