I have a quick question, but it's more of a discussion topic. But if any of you great Managers feel it's in the wrong spot feel free to move it (not that you wouldn't anyway :P)

Anyway, my question. Is it possible for two Norns (male and female) to continue genetic information to cause issues in females always and only? That's all. Thanks!

Males still carry female-specific genes, they just don't express them. So yes, a male could have a gene which would mean half of his daughters are infertile. (Mendel is awesome. :) )

Had that once with the Progesterone emitter... Suddenly the gene produced not longer Progesterone (48 ), but 49!
They could now all use Grendel Man's flying agent, but were all infertile.

That gene got even passed by of male Norns. As Malkin: the half of his daughters had that and were so infertile.

Yes, yes. I know this, but what about mental issues? Is it possible for two norns to carry femal only traits that cause mental issues? Thank you or helping!

(I completely agree, Malkin, Mendel is my hero! ^^)

What kind of 'mental issues' are you experiencing? Perhaps upload one of these girls here or at TCR for us to look at her?

Well, it is apparently Child-of-the-Mind disorder (Thanks goes to Papriko for discovering that). Is it possible that COTM disorder is sex-linked and hereditary?

But you're experiencing it in C3 norns???? :/

Classically, child-of-the-mind was a C1 disease. In C1, COTM could theoretically be hereditary, (hard to tell as most COTM didn't breed) but it wasn't sex-linked.

In C1, COTM was a common mutation of the brain which the brain was susceptible to, much like fastaging is a common mutation of the life genes.

Hmm, I know, that does sound weird. I blame Papriko. Apparently it is a defect in the noun lobe causing it to think only "self". Anyway, it sure seems hereditary, and sex-linked. I'll do more tests and post back later.

Could it be that the brain gene's 'switch-on' has mutated so that only males have the proper brain structure?

That is possible. I actually haven't done any more tests because I was having issues with DS. I'll have to check. Do you want a copy of the female Norns the couple has produced?

CWiki wrote:
This is a Creatures 1 mutation in either the attention lobe or the concept lobe, and it causes the affected creature to spend their whole lives looking at themselves. They can still learn the words from a computer and kiss-pop, but they generally starve to death. There is no cure or relief for this mutation.

Epa sent me one of his Norns. I think the description fits pretty good, although the are DS Norns. The Healthbar said it tried all the time to "drop self". When I said her to eat she thought "eat self". With an extreme strong mental-"attack" via URGE I could get her to take a small lunch, but that worked only once. After that she tried agan various verbs on "self".

URGE worked as I said only once, normal talking didn't help, slapping didn't help, simply nothing made her to think for anything else than "self", so I am quite sure it is a C3/DS version of the COTM-syndrome.
