| Immunity to Histamine A & B | |

Hi.
I have just recently discovered that my current norn generation gene line seems to be very prone to histamine A and B, that builds into injury and then kills them.
Since its in the genes it seems like there is something triggering A and B to occur more than once in their lives. I can cure it no problem, but it will always return.
Their gen is too big for the genetic kit to load so I was thinking about loading a bondi norn's gen and use it as base where I add immunity to histamine A & B and then export 1 female 1 male into the game so they can breed into the generation and hopefully fix the issue in later generations.
Now, I am no expert in the genetic tho I have read the guide about it.
But will removing gene 0327, 0328, 0345, and 0347 (Under immune system) make them immune to histamine A & B? Or is there a better way of doing it?
Thanks for reading. |

Another way of doing it would be to make their sneeze response include a dose of antihistamine. Can you open their genome in LiveGMS?

It's generally not good to just remove genes, as it causes genes after that in the genome to no longer line up with the corresponding genes of other creatures when breeding, which often causes bad genetic problems with offspring. The best thing to do if you don't like a gene is to make it dormant... check 'do not express (carry)' in the gene, and if you want to be really sure it won't come back in future generations, also uncheck 'mut' and change degree to 0.

Malkin: I keep getting this "Genome loaded. 0 genes have been skipped or corrected because of errors." when trying to load a gen. But I like your idea of giving them a dose of antihistamine when they sneeze, but I have no clue how to.
evolnemesis: I see, well that explains what the guide meant by order in the genes. If I make it dormant will it stop appear or what does it do? |

That's a confirmation that it works, not an error!

I let it load for 15 min and it still kept showing the "Genome loaded. 0 genes have been skipped or corrected because of errors." no gene or anything was loaded.
I prefer just using the genetic kit at least I know what I am sort of doing XD |

Yeah, suppressed genes will do nothing but sit there in the genome... they won't activate or do anything in the creature's lifetimes. Actually, it's a lot like what happens in real DNA... somewhere over 90% of all our own genetic material is just garbage like that, 'filler' genes which are no longer used or do anything at all to our bodies, literally just sequences of crap which just are the right size to make sure the important genes line up... Some may have been parts of genes used at some point in our evolution... for some we can see the proteins they made and stuff, and other parts may have been injected by extinct retroviruses and other organisms to replicate themselves. Remarkably this is true for pretty much all life on earth, other than the simplest kinds of fungi, bacteria, or viruses. Nearly all genetic material in higher organisms is dormant like this and does not actually express.

At about gene 410 and 411, there's the stimuli which is whatever norns feel when they cough or sneeze. You'll see that there are some silenced chemicals - pain and hotness and tiredness. Add another silenced chemical - antihistamine, at a midding dose. Every time they get sick enough to sneeze, they'll inject themselves with the cure.
