Hi,
I have asked this question a few times in different places and I have never received a clear answer. Is there a simple way to run Creatures internet Edition on Vista so you don't have to switch between 16 and 24 bit colour depth?
I have heard about an SDL installation but noone has told me where to find it and how to run it. I have also heard that running CIE on Vista will require OpenC2E. Who is right?

Sorry, answered should be "asked." I can't edit my post. |

I'm running it right now just fine. Have you checked Treesprites' page? I can't remember what I did exactly, but I do believe there are some fix files on there. Mine's running just fine, and I don't need to switch colour depths, so I know it's compatible with Vista. It seems to work more efficiently if run in Full Screen mode too. |

Could you post a link for that? I have had to create a new user account where the bit depth is less. I also get odd errors where plants from one room are found in another and some of the graphics are buggy. But, apart from that and with autokill on, things are fine. Apart from one "this program terminated an application in an unusual way" error. |

Wait... gah. I'm looking at the page now and what I got seems to have been the logon bypasser because no matter what I did it wouldn't work. Sorry! I was thinking of how I got C1 working on Vista, which took a lot of jumping through hoops.
Is it still playable like that, or reasonably so?... I could definately see that getting annoying at the least. |
