Does anyone else have this problem? I can't seem to recall it ever happening "back in the day", but I was always more concerned with development and never really got around to wolfing runs... Is it common?

Yeah, it's a pretty common problem. Try using the CAOS code
on your norn that's having trouble.

I usually "sort them out" because the chance that they add that defect to the main gene-pool ís simply too high...

Papriko's right. I used to help them along, but the thing is you're enabling a Norn that can't breed naturally, to promote its own genetic defects. Fortunately this is the absolute easiest mutation to get rid of--it dies out in just 1 generation.

Is it always a mutation, though? I thought there were diseases that attacked the uterus - could they prevent a norn from giving birth?

It's always a mutation in my game. I don't see diseases very often.

It can be caused through some Antigens, but in the same time they also damage various other organs, so they usually die before you notice eternal pregnancies caused through disease.

That's what I was thinking... no harm in keeping a norn pregnant who can't give birth. I have enough eggs, one less isn't a big deal.

I always help them give birth to the egg and then help everyNorn recover from there. (CAOS is very useful but sometimes it may take a few tries)
I just tend not to let them fall pregnant again and not to let the offspring breed either. I can't stand the idea of some poor little Norn being pregnant forever. Not that it hurts them but when they die, the unborn Norn dies with them. ((And I get curious as to what the Norn in the egg is like and want to hatch it. ))
In one world I did have worker Siamese and the females were all like that. (My Super Siamese as I called them) but they just needed help laying the egg and also couldn't fall pregnant easily so I used the inseminator for that.
