This year in Biology class, each of us is required to do a research project. For mine, I decided to use Creatures. And the teacher let me use it!
However, I need a lot of norns of many varieties, to represent most of the existing population of creatures out in every Creatures player's world - somewhere around 20-ish.
Here's how the experiment works:
For the first few weeks, a group of norns will be left to run around in each Terrarium behind locked doors, and their survival rate will be counted. In addition, what traits the future generations tend towards will also be recorded.
After that, norns will still be locked in Terrariums - but with a few grendels running around in each. After that, the survival rate of the norns will be recorded, along with any traits they may have developed.
After that, the doors will be un-locked, and the norns will be free to run around, although the threat of grendels remain.
So, I'd like to gather my sample from other breeders. Some requirements:
*I'd like norns that are either freshly hatched or not much older than that - a 0 to 5 minute range.
*I need a wide variety of creatures - so personality, etc. doesn't really matter. Just don't overdo it on the Hardmen and the Toxics.
*Generation does not matter.
*I don't really care about sprites, either, but I really don't want norns using a bunch of third-party sprites. I don't have the time to go out and download all of them, and space on my laptop is limited.
*They must be healthy. No bacteria or toxins (unless you're submitting a toxic, but that's a given)
And most of all:
*I need only C3-Standalone creatures. I haven't been playing DS at all recently, and see no reason to do so now. And you can't import DS - exported creatures into Creatures 3, no matter where you downloaded them. So, I want only norns exported from a C3 - standalone world, however few they may be nowadays.
So, anyone interested?

I'd like to contribute. It's been ages since I've played C3 standalone, though, so I may have to breed two of my exported adults to get a baby for you.
ETA: ...It would appear that I actually imported all of my C3-born norns into DS. -_- Em, let me see if I can breed some more C3-standalone norns then....
You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. If that leads to somewhere unexpected then perhaps you really needed to go there.

Aww, that's cool that you get to use creatures for a science project. My teachers would never let me do such a thing.
I'd contribute but... yeaah.. I don't think I've had a C3 standalone norn since DS was released.

Oh, hey there GrendelMan. Nice to see you again.
Hmm, I'll see what I have in my C3 standlone then. I may have to breed a few norns first.
Do you have Fallow Norns and Astro Norns by the way?

Do you accept third-party altered breeds? (like CFEs or norns altered to breathe underwater too)

I can try and participate. I dont useually use C3, though.

In terms of third-party: I mean breed with altered sprites. Altered genomes are fine, but I don't want a large variety of third-party sprites (the goal here is behavior, not looks - and unlike RL, the behavior of a norn is usually not affected by its appearance). That was what I meant.
And yes, I have all the official sprites (including the 5 mall breeds that weren't free), so norns using those are perfectly fine.
I expected the low number of C3-standalone players. Guess it's not as popular these days. -_-

Maybe it's not possible to import DS norns into C3, but would it be possible to take the raw genetic file (from the My Worlds\WorldName\Genetics folder) from a DS creature and inject it into C3 as an egg via the genetics kit? If people could just send in genetic files it would give you both a variety of creatures and allow you to hatch them all from eggs so they would be young enough for use. Would that work?

It would be possible to take a genome from a DS-only creature and inject it into C3 via a genetics injector such as Chris D's genome injector....but with the standard Genetics Kit, no. DS genetics files from the World folders are generally too big for the Genetics Kit to load.
However, if everyone were to upload norns to the TCR, it would indeed be possible. Unlike importing creatures, using a TCR-genome with the Genetics Kit rarely causes issues.

I have a male norn with Fallow, Bengal and Astro norn sprites. He's newly hatched and learned all of his words.
Will he be fine to send in?
