Which do you prefer?
I'm probably a stereotypical English person, because I cannot go one day without a good cuppa. But it has be made in a certain way - strong, with one sugar, and just the right amount of milk so that the tea is a delicious, golden, amber colour. It's become a running joke amongst my friends over how much I drink the stuff - I've been dubbed the "Tea Lady" and my boyfriend amused me by buying me my own ceramic teapot with a matching tea caddy, and a selection box of different teas for my birthday. 'English Breakfast', 'Earl Grey' and 'Assam' are my favourites.
I'm probably a little bit sad though, because I reckon I got a bit overly-excited by a quaint Victorian tea room that Martin took me to - it was AMAZING! The staff were dressed in fitting butler/maid costumes, there were coal fireplaces with blackened hearths and polished grates, big, tall comfy armchairs, little chairs and tables with white dolies... It looked just like a scene out of a Beatrix Potter tale. We sat in the sunny cottage garden; surrounded by trees and hanging baskets filled by Bizzie Lizzies, and ate organic chocolate cake and shared a pot of tea. It was heaven.
Coffee, on the other hand, to me tastes foul. My taste buds always feel sad when I have a box of chocolates and I accidentally pick the one with a coffee-nougat center. Although a Latte isn't so bad. |

As I've heard, tea is sweet. My step dad makes Iced tea, it is not sweet, but like coffee mixed with water.
I like coffee, but, the coffee I drink, is always SUPPOSED to be sweet! I am an EXTREMELY HYPER person, add coffee, if it's sweet, I become an EXTREMELY CALM person. My mom and many others believe that coffee can make the hyper calm and the calm hyper.
Sadly, all tea tastes to me like the bitter coffee, which I dislike. If only it was really sweet!
EDIT: WOOT FIRST POST, AWESOME!

Coffee I do not drink and tea only when I am ill and my mum forces me to.
Sometimes I like to drink the Ice"tea" in a Tetra Pak, but I think that hasn't much to do with real tea XD

Doesn't sound like we have many tea takers here, awww. Iced Tea is very nice with a slice of lemon, and I mean proper homemade iced tea, not the stuff you get in bottles.

Blueberry tea? Is it nice? Never tried that one, and have never tried a fruit tea with sugar or cream. The only fruit/herbal teas I've tried and liked are 'Strawberry and Cranberry', 'Peppermint', and this wicked 'Turkish Apple' tea that tastes just like 'Granny Smith' apples. Took me ages to find a shop that sold it, since I first tried it in a Turkish restaurant and loved it. |

Oh, I love tea! My special favorite is Twinings "Lady Grey". It is a bit like Earl Grey, but with more of the citrus-y bergamont flavor. I like it with one teaspoon of sugar and a splash of milk. I also like English and Irish breakfast teas, and I've had the most wonderful Vanilla tea that must be taken with copious amounts of cream. Tsk tsk, now I want a cup! Herbals are good too, but I prefer them when I'm sick.
I also drink coffee, sometimes. Mostly a cup of decaf Cuban coffee with milk and sugar, once a week or so. But I can't say that I like it as much as tea...ah...tea...
Before I forget, Laura, that tea room sounds lovely! I've been to tea rooms a few times and it is so much fun.
Somewhat off topic, but the mention of Beatrix Potter made me wax nostalgic because she was my favorite writer when I was a little girl!

Ooh, ooh, I want to try vanilla tea at some point, with cream and a jam filled scone. I bet it's like a warm hug in a teacup (or mug).
Oh it was lovely rainbowcat, I didn't want to leave! I'm gonna get Martin to take me back there soon (and I used to love Beatrix Potter too). |

I barely ever drink coffee - it just wires me up too much. I do love tea though. I just drink English Breakfast with lashings of milk - the only thing I vary is the sugar. My family can tell how I'm feeling by how much sugar goes in... Four teaspoons is about my limit, though.

Has anyone tried any herbal teas or flavoured coffees?
I find I don't like most green tea, it's too bitter without lashings of milk and sugar, but I don't mind white tea.

Camomile is excellent, and I like Celestial Seasoning's Sleepy Time and Tension tamer herbals. But, as I said before, I really only like them when I'm sick. Or to calm my nerves before bed if I'm really stressed out.

Laura, when I told a girl I go to school with, she said, "WTF, how does that happen?".
Also, I made the first post WOOT!
Rainbowwcat1, my grandmother has some of that stuff, and she has trouble getting asleep, so, she's decided to begin drinking it. Strange coincidence.

I recently tried some celestial tea!
It came in a tiny cup, and, to make it, we had to put it in this special coffee maker we have at home, that has other purposes, and it makes ONE CUP!
The flavor, orange mandarin, or something like that!

My boyfriend thought the same as you, Arnout, until he learnt how to drink it without burning his mouth - now he really enjoys it. The key is to take tiny sips at first, until it cools down (I probably sound like a bit of a sad case in this post!) |

Iced coffee is nice, too - dissolve sugar and coffee to taste (2 tsp sugar and 1 tsp coffee for me, lol) in a small amount of hot water. put some icecream in a tall glass and then pour in some milk until it's about half full. pour in the coffee mix, and a lidful of vanilla extract (1tsp) and then fill it up with more milk. Eat with a sorbet spoon.
Celestial tea sounds really yummy...

Meh, I don't really like either. Coffee tastes disgusting (you don't know how many of my fellow American teens/young adults think there's something wrong with me.) and tea... well, I've never had much real tea, but I do know I hate iced tea.
I do enjoy that bottled Green Tea with citrus stuff. And when I need an energy boost I take FRS or Diet Coke.

. . . Neither? I think water is what humans were meant to drink, and. . I drink water. Not the biggest tea fan, it has too much an odd flavor, and coffee is only good as a "flavor," like coffee flavored ice-cream or something. Otherwise it is nasty and entirely overrated - Why medicate yourself for staying awake?

I also don't drink coffee or tea... or anything much beyond water and the occasional fruit drink.
Something about caffeinated drinks just turns me off. About the only one I'll willingly drink is hot chocolate, and even then I only have it once a month at most. I find this extremely odd given my love for chocolate, but whatever.
You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. If that leads to somewhere unexpected then perhaps you really needed to go there.

I like caffeine, it sometimes makes me calm, strange, but it makes sense!
The reason why:
Coffee and caffeine is designed to make one hyper!
I am a normally hyper person, and often, I am hyper!
The caffeine, instead of making me hyper, it calms me!
This somehow happens when caffeine is applied to my stimulated/hyper brain, it could be that it's causing a crash, freeze, or slow of the brain,
OR, it's an over-stimulation, which, can cause my brain to function at higher speeds, and makes it more clear!
Then again, it could just be my ADHD....
EDIT:
To Karias' post:
Coffee is good as a flavor! I've tried coffee ice cream, and it is amazingly good!
