So I've noticed while reviewing Kezune's recent breakdown of a couple norns' genetics that there were different names for things. I use genelab, and I guess what I'm trying to figure out is why my analysis doesn't match up with what everyone else's is. I don't see a "samp" just a gain, threshold, and rate for example. I assume rate is the equivalent, but the units aren't the same, they're in seconds.
Can someone tell me what genetics editor they're using? I've tried using the genetics kit, but instead of having numbers for me to clearly visualize the change, it's just the slider, which isn't very useful at all. It also has "nominal" instead of samp or rate! How confusing!
Help.
I'd love to standardize this so I can communicate better and understand the changes other people are making.
In related news, the reason I bring this up is because I used Kezune's breakdown of William's genetic makeup to create norns that average a 6 minute pregnancy time. I changed the threshold for egg laying to 250, changed the progesterone emitter gain to 2 from 3, and changed the progesterone half life slightly to 8.55s, up from 7.55s I believe. Then I silenced the "go home to lay eggs" gene, because it was really depressing watching them hang around the egg pan for 7 minutes looking hungry and bored.
Surprisingly, early testing shows not much of a decrease in overall reproductions rates versus unchanged females. Any feedback or ideas would be appreciated. I think I'll keep the changes no matter what, for a more realistic pregnancy. The less then a minute ones of the unchanged females just seems highly unnatural. |

I think the program that Kezune might be using to analyse the genomes might be Gene Compare.

Thanks Malkin, that helped clear that up for me. |

Chris Double's Genetics Editor expresses the genome in a very similar way to Gene Compare (although with the Genetics Editor, of course, you can edit it). Perhaps that might be useful when using Gene Compare files?
