I once had a very old cat named buddy. He was even older than me! Anyway, he became deaf, senile, and soon the vet thought it be best to put him to sleep. He was 20 years old.

My condolences again to EvilSpirit and Shine
KC11: That's how my eldest cat, Podge is starting to act now. He's coming up for 15 and he's doing some really worrying things - He's gone bald under his chin, his fur is starting to fall out, (we've been to the vet, it's not mange) he's being sick more frequently, he's started beg a lot at meal times which is something he never used to do, and when you throw him a tidbit, he'll spent ages trying to find it - we have to stick it right under his nose so he can find it and eat it.
Mum thinks he's on the downward slope now, not long left. It's just sad to see it happen. |

Sounds bad. But what Buddy was doing was even more worrying. He was making these weird gurguling sounds, wasn't walking over to his food bowl as much (we had to give him his food on the couch), and was sitting in his food bowl.

LUCKY was a good dog !
Let us all honor him in his passing.
He chased squirrels, but never killed one, he made friends with our cats, and was really good with children.
He was put to sleep a little before three this afternoon.
I cried......

I know exactly how it feels to lose a cherished pet.
I used to have an African Plated Lizard named Plato, who was the sweetest a lizard could possibly get. He loved attention, and would eat right out of your hand. He had never bitten anyone in his entire life. He would sit on your shoulder and you could walk around the house with him like that, and he never made a move to jump.
It was hard losing him, especially due to the fact that we had to watch him die. I cried about it for a week.

I have a baby kitten named Rascal. I had only cats. These are my deceaced pets: Xena lived to be nine and she died from ticks. Fuzzer(Roo because of his big kangaroo feet) lived to be 16 and died of old age.Ginger lived to be 13 and died of old age. Meatball ran away. Bucky's immune system was destroyed and he had no hope so we had him put to sleep.
*Cries for all her dead pets*

Aww it's okay- I've lived through worse. Can you imagine your own parents killing your pets? Or watching rabbits being eaten alive while screaming for 3 minutes? .. Or watching 200 rats all die at once? I think I've topped it.

I've got to endure that one day - when our chickens eventually stop laying, my Dad plans to cull them (chop their heads off) for us to eat them. I don't think I'd be able to eat something I've known. It doesn't help that my Mum gave them names either! |

This thread is depressing!
Well since we're talking about petdeath, I had two rats both of whom had rather... tragic ends. One rat, Ophelia, developed a cancer - a huge mammary tumor on the underside of her neck. It was rock-solid and grew to twice the size of her head (!!) in about seven-eight weeks. I had to put her to sleep, and it was immensely difficult, since this was my first euthanized pet. The only thing is, I wish that I'd put her to sleep sooner and not let the tumor get so enourmous, but i didn't really have the chance since I was in college and only came home to see her on weekends, so its like every week i saw her so muchtime would pass that the tumor would get visibly worse. She was still eating and still affectionate, but her life was depressing, she could hardly get around, and her cagemate often fought with her and made her life miserable. So yeah, poor Ophelia. Lived a year and change.
My other rat Tinuviel... died from myco. That's a bacteria that lives in rat lungs and doesn't bother them until something lowers their immune system. Then all of a sudden it comes out and kills the rat. Tuvie's myco started when I gave her a bath one day and she got water in her lungs. A few days later she started making clicking noises when she breathed. Then it got worse and worse until she died in my arms about a two months later.
As for pets that are still alive... I've got two amazingly gorgeous cats, Tim and Anton. Tim is nine now, Anton is one, and they hate each other's guts. All day long I hear hissing and growling. Cause Anton needs to learn to respect Tim's privacy. They are both solid blue in colour, Tim is a semilonghair Siberian mix, and Anton is a shelterkitten.
And I've got probably close to fifty fish among two fishtanks. And some more guppies in another tank.
Yes, I'm the forum ... Any questions?

I have had several frogs whom have passed away. The longest living one was a frog whose name I cannot remember. He lived for about two 1/2 years, then died suddenly. I was really upset. He was buried under a large light up frog we got a long time ago.

Oh my gerbils... i had two sister gerbils, a cream-coloured named Penny and a lilac-coloured named Nickie. They lived to be two years old. Penny died suddenly like three days before I came home from a vacation... or so i'm told. Nickie... was insane and chewed off all her toes on one of her hind legs. Died of... old age and i guess the infected wound that she made herself.
But this was a long time ago.

Good news!
Morgana's feeling a lot better and she is much more energetic.
Blackbeard no longer has to play the role of blanket (he used to lay down on top of her when she was basking to share body heat), nor does he have to sacrifice his meal for her.

Awmanman, for a seamonkey to hatch the water must be warmer that 75 degrees to hatch at all. It takes a bit of time.
