I felt like making some tutorials, so I have created a blog. I can't promise anyone they'll be able to create a whole new GUI after reading it, but my lessons will hopefully give the beginner all the info they need to start creating new objects, and you can always leave comments.
It is located at:

Wow, this looks great! I have been trying to learn CAOS but I have never really gotten there
I think I'll use this blog to start off, since it looks really good

Very interesting! I never attempted to learn CAOS before, but I might finally be able to understand it with your blog! The long post isn't too bad, and it all made sense to someone with no knowledge of CAOS. I'm looking forward to the next tutorials: Great work!

Thanks guys
it all made sense to someone with no knowledge of CAOS
That's what I was aiming for. It's intended for people with a little experience, too (in CAOS or other languages), but you can just skip the first posts if they are too simple.
Oh, and as the next post is for a full agent, I think I will be putting it behind a jump/cut link.. |

Excellent! We need more tutorials in the community. I have been meaning to produce some myself, but have been too busy with C2toDS to do so.
I'm curious though. You said that Ctr+Shift+R activates the coordinate finder. On my computer that only tells the room number, while Ctrl+Shift+X tells the coordinates. Why the discrepancy, do you know? |

I think that I confused them. I will go and change the post now.. |

When you do the food will you be showing how to have the sprite changed when picked up(like with the carrots)? |

I wasn't planning to. The toy tutorial will probably cover sprite changing however.
Edit: The carrot is simple enough. It just has a pose change in the pickup script, and changes back in the drop script. If you are still confused, PM me. |

I agree, this blog looks really good so far, ylukyun, keep up the good work!
Maybe one day I'll actually be able to grasp some basic CAOS skills. I've always wanted to create a little something for the community, but have never got around to learning how yet. The Ask Laura Mystery Agent doesn't count, I didn't create that myself.
Have you considered adding it to the Links page? |

I didn't think of that Just let me make a button and I will add it in a few minutes. |

Sorry for the double post, but I need to bump the thread.
The first proper tutorial, for object creation, is now available. It details making a food object. See it here.
Please tell me if it is easy to understand, or if there are any glaring CAOS errors.. |

I think your new post is relatively easy to follow! Being someone without any knowledge about CAOS, though, I do have a few questions... Hopefully they're not completely idiotic!
1.) Is this coding just for C3/DS? (And also, is the link to the calculator just for C3/DS?)
2.) Would it be possible to share some examples of what different values would do? Especially for elas and perm, unless there's another resource that explains this already.
3.) What are some other genomes related to food objects? For instance, what if we wanted to specify the nutrition and/or toxins a food delivers?
I apologize ahead of time if those questions are either too basic or way too complicated: I'd love to learn more, though, and your tutorials are very helpful! Hopefully they will inspire some more people to get involved with agent creation. Thanks!

1) Yes, and yes. Some commands are interchangeable, but this would not be compileable as an agent for C1 or C2. The calculator is also for C3/DS, and for Windows only.
2) I might be making something with different properties in the toy tutorial, but you can always just change the values in the cake cos and see what happens. Creatures Wiki is pretty good at explaining it too, it's where I went when I wasn't exactly sure what something did.
3) The toxic norns have different genetics related to food. I don't know if the stimulus genes are different, or if they process nutrients differently. There are probably others out there, but I don't know that much about non-CL genomes (besides my own.) If you want to make an object give nutrients directly, you can use chem, and driv for drive alterations. But this means non-standard results for interacting with a specific type of object, and could sometimes end up confusing norns. |

Thanks for the answers! I'll check out the Creatures Wiki for some extra information about the different values. That also makes sense about possibly confusing Norns with non-standard results... Good to know, though! Thanks again for clarifying!

Toxics process nutrients differently, their biochemistry is different but their stimulus genes are the same as any other breed. This is why regular food like cheese is safe for them, but food with "healthy" chemicals, like the DS lemons which have Histamine A, will make them sick.

Ah, thanks. I thought that was the case. It is still possible to make norns that would die from eating cheese, if anyone feels like doing so ^_^ |
