Back with my daily noob questions. I have installed C12DS and the windows beta patch. I am now able to run DS, yay.
1. Is there a basic beginner tutorial for C3/DS? I have searched all over and am not finding anything really basic. I watched Jessica's videos for C1 which prepared me to at least get started. In both of these I have no idea how anything works.
2. I finally found the doors to various areas on DS, but I cannot figure out where it is for the C1 room. The readme says there is a tip of a stonelike device sticking out somewhere, but I have question-clicked all over and I am not finding it.
3. I can only seem to be able to run C3 and DS as separate games. How do I run them "docked"?

I don't know about the first question, but for the second two - when you create a new world, there should be an icon with the words "Capillata only" underneath of it. If you have C3 installed, you should be able to click on it to switch between a DS standalone world and a docked one.
If you have C1toDS installed, you might also be able to click on the icon to have the room automatically injected upon creating a new world. If not, then you'll have to go to the Comms Room (click the door to the far right of the Meso, then the one in the middle of the Hub), switch to the Agent Injector (click the icon that looks like an asterisk on the far left), and then scroll through the options until you find "C1 to DS." Click on it, then click the checkmark to inject the room.
C1toDS's teleporter is a spherical looking thing with the C1toDS icon on top of it. It gets dropped in the Hub when the room is injected. The thing in the readme is never injected, and the story there is just a story that never shows up in-game in any form.

Grendel Man's got most of it covered.
To help answer your first question, though, you can always check out the game's manual. You can find it here, online.

In addition to the links that Kezune's recommended, I found that one of the best ways to learn about C3/DS, and the Creatures series in general, is to carry on doing exactly what you've already been doing; keep asking questions and searching the forums for answers. You'll probably find that a lot of your queries about the basics have already been answered.
The Creatures Wiki is also an excellent resource to refer to, as it has comprehensive Creatures 3 and Docking Station sections, both of which are regularly updated by the community. |

Thanks so much, everyone. In the past few days I have learned how to inject COBs into the game, its not too different from The Sims games for 3rd party content. Somehow I thought the C1toDS would just load tho. Injecting from the injector worked. Now I can retreat to an area where I am at least a bit familiar until I can get up to speed. The reason I could not find it was that I was looking in the meso room, (where the readme says it would be) rather than the hub. I guess something got changed at some point.
I have the Creatures Exodus manual but I know I need to spend more time on it.
Lots of good info in the links provided which I had glossed over because I started with just C1. Curiosity got the better of me and after a few C1 days I had to venture further.
Off to do more homework. |

Glad we can help you get started! Thank goodness that researching Creatures is a much more enjoyable kind of homework too. While I remember, you might also want to give our Resources section a browse, particularly the 'Games' category. |
