Multiple Smells (CAs)?

Maybe a silly question but: Can agents have more than one CA? i.e. Would it possible to make a toy smell both like water and gadgets? If so, do I need two EMIT lines? Thank you! :)

Edit: Side question. This toy also gives creatures a small dose of water each time it's pushed. To implement that, would I have to inject a chemical?

As far as I know, using a second EMIT line overrides the first one, so you can't have objects with more than one smell.
I guess you could make like a second invisible smell emitter agent thingy attached to your main agent, but that is more hassle than it's worth for such a simple thing as a smell.

No clue about the water thing, though.

You can use the ALTR command to give two CAs at once (see the C3 apple cores). Hope this helps!

Huh, ALTR... Now that's an idea. Chuck it into a timer script and everything is fine.

As for part 2 of your question, Laura, there aren't any stimuli which give water to a creature - they generally make it themselves in the respiratory process, so your instinct that you'd have to inject a chemical into them is right. [ngrin]

Won't creatures get confused if an object smells like another object?

I don't think creatures use the water CA for anything, though?

Yeah, if they smell, for example, food, and trace that smell back to it's source which isn't food they will just pace around the object looking confused.

Which water CA? There are two, though I don't think creatures associate either with anything... maybe CA3 with weather?

I was thinking of the gadget smell. Probably wouldn't make a difference except with creatures inclined to hit or steal gadgets.

Default C3 Ettins are perpetually confused anyway so it may not end up having any effect on them. :P

Ah, I thought so. :)

Thanks for the input, peeps. This was very useful, especially the info about the water CA not being used for anything; I didn't realise that. The agents in question have already been finished and released now. I hope everyone enjoys the fruits of this topic. :D
