For more information, please check here.
The world has been made, all the agents have been injected...all systems are go!
The Norn Egg Layer creates 12 eggs....

These 4 eggs are comfortably nestled by the Crypt. The spirits of their ancestors are hopefully watching over them....

Well, this egg certainly had a bit of a headstart. Then again, given the lack of food in that area, the sooner you grow up the better.

One more lonely egg sits by the Learning Room door. Apparently, whatever put it there had trouble opening said door.

The creatures in these eggs favor a high-rise life by the looks of things.

An egg in the garden is worth two in the bush...or so they say. Wait, is that right?

The heat and barren nature of the desert didn't bother this egg at all. At least there's a reliable food source nearby (although it won't help cool it down in these climes).

Soothing waters might help to calm this soul. There's no food in the immediate vicinity, but at least it won't be bored.
For now, all is calm...but the question is how long it's going to stay that way.

Awww... I can't wait to see these eggs hatch.
I've chosen the desert because Magmas will survive there better.

Maybe putting Twigs in the Learning Room would've been a better idea than putting him by the incubator. Oh well, he might be okay!

I guess the word "treehouse" means different things to different people.
As it turned out, I made a little mistake when it came to placing the eggs...
Day 1: Part 1

Zorah, Lucy, and Selene all are busy enjoying themselves in the Crypt area. Well, except maybe Selene. It looks like she poked something better off untouched.
And this is where I gooned up. Lucy was supposed to go in the treehouse, but I lost track of which egg was which and switched her egg and Flojo's.

Turns out, Fishskin is also by the Crypt - she just favors a little solitude. Or maybe she's trying to hide behind all that Popping Pappus. Who knows?

Young Prometheus discovers the joys of carpet-bombing.

Twigs is smart enough to figure out cheese is edible despite his species' preference for the natural. I wonder if he knows how to activate that button there...?

Cosmo, apparently, has already decided that he wants to be a skydiver someday - he's already practicing, falling from his treetop starting place. It would probably help to invest in a parachute first, though.
Meanwhile, Chanua is enjoying the sweet fruits that fall from the tree above.

Flojo and Magnesium don't share Cosmo's bravery and enthusiasm. They're still both in the Treehouse.

Brann is either trying to activate the button, or is going after those delicious chili peppers. Hard to tell with the button in the way of her face.

Deskman prepares to enjoy his first experience with bouncing balls.
With all the norns hatched, something in the Jungle begins to stir.... Not all was well after all.

Day 1: Part 2

Actually, Flojo has shown a mild interest in skydiving as well. He has joined his comrade Cosmo on the second level.

Brann posing by a wonder of nature. Hopefully, it doesn't blow up by the time she decides to go elsewhere.

Deskman, having chased the ball out of range, goes to attempt to play the didgeridoo.

Prometheus seems to have gotten a bit of a spook, while the cuddly tree looks quite satisfied. Meanwhile, Cosmo decides to reap the benefits of fresh apples.

Magnesium found the Medical Teleporter to be an interesting plaything, and is now marching back to the Norn Terrarium for food.

Deskman, in desperate need of sustenance, has headed for the Jungle Terrarium - where he seems to have gotten himself into a bit of a pickle.
"Grendel? What grendel? I don't see any flipping grendels!"

Brann has also decided to face the dangers of the jungle...but she feels safe enough to take a nap.

The foursome of Fishskin, Selene, Prometheus, and Lucy continue to enjoy themselves by the crypt. They seem to be getting a little crowded.

Zorah is looking rather frustrated, while Twigs forlornly carries around the toy radio. How heavy is that thing, anyway?

To answer C-Rex's question: No, I don't leave it on overnight, seeing as I need to check on everyone's norns and keep regular updates. I have a personal wolfling run that has the goal of reaching gen. 1000 that I leave on instead.
Day 1: Part 3

The jungle is becoming surprisingly popular, despite the threat of the grendels running around.

The crypt area is even more popular, apparently. Fishskin and Lucy have yet to leave it.

Resident treehugger Twigs has proven to be more resourceful than most of his race - he has figured out how to work the elevator. He still crowds just as easily as the rest of them, though.

Magnesium, I really hope you know what you're doing.

Brann missed the elevator as it was called up by someone else - it seems she needs to work on her timing.

Isn't that cute? Deskman and Chanua seem to be in the process of becoming friends.

Aggie the grendel seems to be cheerful despite being surrounded by things she would normally loath.

Around this time, the hardman pair made their way into the jungle, ready to show the grendels who's boss. Unfortunately, they didn't kill this one before she laid an egg.

Zorah made up for that by promptly attacking the resulting baby. Go go go!

Fishskin and Lucy still haven't left the Crypt area. Both the Astros seem to have moved there as well.
The day ends on a tragic note....

Deskman becomes the first norn to die, falling at the hands of an angry male grendel. Whatever plans he and Chanua had are never going to come to fruition, sadly. May he rest in peace.
To make the death insulting to the norns, the grendels have produced another egg. Are they going to prove themselves the dominant species on this ark?

That's the macro bacteria. It is two parts, a detritus cage to be eaten, and bacteria that attach to a creature, injecting chemicals into it. It is from the toxic pack, it is great for toxic norns but sometimes I use it to kill ettins if I'm bored of CAOS |

Silvak: Everybody except Flojo is adolescent now. The grendels are ranging from baby to adult.
Day 2: Part 1

Another grendel brings about the death of Magnesium. I can safely say that it wasn't the male prancing over his corpse - it was probably one of the girls. In any event, the norns have suffered yet another loss.

Brann and Chanua play it safe by hanging out near the jungle door - although Brann has gotten spooked about one thing or the other.

The hardmen boldly engage the grendel horde in combat, ready to avenge the deaths of Deskman and Magnesium.

In other news, Twigs is now an adolescent. Let's hope he doesn't drown himself trying to get to the fish in the pond.

The hardmen continue the battle, but unfortunately they seem to be on the losing side. Fortunately the grendels seem to lose interest before they can finish the job.

Three guesses as to where everyone else is, and the first two don't count.

Zorah boldly engages the grendel Aggie in one-on-one combat. However, Aggie proves herself a formidable foe and defeats the hardman, raising herself higher in the eyes of her scaly contemporaries.
With Zorah's death, only Prometheus remains to give the grendels any real challenge - but can he survive an onslaught by seven of them?

The final update of the day...
Day 2: Part 2

A bunch of grendels suddenly decide to gang-bang Chanua, and she dies within a few moments.
(Accidentally deleted the picture, so you'll have to take my word for it)
Not to be outdone, the grendel Akisa surprises Brann and slays the norn effortlessly. Grendels 5, Norns 0.

With the deaths of all of his fellows, Prometheus remains the only norn in the Jungle area. Thankfully, he has gone to where the grendels are unwilling to venture.

Meanwhile, in the Norn Terrarium's safety, the other norns continue to...well...be norns. At least they're no longer huddling by the crypt.

What's this? A grendel not in the Jungle Terrarium? What is he up to?

Oh dear, it looks like he was chasing Prometheus, who wisely evaded the grendels by going through the Desert Terrarium.

The grendel manages to get a few hits in, but thankfully Prometheus escaped via elevator before he succumbed. The elevator also seems to have glitched for the grendel....

While this is going on, Cosmo and Selene become attracted to each other and the first norn pregnancy of the run occurs between them.

Prometheus is never one to back down...but all that seems to be happening here is a sleeping contest. Hopefully, the norn wakes up first....

Uh oh.... I don't like the looks of this.

It appears that the grendels are ready to drive the norns out of this ark once and for all, but first they have to fill their bellies.
Is this the end of the norns? Or will they manage to pull through the assault? Tune in tomorrow for Judgment Day!

Silvak: Through some fancy CAOs that goes beyond the scope of this topic. If anyone's interested, though, I could release the grendels used in this run and the modified egg layer after the run concludes, which means you could look at the coding then.
Anyway....
Judgment Day: Part 1
Three days into the run and it might be over for the norns already...let's find out.

To begin on a positive note for once, Lucy and Cosmo have produced not a single pregancy, not a double pregnancy, but a triple pregnancy - this being only the second time I've seen it happen. That might make up for all the deaths the grendels are causing.

Shortly afterwards, Selene pops out her egg, much to Prometheus's resentment.

He doesn't have the time to be angry for long, though, as the grendel Azhar, who came into the Norn Terrarium solely to beat him into oblivion, is on his tail once again.

Lucy begins the laborious process of laying three eggs....

...a process she finishes with only mild discomfort. Oh hey, it looks like Selene's baby is hatching!

Enter Bwana, the first naturally born Norn of the run.

As he goes to get his first meal, though, he stumbles upon a sight most tragic. Twigs sacrifices himself to Azhar so that Prometheus may live to fight another day. A resourceful norn to the bitter end....

Meanwhile, Aggie, the grendel who slew Zorah, is also in the process of invading the Norn Terrarium. This can't end well....

With no one to throw themselves in the way, the fated duel to the death between Prometheus and Azhar begins. Spectators on both sides offer moral support.
A few violent (and epic) moments later....

Azhar deals the final bone-breaking blow to Prometheus, who falls to the ground dead. With both hardmen slain, it appears the norns' fate is sealed.

The three eggs laid by Lucy hatch into the triplets Berholda, Bessy, and Betsi. As well, a previously unannounced baby, Babetta, is born of Fishskin and Cosmo. Man, Cosmo is certainly player, isn't he?
Alas, it is likely all for naught - Aggie and Barentain have the norns surrounded. It's only a matter of time before the slaughter starts....
