I do have a question but this is double as an intro post so skip to the bottom if you don't care.
I started playing Creatures shortly after Creatures 2 came out. That was a while ago. I got Creatures 3 when it came out but never really got into it.
A couple of days ago, for no apparent reason, I got the urge to load it up again and, pleasant surprise, there's a free addition. (Though it does suck you have to go online every time you start a new world...) So I've been sucked right back into it now.
I did a wolfing run while I was at work with eight first gen norns, and a seperate run simultaneously with 2 grendels. The grendels died off, which I hadn't planned for, which meant two male grendels started being born within my norn experiment area and botched that one up, too. But live and learn.
So when I got home I started over. I'd read about an IQ test and put a bunch of first gen norns through it, 8/9 made it (I sent them through one at a time, maybe that had an effect, I don't think they should be making it through the test so easily, but I dunno).
This one was more successful. I've gotten 14 eggs out of them in the docking station area, and I figure that's enough, I sent them to the norn terrarium to chill out and eventually die. I half want to kick them out the airlock and be done with it so I can focus my attention on the next generation.
ANYWAYS -- skip to here.
My first two norns to pass the IQ test were Alfred and Alice. They've also been the most productive parents, by far. They've mated on two occasions but made four eggs.
Alice has mated with other males and not had twins. I don't remember and can't tell if Alfred has also mated with other females.
Is this just happenstance? Is one of them particularly twin-prone. Or is it some combination of them?
I hatched the first pair of twins, and have exported them, Alfred, and Alice perhaps for further study.
Are twins common? From the same pair of parents? |

To me, they are (common) - I'm not sure what really goes on, but I get them often. They grow up just as healthy as other norns, and are often a very interesting study. (And I know it is twins - Very often I have only one male around)
btw, Welcome to Creatures Caves!

Really? I don't think any of my Norns have ever had twins.

I've had another couple sets as well. I think I'll load up Alice and Alfred, and watch them carefully, see if the next kisspop is a set of twins or not.

Thank you.

It isn't necessarily obvious. Two "pregnant" buttons pop up at the same time, for the same female. The first set (which I've hatched, and confirmed they have the same mother, father, conception time and) were laid at the same time. The second set had about a ten second delay. If you aren't watching them close you might just assume two females were pregnant. |

Eh, I didn't realize you meant there were two icons for it; I thought you were talking about two eggs with only one icon. I've always referred to twins as "multiple pregnancies", since in C1 the number of eggs was displayed on the "pregnancy indicator"--which sometimes got as high as nine. Ah, the good old days.
The only time I've ever gotten twins in C3 is if I use the Cupid's Lyre. That thing is potent!
