after finally giving up on playing Prelude To Darkness(rpg game)due to the game crashing every five bloody minutes, i have decided to give creatures another go....but which game? i'm going to list the pros and cons of c2 and DS....then perhaps one of you fine individuals can give me a suggestion on which one.....
Creatures 2
pros:
-has the chemical kit, breeding kit, cemetery kit, science kit and various other kits
-has a bigger world to explore
cons:
-the norns are stupid
-they forget how to eat
-they don't interact with one another
-no way to communicate with other c2 players
Docking Station
pros:
-the norns are smarter
-the norns remember how to eat
-the norns interact with one another
-one can chat with other members and send creatures back and forth
cons:
-the world starts small. must find compatible world expansions
-no science kit, medical kit, cemetery kit, or other kits
-can be hard to find agents and breeds
so it seems that DS would be the better pick....but what do you all think? |

I'm assuming you already own both games; if you don't DS is free, which gives it a huge advantage.
If you're trying to get back into the Creatures series, I'd recommend DS. C2 is somewhat of an "acquired taste" IMO, given the bugs and the stupid norns.
You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. If that leads to somewhere unexpected then perhaps you really needed to go there.

and there some kits for DS. lets ask the CDN
Brain in a Vat tool
Biochemistry set
and possibly the Genetic Kit
well, ok in DS is no cemetry. but that is because you need not really one. DS CAN play alone, but was though to be an expansion for C3 and in C3 you have the crypt.
if you say me what those C2 kits, which you miss in DS, exactly do I could search for you a small collection of agents that do together the same.

I don't see why you can't play one then the other or something. Personally I would go for C2. The world is prettier and far more interesting. I always thought DS was rather crappy. The norns all tell each other what to do in automated response, there's no feeling of development, or learning. Boring, really. Plus you have fast agers and non dying norns. C2 has cute little seasons with clouds and snow, how can you not like that?
I've always been against the C3/DS thing. IMO its where the games turned awful and lost all cuteness and creativity that C1 and C2 had. In fact I recommend C1 over DS by far, those norns had personality!
Yes, I'm the forum ... Any questions?

okay i downloaded DS and am glad i did. i kind of missed the way the norns looked in that game.
anywho, i would love to get my hands on something similar to the science kit, or the medical kit. something that can help me track their health and whether or not they are sick, and something that will help me treat them if they are sick. i do have the medical flute thingy, but am not sure if it will even work yet. |

I know there's a metaroom out there called the Sickbay which is supposed to have all kind of neat agents and stuff for looking after your Norns' health... I've been meaning to check it out but haven't gotten to it yet. It sounds interesting, anyway.

I like Terra v.4 and Terra reborn. you get them here on Creatures Caves.
I like them because they are quite big, they look cool, have a good food system and they have the chemical graph. it enables you to inject/drain chemicals into/from your creatures.
(you should not inject both at once. they will make no real probs, but the doors are conflicting a bit. sometimes you press the door to one room, your norn will be moved into it, but your hand gets moved to the other one...)

oh, sorry
and the bugs contain many vitamins and other good stuff. the reason why the norns die is: when creatures eat them, they get about 45-50% of the needed wounds to kill it.
