Greetings,
Not sure this belongs in the right category, but I figured that since I don't actually need help to fix it, this was the place. Apologize if it is not.
I recently downloaded the Giraffe norns by Arnout and I adore them! My problem is just that their life span is rather short. Any way I can change that or someone else can with permission from Arnout of course. I know you can change it in the gen/gno files with the right tools, but I don't have the knowledge to do so. So how so I best approach this?
Edit: I suppose I should mention that I would like the life span to be that of a normal norn. |

Hey! I'm very happy that you like the Giraffes. I've in fact been planning a genetic update for the Giraffe Norns for a while now, as their CFF genomes are outdated as of now. If there's anything else you'd like to see in the next genome besides a longer lifespan I'd like to hear it. |

It's pretty easy actually, since most genomes control the lifespan through one gene. You open the genome in a genome editor, find the half life gene near the top of the genome, open the gene by double clicking on it, find the "life" chemical (it's number 124), change it from 95 to 99, and then save your genome.
And ninja'd by Arnout.

Never though the creator would apply o.O
The short life span was the only think that really bugged me. I don't know much about what is able to be done to their behavior. I can try and come up with a list but that is all I can xD
Do you have an ETA for when it will be released? Just curious, take your time of course, I am just interesting |

I can't find a download for the official Genetic Kit right now, but Genetic Lab should do the job as well.
You can open the .gen file (the .gno is basically just comments for the .gen and is opened automatically if available) with it. In the first 50 genes or so, you should find a unique gene responsible for half lives.
Click the gene. You should see a window listing all the ingame chemicals. Scroll down to ID 125, Life. Tweaking the slider will in- or decrease the lifespan of the creatures.
Just be careful and do it in small increments till you are comfortable with it. When you crank it too high, you can get creatures that live several hundred hours.
In GeneLab, you need to click the small red tick to save changes to a single gene. Click it, then save the file itself and try it ingame.
When you do not like your changes, delete the .gen file. When you make a new egg, the original gene file will be re-installed from the agent.

Also, 124? I was pretty sure it was 125. We seem to agree it is in the 120s. Just go by name I guess.

Ninja chain of helpfulness! Your right Papriko, it's 125. I usually just press L a few times and find it that way. XD

What is the number for the normal norn life span they have? |

I don't know, but you could open other genomes and have a look. If you have: I think bondis live a little longer than other CL breeds. You could use those as guideline.

I could upload the new genome right now if necessary. I just need to test some tweaks.
Edit: I've uploaded the succesful test pair as well as their genetics here. |

That is up to you really. If you think they are ready then they are ready, if not then no worries |

This is probably late, but for Bondis the half-life is 102 (~20 minutes)... 99 (~15 minutes) is the standard lifespan that Chichis use, and I believe the C3 breeds as well, making them live around 5 hours.
A value of 95 (~10 minutes) would give about a 33% decrease in lifespan from normal, so these would only live about 3.5 hours... The normal value of 102 gives Bondis about a 33% longer life than most Norns (making them live about 6-7 hours)... A value of 106 (~30 minutes), like the 1.1 Evos and the Alien Norns use, doubles the normal lifespan to make them live around 10 hours.
