Alpacas, they are, like Emus(/other flightless, huge birds) are to Ostriches, are extremely similar to llamas. Alpacas are to llamas as Emus are to Ostriches. In other words, the two animals are extremely similar and there is often little difference. Alpacas and Llamas are similar to Donkeys, actually. They can be quite ornery and stubborn, and sometimes have poor dispositions. Alpacas and Llamas are both large, furry mammals, they both often have been said to spit a large amount, and they both have been known to be herded animals, much like sheep were, and currently are. Both the Alpaca's and Llama's fur can be used to make clothing, or for other purposes. Like the Yak, Ox, and similar animals, Alpacas and Llamas have been known to be high altitude (mountain) animals, and can be ridden in mountains if needed. Alpacas, to my knowledge, like Llamas, most commonly, can be found/live/reside in, certain parts of south america. That should help right? beep |

I've never really been curious about this - if you ever see more than one, I imagine you'd be too concerned about scaring them to worry about the proper pluralisation. For what it's worth, Sydney's Taronga Zoo implies that the plural of platypus is platypus. My TCR Norns |
