It snowed really heavily last night where I live (on the south coast of England), so I'm stuck at home because it's too dangerous to go out or drive anywhere... Bit annoying really.
Do you guys like snow days? |

It's nice to walk around in especially if there a small woods neaby, it's nighttime and there's a modest layer of snow.
Other than that, it makes wanting to get out of bed a nightmare, I usually just "hibernate" through it all. Brrr! |

I'd never even seen snow until I was fifteen... one of my school friends went up to The Snow, and she brought a handful back home in an esky. I was very impressed it lasted the trip.

Wow, Malkin, how did the handful of snow last that long?
Zesvotzashni, I felt like hibernating this morning too!
I got stranded in it last night. My work let those who had to travel a distance home go early, because it was snowing really heavily. I'm telling ya, the town where I work looked like it had been replaced with a scene out of 'Ice Age'! I went to drive out of the car park, and drove barely 10ft (I was driving dead slow too) before my car skidded and nearly collided with a parked car!
Cue me phoning my parents and them coming to rescue me with their car.
A day of films and hot chocolate for me, I think! |

It sounds beautiful but dangerous. I've never experienced snow like that before so I would love to just to see what it's like. Hot chocolate and movies don't sound too bad at all. Add some Creatures games and a nice snuggly cat on your lap and it sounds even better. At least, that's what I think. How long does the snow last for?

That sounds like a good plan, SpringRain, that's exactly what I'm doing - I'm having a pajama day, watching films and playing on the computer. There's nothing else to do.
We're not sure how long the snow will last for, but at the moment it's showing no sign of stopping, and is just getting heavier and heavier. Apparently, it's the worst cold snap the UK has had in ages. Thousands of schools have been closed today, and travel has been hugely disrupted.
I took a photo on my phone to share with everyone. As annoying as not being able to go out is, it all looks very pretty:

It's been snowing a lot where I live too Laura, and I've had to stay off school for two days. The snow's really deep too, it's halfway up to my knees! |

C-Rex: It's not that deep where I am, though maybe that's because I live 5 mins away from the sea. It's still pretty treacherous and icy to go out in though.
Jacob: Is it unusual for it to snow in Cardiff then? |

Here is it also snowing. I don't like snow, it's simply too cold. Weather should be cool and not cold if I should like it.
Autumn is the best. Not too warm, not too cold.
And cloudy, perfect for my sensitive eyes.

I love snow! When it's happening, anyway. Everything just stops for a while, it's like everyone's just taking it in.
Unfortunately, "being amazed by it" and "not knowing what to do with it" go hand-in-hand. It's crazy, we get it every year!

haha, laura, i love you, but you folks in the UK sure don't know how to handle snow
i grew up in colorado where we'd get a blizzard of 2ft plus pretty reliably every year. right now i'm back home for a week, and it's snowed about 8 inches today... gonna go out to the bar this evening with my friend.
snow is pretty dangerous if the people on the road don't know how to handle it. i never thought it was too bad... just go slow, and try to stop as rarely as possible.
i rather like it, though. even though i got precisely 8 snow days in my entire life (5 on a stretch one year, and 3 on a stretch another, go 4ft blizzards!), i still enjoy a nice snow storm when i'm in colorado.
now that i live in nyc, though, i hate it. no one knows what to do when it snows, everyone freaks out about 2 inches of snow, and that city is so disgusting that it's all brown in about six hours anyway.

Last year, I witnessed a heavy snowstorm complete with lightning, but not just any lightning, it was the color of my avatar, it lit up the whole sky and ground in intese Cyan!
I've never seen snowstorms with lightning, let alone colored lightning anytime.

Christine wrote: haha, laura, i love you, but you folks in the UK sure don't know how to handle snow No I agree, we get some snow and the whole nation panicks and everything goes kaput. We're not well adapted at all because we rarely get snow the way we have it now.
I have mobility problems though, and all the pavements and roads are icy, so it's a no go for me. Give me a sleigh and some Huskies and I'm sorted! |

Today someone was cycling over the ice, even i am not that stupid!
The ice was even not strong enough, some researchers said that it would be better if it was freezing more in our country. |

tbf april in colorado isn't really summer, it's sorta still winter... couple years ago it snowed in may, lol. april snowstorms are common, it's like our second or third snowiest month.

this one was a few feet, it's still snowing as you can see, i wish i had more pics of this storm (my poor car)

last year's blizzard... mid/late oct i think

one of the prettiest htings ever is when youre walking down a streetlit road at night and its freezing rain and it sparkles in the air and theres a light dusting on the ground and no one has driven there scince the snow started and the ground sparkles as well

I live in a city called Surprise.
Surprise is in Arizona.
It rarely snows in Surprise.
In my neighborhood, it snowed (when I was away) on winter break, it stayed on the ground for at least an hour, and it was in my neighborhood, but, that was about 2-3 years ago.
Every once in a while we get a heavy frost or snow, it snows, during the day, apparently, and stays for maybe, an hour or so.
Most of the time, at the coldest point of the year, it snows, in the middle of the night, no, not midnight, more like 1-3 AM, and that's the time it's so dark, streetlights aren't on, it's passed city curfew, and it's almost pitch black.
Then, the snow is gone by the time the sun begins to rise.
I've seen snow, once or twice, but not in my home town, and not in Phoenix, it's actually I guess, maybe the most rare ever, in Phoenix.
So, I guess I'll say it this way:
I've never had a snow day, and school was never closed because of weather.
Even if it snowed, school wouldn't be closed, as it would need to be the type of snow that people more north than here see.
The worst part, if I'm right, Arizona is the state in the US, that whenever it's summer, it always has the highest temperature (not each day, more like, if you get each and every state's day where it was the hottest), so, it's practically at #1.
We're the state that has the highest temps.
Oh, and they never close schools because of high temperatures, they don't even keep us inside for lunch/recess, so, yeah, it sucks.
I know I've said this stuff probably a hundred times here now, but I'll say this:
I believe pretty much everyone has a good understanding of why I'd want to move.
Rant over

That, was a bad Pokemon Colliseum reference.....
At least, I think you were making a reference.
Wait, it doesn't snow in Orre, at least it doesn't from what I remember of the first game.
I don't know if it snows in the sequel, but it doesn't in the first.
Okay, now I know there is no way it isn't a pokemon reference.
Though, that is kind of a good comparison, Orre compared to Arizona, they have a bunch of similarities!

Orre isn't necessarily in Japan. It doesn't have a real world counterpart, but it was inspired by a trip to Arizona, and the capital city is Phenac (a mineral that sounds suspiciously like Phoenix).
But, there's tons and tons of conversations about it in the tubes.

A friend of mine said it was based off of "Post Apocalyptic California", which, made sense.
EDIT: Though yes, Orre does look a lot like Arizona does, yet there is an error or two in the sequel, as to how Orre doesn't look like arizona.
The error in the sequel, well, judging on what I've heard, there's an Island, bay, docks, etc.
Error: Arizona is 'land locked' meaning it doesn't have beaches.

LOL your right laura! Anyway back on topic! Snow and ice in my area has cause many problems at my school! But for some reason the headteacher is making 4th 5th and 6th years go in only!!! I'm confused! How can you say a building is unsafe but make 500 people go in anyway?! Who agrees?

*Huggles all those suffering from snow*
One of these days, I'll make a snow man!
(I think the other college students will find it weird that a fellow student is taking so much time to make a snow man, then again, they probably wouldn't have known it was my first snow man*)
*This is likely a future event, because, it's unlikely I'll get a chance to make snowman, unless I leave the state, or go north-ward...
