I recently got sound back on my PC and the music in docking station is very depressing... I loved the PS1 games music. It was jolly and lively. Now its all doom and gloom... |

it's pretty nice except for the hub and death music, are you sure you don't have creatures dying somewhere |

Uh huh. But then again I do listen to very happy J-pop and think that that's not happy. *giggles* |

I think there was anywhere a guide to let the hub use the C3 Norn Terrarium music in case you have C3.
Or do it like me. Turn off music and play something you also like.

It's not that depressing, really--just very, uh, ambient. Although I have heard people describe it as creepy, too. 0.o;
Papriko's right, though: DS does let you turn off the music separately from the other sound effects, so you can play whatever music you want and still hear your Norns.

Isn't it similar to some of the music from c2? Its been a while since I had it, but I seem to remember some areas of c2 Albia sounded like the DS stuff.

the ds music is noway like the c2 music >_< the c2 soundtrack is way more beutifull (take the c2 water theme for an example,or the garden one ^o^ )
the only parts thats from c2 is the death and when a norn is born song, wich is in both c3 and ds..
I did once record the music from c2 once, maybe if i find it i might share it with ya XD
anyhow, the ds music is...quite erm..boring (to me eat least..dosn't spread much the feeling as c2's )
for me, even c3 has way better music XD
maybe there's a way to alter the ds ambient music ^^'
other then that, maybe do as the others might be the easiest option lol :3 |

Yeah, I'm not too much a fan of ambient music myself, but I do like the Creatures Montage. Also, for some reason, even on the lowest sound setting it's still really loud. My computer has its sound somewhere in the mid-range, so it's not that my computer's amplifying it, I think...

I've also noticed that the in-game volume controls don't seem to have a very wide range. The music and sound effects always seem loud to me too, I have to turn the computer volume down to make it quieter.

I know, it's pretty annoying at times, the sound levels doesn't change quickly, barely noticable!
There is barely (If any!) difference between the highest, and lowest (Not muted) volume settings!

The music is mysterious..mmmyyyssstteeerriioouuus. Seriously though. It reminds me of playing a murder mystery in the dark.

I also don't have currently sound in DS, but that's because it seems to ague with my sound driver. It is always much too fast as when the sound would take all the free CPU.
Please no suggestions to fix it here, I'll ask in a Linux-Forum.

My mother says its creepy scary music. I personaly just think it sounds freakishly wierd.

It is rather suspenseful. Kind of... "waiting". I don't think I'd call the music itself "scary" per se, but I'd probably want to listen to something else after reading or watching a scary story/movie, because if you're already creeped out it won't help.

I'm sorry, but you just cannot beat the ol' nostalgic sounds of the C1 music, like the ticking of the kitchen clock. |

Maybe the sad music in DS represents the Downfall of Creatures? |

I dunno, it always sounded plain to me, not creepy. The sounds I don't care for are Muco's stomach growling and the wasps.

DS was the first Creatures game I played, so I have a sort of fondness for the music. If I'm tired, the ambient music in the Norn Meso almost puts me to sleep. xD
But as far as awesomeness goes..yeah. C1 music, FTW! I love it. |

Yeah the death music is pretty sad, but it's really the only "sad" music in Docking Station for me, it's more like it's just there, neither happy nor really sad or creepy. Half the time my Norns are talking so loud I can hardly hear it, lol. |

The docking station music was very good, I loved the sweeping strings. Creatures 3 had great music, but was sad even when nothing was dying. Creatures 1 had the best music, in my opinion. |

If only someone could hack the DS Music to make it sound nicer, but who can edit .mng files?

Gryph/Starscream wrote a guide to replace the DS events music with the ones from C3. You can find it on the CWiki.
