Ma Grendel and Little Fig Art Trell | 6/5/2013 | 5 | A little sketch of a breed concept I've been mulling over. Having developed a more benevolent opinion of Grendels, I decided to share my own take on them.
Troll Grendels, (named so because we called it the Troll when I was little) are a reclusive breed of Grendels native to Dulcia. They have pretty light green colouring, with bands of blue around their wrists, ankles, and tail, as well as a scattering of blue speckles and a couple stripes below their eyes.
These Grendels have classic yellowy hair, but rather uncharacteristically of Grendels, they have soft, short fur in place of scales, and curious blue eyes rather than the typical red. They do have hard spikes on their backs for defense, and sharp claws should they need them. Also noteworthy are the small, ridged horns seen between their fluffy hair and floppy ears.
Troll Grendels are a tree-dwelling breed, and are very protective of their young, forming strong family bonds. Being tree-dwellers, they have adapted to survive long falls better than other species. They are typically shy and reclusive, but are not easily crowded. In contrast to other Grendel species, they are rather mellow and laid back, getting along wonderfully with Norns and Ettins.
However, they ought to be kept away from violent breeds, as slaps give more fear and pain than average. Slaps from the Hand also fill Troll Grendels with fear, but a friendly pat helps calm them and reduce pain.
So there you have it, my very first in-detail breed concept, and a Grendel of all things! Comments and opinions would be much appreciated. ![[ngrin] [ngrin]](/images/smilies/emot_grin.gif) |

I would love to have fuzzy, nurturing grendels running around my world.

Why thanks luv! I've always imagined that Grendel mums would carry their babies around on their backs like Gorillas do. :3
I hope to get it made into an actual breed this summer, though I'll need more spriting practice.

I think your art style is very nice.
I like the concept too. We really do need more quality grendel breeds.
