Hey 1BDI if you want more war-on-d'hurgs fun, look up Joe Arpaio.
I live in Maricopa county.
Oh, I know exactly who you're talking about. Nevertheless: obligatory
(More) on-topic: billboards are apparently outlawed in Hawaii.
...Actually, I kind of wish that law was country-wide.
You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. If that leads to somewhere unexpected then perhaps you really needed to go there.

.. during a hurricane you have a lot more to worry about than flying billboards man.
Hawaii bans them largely because it's a tourist destination. |

In many parts of Florida, fireworks can only be used for "agricultural purposes" such as scare crows away from crops. This is only technical, though, because most people set them off for holidays anyway.

Say it's part of your religion. You must set off these fire crackers on holidays or else the sun won't rise in the morning. (Like the ancient Mayans )

We actually went to buy fire works from a company in Florida, and they made my dad sign a form stating that we were only going to use them for agricultural purposes, but everyone knows that you just go home and set them off for Independence Day or New Years or whatever the current celebration is. I mean, the police were there making people signing the forms knowing full well what was going to happen. I think that it is one of those laws that would be easier to turn a blind eye to than to actually get it revoked. *shrugs*

Okay, it is offtopic because it has nothing to do with fireworks XD, but I still wanted to say it:
In Germany a car is like your house. You may not drink alcohol, smoke or use a mobile phone when it moves, but except that you may do everything you may do at home.
That means you are also allowed to drive naked. I don't know why someone really wants to do that, but you are allowed to.
the joke is: you may sit naked in it, but you may NOT leave it naked! Before leaving you first have to wear something XD
Also quite unnormal for a law I think.

Euwh, Papriko. *note to self: avoid nudist regions of Germany*
Oh, I have another car one! If you are on your Learner's Permit and you drive your dad (supervisor) up to the shops to get something, you are not allowed to drive off without your supervisor - so that means no key in the ignition (no radio, no air, no windows), no seatbelt, no hands on the steering wheels and no hands on the pedals - avoid looking like you're driving. Apparently drunk people have been nicked in their cars for having the key in the ignition for the heater. "driving under the influence".

Another one: You may say your opinion, criticize public people like politicans and even use swears, but you may not directly insult the person self. Here a CC.com related example:
"I think Rascii is a horrible PHP and HTTP coder and this site is a bunch of crap"
is ok, but
"Rascii self is a bunch of crap" would result in a
judicial proceeding.
Not evil meant, just wanted to give an example. Rascii, you and your site are super

Papriko, there is free speech in the USA, but,
YOU MAY NOT CAUSE A PANIC.
It is against the law to cause a panic, by using speech, if you shout 'fire' and there isn't one, then, you can get sued.
Also, freedom of speech and intepretation, is limited, if the speech causes a panic or major conflict, such as burning a flag, or doing something along those lines, which excercises one's right, but, it can cause a panic or a fight.

I thought burning a flag was the proper and honourable method of disposal of a flag that had touched the ground?
My TCR Norns |

LoverIan

It means in a different way, say, the flag has never touched the ground, and is not supposed to be disposed yet.
Like burning it, when nothing has happened, in such a way that is supposed to be speech that declares something, like it has a meaning. Say someone is burning it because they're disgusted, or it's a non-violent protest.
It's illegal to let a flag touch the ground, to let it get dirty, etc.
Also, in kindergarten, a kid told me that touching the flag makes god hate you. He thought it was true, so, to disprove it, I touched it, it was a flag you see hanging on the walls of a classroom.
Also, yes, that is a proper, and right way to dispose of the flag, usually, and commonly seen done so by the military.

If god hated me, that would mean that god would have had a pre-existing hate. Also, I believe his belief in that, is just over patriotic behavior, or using scare tactics. Like, "You go to hell if you don't believe in (Insert religion)". It is used, just to force somebody into a belief. Like if a person had something that is extremely deadly, say a shotgun, held to your forehead, and they'll shoot you if you don't (Insert random thing, such as forcing you to believe something, or do something). Sadly, people often will do what the person says, because there isn't a much better choice often. With religion, pretty much each, and every religion threatens if you don't do what they say, (Insert 'punishment'), so, I guess it wouldn't matter what you do, because, it's likely that everyone, is wrong in their own way.
Otherwise known commonly as, 'soul food', which, does often cause health problems.

Well, it can be considered scar tactics, but it is more of terrorism.
I was in class today, and we were discussing terrorism, the teacher put it on the projector (definition).
I said "So, most religions, can often, in some way, be defined as, terrorism?".
He replied, correct, it's often religion or politics that causes terrorism.
If you're about to say he is wrong, he has stated many times, that he took college classes on criminal justice. He even took classes on terrorism, even one about what it is, and how to stop it. So, he knows what it is.
Now, even if it is what they believe, that doesn't make it right, or ok. People will make threats to others to believe in their religion, or in politics, so that they'll be voted for.
Scare tactics is not only a fallacy, but is a similar form of terrorism. When scare tactics are a fallacy, they can be known as "Appeal to force".
"Occurs when we use or threaten force- whether it be physical, psychological, or legal- in an attempt to get the person to back down on a position and accept our conclusion as correct" -Definition of Scare Tactics, also found/quoted from a powerpoint that was printed out, which, the definition was quoted from 'Think' a text book, page 141.
Terrorism: Noun, the unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating, or coercing societies or goverments, often for ideological or political reasons.
That was the definition of terrorism we copied from the projector in class today.
If you compare the two, you will notice striking similarities.
If you look closely, you may notice how I can say that religions often use scare tactics/terrorism.
Also, note how religions have changed/evolved, and notice how they can be manipulated for personal gain, when used/changed by an individual.
That ^ shows how most any/all religions can be considered/labeled, 'use of scare tactics/terrorism'.
I'm not saying that is how all religions are. I know that people have their beliefs, I respect that, but, I will criticize things from religions, sometimes. It doesn't mean that I am saying that people shouldn't believe in the religion they believe in.
Okay, I am now getting back on topic.

Yep, it musn't! Anyways, here is a strange law, that makes perfect sense, but is sad, and unnesecary.
In California, ferrets are illegal.
If you enter California with a ferret, they'll take it away, and instead of sending it to relatives of your's or something, or doing something else, THEY KILL IT, after taking it out of vision of course.
The reason, ferrets are a predatory rodent, and are not native to California. If a ferret escapes or is introduced into a certain area, they can take complete control, and will over populate. They'll cause considerable damage to the ecosystem, and etc.
But NO, they couldn't have just told the people that they're not getting in, or they couldn't have just taken them to a certain place that holds the animal till it is retrieved by the owner when they're done in California.
SO, that is why I am deciding to never make a permanent home in California, because I love ferrets, and hope to have one, one day.
