I got my first pair of glasses today, and I've been wondering if you guys wear one. It's really an improvement, as my eyes have been deteriorated much in a short time. I've got a prescription from -2.75 to -2.25.

I do not wear glasses, but I should wear sunglasses, and my mom does wear glasses.

So do I. I'm nearsighted, but I also have double vision issues (without my glasses, it seriously strains my eyes as I try to see things single).

As I said before, I wear glasses for my short-sightedness. I'd much prefer to wear contact lenses, though, but I've heard they're painful to put in. |

I should wear glasses to help with near-sightedness, but I don't. Mainly because they're broken.

I wear glasses, mostly because when I was younger I sat extremely close to the TV so my eyes are severely damaged (and I suppose just the years of video game playing) P: |

I most likely need some, but I am too lazy to move to the doc. Don't have money for glasses anyways.

Yep, I started wearing them 2 and a half years ago. Turns out not being able to see was my only issue with school.

I wear glasses because of my short-sightedness and astigmatism, but I'm not quite sure on the prescription; I just know it's too high

There are more people wearing glasses than I expected. Interesting to hear your stories, guys.

I was fine as a kid, but have worn glasses almost all my adult life for short-sightedness. Then I went to the optician's about a year ago because I felt that my eyes had been changing, only to be told I didn't need glasses any more! Very slightly short-sighted still, but not enough to worry about. That said, I can't focus as close to my eyes as I used to, so if that keeps getting worse I'll end up needing glasses again for reading.
Couldn't do contacts though. *shudder* |

I second the *shudder*. Contact lenses just freak me out. Fingers don't go near the eyeballs!

Also, according to the ophthalmologist, my eyes are a bit "long" (think of them almost like a rugby ball shape [football ball for some], but not too much!)

I also don't want contact lenses. I might be wrong, but I'm afraid these can get stuck behind your eyeball.

I'm supposed to wear my glasses all the time, but I only use them when I'm watching TV or going out of the house.
I haven't gotten a new prescription in 4 years now, and I really need new lenses so I'm going to have to get on that soon
I actually really want contact lenses. There is nothing in the world more annoying and uncomfortable than wearing glasses. |

My glasses are basically glued to my face, and have been for years. Used to hate wearing them as a kid, and can only stand them now because I have a pair that don't have nose-pad on them. I can sort of see without them on, but only close up? I keep forgetting if I'm near-sighted or far-sighted. I know I'm the opposite of my sister, but that doesn't help very much. X3
Edit: I also don't do contact lenses. I couldn't stand my fingers near my eyes all the time.

I've worn glasses since I was 10 years old. I have super bad myopia aka near-sightedness so my lenses are pretty thick. I sometimes wear contacts too, and they're not as scary as they seem. Just make sure you use a lot of contact solution to keep them moist and don't stick them in your eyes if they're dried out, that's in for a lot of pain and discomfort. Kinda feels like there's glass in your eyes or something. But otherwise I can't really feel them and can take them out decently enough.

Wow, so pretty much everyone here has or should have glasses? Am I the only one that doesn't? xD

There are actually a lot of myths about contacts, and that is one of them, so don't worry!
As long as contacts are stored correctly they go in and stay on your eye correctly. You just have to make sure you keep them moist with their solution and they wont wiggle out of place. I personally don't wear contacts, but I'm hoping to get some soon-ish. |

I'm a proud glasses wearer! I've had them since I was a kid, and I'm one blind bat without them. Some of my nightmares actually consist of me dreaming in my normal fuzzy eyesight and not being able to find my glasses. Ha ha!
I had contact lenses for a little bit... Yuck. I had one tear in my eye from me blinking, and that was it for me. My eyes were always in pain from getting so dried out, and I figured that glasses were the way to go! Mine are the Silhouettes brand, which are frameless and not at all intrusive. I would never consider contacts again, with all of the possible issues. Biggest issue I have to worry about with glasses is making sure I take them off before I take a nap!

I'm really near-sighted. But my vision wasn't always bad, otherwise how would my early childhood memories be crystal clear? I started wearing glasses when I was ten. Including that, I've had I think two pairs of glasses. I also wear contact lenses. I've got a high prescription so they're firmer, which means they're harder to get off dry eyes. I'm often dehydrated (stupid organs! I wish punching them would solve things), but it isn't a problem so long as I don't sleep longer than four hours with them still on. I think I need a new prescription, but I can't afford it right now.
My younger brothers are all near-sighted. My mother's really near-sighted. My father's recently developed a little difficulty reading things close to his face, so he has to keep papers a little far away from him. |

I started wearing glasses at 13, but I'm pretty much blind without them now. Very nearsighted. I think they are around -10.5 prescription... I need special expensive lenses if I don't want them to be as thick as coke bottles.

My eyesight's pretty much gone down the drain. I'm near sighted in one eye, far sighted in the other, and have different astigmatisms in each eye.
The best part? I'm super clumsy with my glasses. It's almost disorienting, seeing everything in this much detail.
