Frabcus, a Creatures Labs programmer back in the day, has uploaded the source code to the Creatures Evolution Engine to the Internet Archive.
Download the source code to C2E here!

This’ll certainly make the openc2e project easier!
Grendels aren't so bad, but I love Ettins! They're adorable! The complexity of creatures is quite amazing. |

My first thought was that it could possibly help with various C3DS-based projects and such. Not that I'm particularly knowledgable about that sort of thing, mind.

It’s probably better not to speculate on if the source code can help openc2e, particularly as openc2e seems to be dormant. Still, it’s amazing to think that we’ve now got access to the source code!

Very exciting! Honestly never thought this would see the light of day! It's a real shame it didn't get released under an OS license though, so that puts it on rather uneasy ground legally speaking.
I've almost finished getting it compiling and was planning on seeing how much work it'll be to add support for content from previous games alongside other improvements.
edit:
And it's now compiling! That was actually pretty easy, but I'll find out how well it runs during my lunch break.
edit:
Doesn't support 32-bit colour depth, so I've botched it for now and will look at this over the weekend, but yeah, progress!
