The Crimson Norn breed is based on the Expressive Bruin genome, with sprites based on the Bruin and Bengal breeds. Although they look fearsome, they are actually just as friendly as any other breed.

These Norns are part of an ongoing project to improve the C3 Genomes and to fix many of their problems, such as incomplete chemical reactions and unused neurons, stimuli, and words. The goal is to put in everything that was missing from previous games and more, to allow them to live up to the full potential of the C3 game engine and their much more sophisticated brains and biochemistry.

New features for testing:
- Completed Pyruvate - Lactate Cycle (fixed muscle death from muscle toxin/lactate, slightly better resilience to suffocation)
- Drowning Response (creatures exhibit fear and will attempt to avoid drowning by backing out if they walked into the situation)
- Inhibin used to regulate Testosterone Production in males (might need tweaks, testing and research is required)

The Creatures 1 Grendel was originally included with the base game, occupying Grendel slot 0. They feature green coloring, red eyes, and sharp teeth. Contrary to popular belief and some rumors, C1 Grendels are not genetically engineered to be violent. Make sure to install the Grendel Settings to allow Grendels to interact positively with those around them. They may look scary, but they're typically quite nice!

The Creatures 1 Ron Norn was released by Creature Labs in Life Kit #1, occupying Norn slot 6. They are characterized by their bright colors and very different appearance from other Norns. The Ron Norn is said to originate from the very first Norn created in Creatures 1. Ron Norns shrink in old age, and they also use an updated genome.

The Creatures 1 Purple Mountain Norn is also known in its abbreviated form as the PMN. It was released by Creatures Labs in Life Kit #1, occupying Norn slot 4. They are characterized by their unique coloring, hair styles, and makeup on the females. Purple Mountain Norns shrink in old age, and they also use an updated genome.

This version of the Creatures 1 Santa Norn is also known as the '96 Santa Norn or 1996 Santa Norn. It was released by Creature Labs as an add-on, occupying Norn slot 3. The original download only included sprites for male adult Santa Norns. Greg Poehlein later released all the files necessary for males and females in all life stages. They are characterized by their Christmas-like appearance and general similarity to Horse Norns.
Note that the URL contains the body data and sprite files from Greg Poehlein.

The Osiris Norns were one of the first genetic C3 breeds. It was the first kind of 'expressive' Norn genome, predating Creatures Labs' own expressive genome. They are capable Ettin and Grendel hunters, and are used to help control overpopulation. Due to the nasty habit they had of killing Ettins for no reason, the download was taken down.
An offshoot of Project Osiris are the Set Norns.

The Set Norns were an early C3 genetic breed, created by Nightrunner. They are precursors of the Osiris Norns, the first 'expressive' Norn genome, which even pre-date Creatures Labs' own expressive genome.
In appearance they are a cross of Norn, Ettin and Grendel. They are capable Ettin and Grendel hunters, but are also equally aggressive against other Norns. However, to keep them out of your gene pool they can not breed, and are fastagers, so you would not want to breed them. They were once available from the Osiris Project website, now long defunct. The Set Norns are listed in the Museum of Lost Breeds at Creatures Unlimited.

Also known as Gray Horse Norns, these Norns are largely covered in gray fur. This means pigments will show up much more brightly. In the creator's words, "These were designed to do an end run around the 256 colour limitation."
This is the same breed and version of that breed as the Albian Greys. There should not be any difference.

These Norns look much like Hebe Norns, but have gray fur. This means pigments will show up much more brightly. This breed uses the 256 genome from Creature Labs (better picture coming soon).

The plant norns not only look like plants; they require light, heat, and nutrients to grow much like real plants. They can eat detritus as well if in need of fertilizer.
They come in many different genetic varieties, as well as having a few agents to make caring for them easier.
