Colortrue Pearl Mermaid Norn Screenshots Jessica | 7/5/2013 | 2 | This is a sample of one of the colors for the Colortrue Pearl Mermaid Norns I'm working on! Credit goes to Ylukyun for the Colortrue idea and Spykkie for creating the original Pearl Mermaid Norns. More information can be found at Discover Albia.
Wondering how this Norn positioned herself like that in the water? This version will include a chemical 63 gene, which makes them capable of swimming when the correct agent is injected into a world! |

Colortrue is a term coined by Ylukyun. These Creatures have their pigment genes moved around in a unique way. Hopefully this example makes sense!
Normal Norns: Let's say there is a red mother and blue father. Their offspring will always inherit their pigments from either parent, and the only way to get a different color is through mutations. Aside from those somewhat rare mutations, the offspring can only be red or blue.
Colortrue Norns: Same example as above, with a red mother and blue father. The pigments can now mix with each other, so the offspring can be virtually any shade of red, purple, or blue. Some offspring can have pigments similar in shade to either parent, but you'll usually get very unique colors. It's rare to have offspring be identical in color!
This video, which provides a preview of these Norns, might give you an idea of how many varied color combinations there can be in just a few generations!

Really beautiful.
But can you tell me, what does "colortrue" really mean?

Thanks, Ylukyun! I'll likely be bothering you! My test group has gotten very violent at the moment... Aside from making crowdedness increase much more slowly, I'm also looking into find other ways to reduce crowdedness. Would playing with a toy make sense? I feel like it's supposed to take their mind off of the other Norns, thus giving them a little respite. I'll figure some stuff out! For someone who claims to know nothing about C3/DS genetics, I'm navigating through these genomes pretty well. Let's just hope this last round of edits is the last one for me... And that nothing crazy ends up happening!

What you say about crowdedness is true. I often have a problem with my marine norns becoming violent because of the crowd issue... but has 'fish' it would be better if they actually enjoyed being in groups.

Let me know if you want me to make an egg agent.

I'll likely include a back with individual Norns, as well as the genetic files so that new eggs can be injected via the Genetics Kit or other method!
Also rethinking a couple of other genes related to crowdedness... Aquatic metarooms are typically on the smaller side, making retreating not much of an option. Might end up making these less prone to crowdedness, although I won't be removing that drive completely!

I have never used Colortrue Norns, so this will be a treat when you release it!
When they are released, will it be released with genetics? Or just the exported norns?

This is very exciting. I saw this on Discover Albia and I was very excited about the colors.

She is a beauty!

Thanks! If anyone finds the first generation colors a bit too intense, remember that Colortrue Norns have their colors mix through the generations, so you'll have the possibility of having a whole spectrum of colors available! Once I have about 4-6 color varieties ready, I'll also do a test run to make sure that the offspring have very unique coloring. Those who haven't used Colortrue Norns before might just be surprised at how varied the results are!
