| Those Crazy Sound Effects | |

I was wondering where the Creatures Lab gets those sound effects from. Because some of them, I've heard in other places.
Like in Samurai Jack. (Remember that show? XD) There was this robot spewing oil, and it sounded suspiciously like the those weird noises the Norn Meso egg layer makes.
And the sounds of doors opening and closing, I swear I've heard them in some sci-fi movie.
And in C2, that mini-computer that teaches five basic words. You know the voice of the Shee talking? I was watching 12 Monkeys the other day, and when it hit the DVD menu it played those voices. Not kind sorta sounded alike, it was the EXACT sound clip. (Oddly enough, I don't remember hearing it in the actually movie.)
So, is there some big ... sound effect repository that they get these sounds from? |

I think so. Because I've heard the Shee gibberish somewhere else too.

I've heard the noise the Spikey Plant in the Jungle Terrarium makes when it creates an animal in many places. Also, I've heard a lot of the others in places that I can't think of right now. So there must be.

I think I remember Lisa saying somewhere that CL sold their sounds off to others. Or some of it could have gone with Bob and Barn...

And I imagine they probably used some stock sound effects from various places.

I may have simply missed when Lisa said they sold Creatures sounds, but I don't think any of the sound clips we recognize elsewhere are solely from the game. Most of those sounds, like Pitz' whining and the beeping of various machines, are from collections of stock sounds like Elastic said.
Can't say I've ever heard Shee gibberish outside of the C2 laptop, though. I thought that had been created like the norn/grendel/ettin syllables that were made from scratch. ^_^'
You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. If that leads to somewhere unexpected then perhaps you really needed to go there.

I've heard the Shee sounds in my computer's clip-art, the one that sounds like "Parsh-oo-pa". |

I've heard the sound of the C2 computer, when it changes from one word to another, the noise reminds me of an origional sound effect from "Sonic the Hedgehog" (which Ettinfreak forced me to watch. XP)

when you open/close the inventory or any other slide-out menue in C3/DS, this sound was used in a german sketch I saw. there was a robot and everytime they turned this robot on it sounded like you opened the inventory. same with the closing inventory and the turned off robot...
it sounded really exactly the same...

Why is everyone stealing the sounds! It makes me a little mad! I,ve heard some sounds on the planet funniest animals. |

*bump*
The elevator closing = Tony's board hitting the ground? Sounds about right. The sound the doozers make when they hop is apparently CL employees chanting "hell no, we won't go" played backwards. In my DS sounds folder I found a sound from Super Mario 64!

GeeArr reversed the Doozer's sound and put it on the Creatures Wiki some time ago.

It also plays in Sonic Underground when Sonic skids.

*checks OP* Oh, wow, I didn't even notice before.
But as long as the thread's been bumped, this has been bugging me for a while. I don't know how many people here have played Apollo Justice, but during the Mason System segments...
Actually, it'll be easier if I just show you. Here's video from the Mason System (sorry for the major spoilers; this was the clearest video I could find). I'm referring to those chime-like electronic noises in the background. Am I crazy or are those also in one of the Creatures games? Because they sound really familiar to me and I'm not quite sure why. Or maybe the ambient music is just throwing me off.

Yeah, it sounds like the noise the learning computer makes in C2 when it states a word. It's hard to tell with all the other sound effects, but it does sound like a match.

I found a page somewhere on the official creatures development network site that had an article about the actual way in which they created the sounds. I can't remember where it was, but it was interesting!

Do I have to?
I hate to admit I'm binging on it but Beast Wars and C3DS share so many sound effects it's disorienting |
