From the official forums rules preview:
"Advertisement (spam, etc.) is forbidden. You can post a link of your clan of your personal website in your profile or in your signature."
So I'm assuming that 'Clans' are the social networking aspects of the game...
To my mind, it conjures up having to always integrate your breeding with your fellow clanspeople, to keep related to their norns?

When I saw that it struck me as being something generic copy-pasted in, as many games have clans. Is there any indication otherwise? I only skimmed it.

It might not be a social networking thing at all. It could be the name they picked for a group of norns, like a gaggle of geese and or a heard of buffalo. So saying you can link to your clan might mean you can link to your C4 norn statistics page or something. |

I agree with mfb. I guess it is a generic copy-pasted message.
Some clans cover a bunch of games at once and when you decide to take up C4 into that list of games, some people might be interested in your clan. Something like that.

It could be a typo... There are numerous ones present in the list of forum rules.
"You message may seem aggressive." "When you create a new topic, check that you are is the right forum."
With a little more digging, the board administrator has an e-mail address at games-fed.com. This is a communications/media relations company focused on video games, although there are several typos/grammar mistakes on their site. It could just be issues that are lost in translation, though: They appear to be a French company.
Still kind of surprising that this part of the site is viewable by the public when it's not yet completed. I just hope the entire site is being finished offline or in a testing environment.

I think the fact that there weren't any visible links to those parts of the site speaks for itself. It's odd that it isn't actually locked--if it were my site, you can be sure I'd have set up a .htaccess file to keep Creatures players from nosing around prematurely. Maybe their work setup makes that difficult to accomplish, eg. if they have some people who work from home, others in the office...
I haven't registered in their forum yet because it isn't really polite when somebody is still trying to keep their site under wraps. Hopefully they'll finish it up and open it for us sometime soon.

PS: Is it just my sense of humor, or have they really missed out on an amazing pun-opportunity by not calling it "Creatures Fourum"?

To be quite honest, about the site, I'm not quite sure this is the best way to go about finding news on C4. Yes, I know we are all eagerly anticipating it but, there's a reason why there's not been much news.
Usually, companies such as Big Ben and Fishing Cactus have fine print in the contract that gives Big Ben and such the right to determine when news can be put up.
Also, companies tend to have a very large dislike of showing things that are not presentable or aren't complete in some fashion. For example, the C4 site. It's quite clearly unfinished and thus, to the eyes of Big Ben and co, not presentable.
So basically, what I'm trying to say is, we should just sit tight and wait until Big Ben allows more tidbits to be told to us. |

Seconded. Fishing Cactus has shown that they're pretty amiable folks, but posting about it everywhere is a bit... inconsiderate?

Perhaps we can get back to the topic at hand. Also, I think any further discussion about the C4 website is better suited to this topic for now.
I would really enjoy the 'clans' referring to some sort of social networking feature. Even though I doubt that's what it really entails, swapping, sharing and interacting with each others Norn clans in real time would be great fun! |

It sounds like an interesting concept. I'm up for trying it out before really commenting on it

I still think it refers to a group of norns, rather than a group of players. I just can't see why they would name a group of players a "clan" unless there's some kind of open world type area they have cooking up. |

I have to agree with MFB that it just seems like a standard "rule set" they probably borrowed from a package or something... because I know other communities do have clans of players, even if Creatures doesn't currently.
I've seen fiction archives with wildly irrelevant guidelines for the same reason. I remember having to go in and figure out how to edit the rules for one site because the owner had finally realized that it contradicted their "house rules".
